By this I do not mean, the world's biggest range of crisps. I mean they have all the usual chocolate, crisps and fizzy juice as well as ciggies, rolling papers and tobacco. However, you'll also find good two for £2 deals on litres of fruit juice (perfect for picking up on the way home for a Sunday morning breakfast). You'll also find a good range of - slightly overpriced - cheeses, meats and homemade samosas. Meanwhile, for the fast food folks among you there is a pretty good selection of frozen pizzas, chips, burgers and, of course, ice creams near the back of the shop. Does that really warrant five stars? No. This gets five stars because of the staff, who are some of the warmest, friendliest, most patient convenience store staff I've ever encountered. I just popped in to get a pint of milk. I wasn't feeling great, I have a bit of a cold. The guy behind the counter assured me that all I needed was a sunny weekend and I'd be right as rain. I nodded politely. He then gave me double finger guns THEN a double thumbs up. I left feeling much better.

They sell fresh bread, fruit and vegetables, along with the usual confectionary, crisps, newspapers, magazines and the like. The also have a small freezer section and some luxury cakes and desserts. One of the best things about this Spar is the post office facility, which is located at the main counter. The staff are very friendly and happy to help, and the location is very handy for the residents of this area. The shop is wheelchair accessible. The prices are average for a corner shop - more expensive than a supermarket but a lot handier.

I can tell you how: It's the only place to buy groceries on this part of Argyle Street that's open 24 hours a day. That's worth something when everywhere else has closed and you're out of milk... or worse, toilet paper. They're actually not bad for a convenience store, either. The prices are steep-ish but not extortionate and they're the kind of store that also has lots of handy little bits and pieces. So, maybe you're only going in for a loaf of bread, but if you realise you need a pack of safety pins or a bottle opener or something, they'll likely have that too. Oh, and there's a cash machine right outside which doesn't charge and never seems to have a queue in front of it, even when the one outside Tesco has a massive queue. I have no idea why no one wants to use this one - maybe they just don't know it's there?

I was searching for them in all the local wee shops & nowhere sold them until one day I happened to pop in for a wee swatch & BEHOLD! THE amazing crisps! I was so happy (I'm easily pleased) and upon looking around this shop I was pretty impressed with their stock - they have a lot crammed in here for what is quite a smallish shop. It does feel a tad claustrophobic but because they stock some handy items that cannot be bought elsewhere in the local area then I forgive them this. Mucho crispness (a WALL of crisps nonetheless), another aisle of chocolately, sweetie-filled treats, magazine/newspapers, fridges of cold fizzy juice, milk & a variety of cold meats/cheeses/spreads, loads of dry goods (cereals, bread, pasta,etc..), a freezer of food items (I actually found vegan burgers in here! Woah) and many more household & other such goods. As I said; they are pretty well stocked. I always come in for one thing & leave with a bag full of goodies (and vegan burgers I didn't even need) which is the sign of a good shop (and a weak Angela). So if you find yourself in the Partick and in need of some QUALITY crisps (and by quality I mean probably REALLY bad for you) then this is the place to go. Top one. Nice one. Sorted.

The staff are generally indifferent and at times it feels like you're an inconvenience to whatever other task they're doing when you try to pay. Customer service is clearly low on their priority list (this infuriates me!). There's a post office too, so that helps redeem it just a little. But sadly no Amazon lockers. IMHO, if you don't need stamps go to the wee store next door - they're generally cheaper, will ask how your day is, and they'll remember you the next time you pop in.

Primarily it has thrived over the years by identifying that: a) students live nearby, and b) students don't like to walk. As such, rather than simply stocking the usual newsagent fare, it has a small extension packed with the sort of niggly household goods which would generally require a visit to the supermarket - Waitrose, a further five minute walk away and Tesco, 10 minutes in the other direction. It's perhaps a little pricier but you're paying for convenience, and with a license to sell alcohol as well, it's pretty much a one-stop shop for North Kelvinside's student community.
