The facility is clean and secure and the staff is polite and professional. The school uses newer technologies to provide parents with excellent communication and lots of pictures. The principal also regularly sends messages or emails about events, staffing changes, and other happenings at the school. The teachers did a great job implementing the curriculum and our daughter loved working with them. We were also given informative updates about her developmental progress through periodic conferences. Although the COVID pandemic disrupted all daycares in 2020, the school handled it as well as they could. Overall, Touchstone took great care of my daughter and set her up to succeed in elementary school, and I highly recommend it.

My sister, their mother, and I noticed that this location feels like all business and no regard to making connections with families like how the Beaverton location has. Whenever we get a chance to talk to the former Beaverton teachers, they always make us feel welcome as always. But not the Hillsboro team and sorry to say even the Hillsboro principal doesn't feel genuine. It feels like when parents talk to her, it goes in one ear and out another. I understand that you want business to thrive but you also have to make an effort to make people feel welcome. We really miss the Beaverton location and wish it will open again. The teachers feel like family, are always happy and have the time to address any concerns you have or small talk. You can tell that the Beaverton teachers truly care about your child and your family. The Hillsboro team does not make you feel that way. There are also some safety concerns. My niece told me that one of the teachers of the younger class forgot some children on the playground while going inside. My niece's class, the older kids, were still playing while the younger ones were going inside. The main door is on the older kid playground area. The teacher of the younger class went inside and left 2 students outside. Thank goodness there was another class outside because my niece's teacher noticed this and brought the children inside. I don't know if the other teacher was talked to about forgetting her students. Another safety concern is that recently they decided to open the emergency side door exit for the older classes to make going home time faster since there is always a long line. So that door is open and the teacher just lets the child out, but having to stay by the door because they're supposed to stay with the rest of the class. I understand that they want to make it convenient for families to make the pick up time faster, but the teacher isn't able to personally bring the student out to their families. What if the child gets hurt on the way? And what about the children in the classroom? If the teacher is in the doorway watching a child go to their family, who is watching the kids inside? I would truly give this school 0 stars but give it 2 stars since we still keep in touch with the Beaverton transferred teachers and they ALWAYS make us feel welcome.

Their independence and confidence has come along in leaps and bounds. Heather is a highly experienced teacher. It's clear she loves teaching and is gifted at it. She cares deeply about her students in a way only someone who has a calling to teaching could. As parents, we appreciate all the tidbits of knowledge she shares with us that have helped us overcome some of our parenting challenges at home. We are happier parents and have happier children. She also brings her musical talent to school (she is a professional jazz singer) and it's been wonderful to watch our children's love of music blossom as they sing the songs they've learned at school. We would highly recommend this school to other families in the area who are looking for a Montessori school.

Its…read morebeen a blessing to not only have our children attend but has given us, as parents, a valuable experience in being a part of high-performing and demanding school. I came across their location and website with a Google Map search looking for Preschools. The preschool itself makes use of a few rooms of Hillsboro Presbyterian Church. Though its not directly affiliated with the church, the school does share Christian values, by having themes during each month (ex: Respecting others, Self-control, Honesty, Patience, and Kindness). As the title of the school implies, it implements a program based on the work of Maria Montessori. The school also make use of methods based on the book Love & Logic when dealing with issues or areas of conflicts with kids. The kids typically get a lesson on an item of their choosing or something they're encouraged to work on. From there the child works on demonstrating proficiency and is on to their next piece of work. The emphasis is definitely on the child's "work". The kids start a project and can return to it each and everyday until they get it done. They learn how to respect one another, each others' space/work areas, ask for assistance when needed, and how to politely move around. Its not only about work and learning, there's time for play, outdoors in a safe play area, or a large indoor playroom for running around and burning off extra energy. They plant flowers in a garden, have a field day near the end of the year, and hold 2 concerts, 1 before Christmas break and 1 before the end of the school year. They have 1 field trip a year, when they visit a local pumpkin farm or an apple orchard during the fall. We couldn't ask for a more well-rounded preschool and more loving teachers. Heather and Kaycee really are angels to our kids. Guiding them, celebrating their achievements, and making them feel warm and welcome at all times. I will forever be thankful for having come across this school, making the choice to apply/register, and having the opportunity to get our children enrolled. God bless you, and thank you for reading our review.

When questioned they tried to weasel out claiming some nonsensical, "sOmeTiMeS iT wOrKs OuT tHiS way." This year, both Christmas and New Years were on Wednesday. Obviously I wouldn't expect them to be open on the Holidays, but I couldn't believe they still charged me for the entire month even though we only had TWO lessons in the entire month (EDIT: Well, I guess Jan 1 is a new month, but whatever). This has always infuriated me, but if it happens once or twice a year I can excuse it. However, twice!? It feels like being charged double. Again, I have no complaints with the instructors or product itself. In fact, I have ONLY POSITIVE things to say about them. My daughter loves her class! That said, I'd highly advise against putting your kid in a Monday or Friday class as most Holidays just tend to fall on those days and they will charge you for the missed classes regardless.

No matter where you go or what type of "program" a school says they base their teaching strategies on its honestly all about the teachers and WMI has some of the most caring and nurturing of people around. They are so caring welcoming they make your child feel safe while allowing them to be independent and respectful and have some ownership in their learning and school. The students- AMAZING. They are the most well behaved group of kids you will ever meet... And happy!! Because they model after each other and the teachers are good at modeling discussing/explaining reasons for why we respect each other and act the way we act everyone is happy and just respectful of each other. I had a friend tour who was weirded out and Said it wasn't natural to be this well behaved almost cult like... But it just shows you kids can be respectful playful well behaved little people if they are expected to be. The friend actually toured and did an "experiential day" with the school and actually has her daughter starting end of the month!!! The director- joy is amazing and really caring for her student.. They all love her to pieces. I will say honestly she sometimes is a little disorganized with parents (forgets scheduled meetings with parents from time to time) but never lacks with the children. I think she just has tons on her plate teaching/training/running and amazing school that things fall through the crack sometimes. She really wants the family to be really involved in the community which is great. She is also very easily reached/available and in constant communication with parents. The one negative that I can think of is they don't help wipe the kids if they are potty trained. They want them to be independent and do it on their own. My daughter has come home multiple times with skid marks because I just don't think she can reach that far. I have mentioned it before but not seriously talked to the school about it. Honestly though... There is no other school that I would trust with teaching the right morals and learning how to interact in a community to become fully functioning little people than WMI. You will not regret your decision for going....

I am the grandmother of a two-year-old who has been attending Montessori Cares for nearly a year…read more While we are able to provide her full-time care ourselves, we've seen that the environment here is far more beneficial to her overall development. Socially and academically, the growth has been remarkable--especially in her speech, confidence, and ability to express herself. She is learning valuable practical skills, from simple independence at the table to problem-solving with puzzles. She loves reading, responds beautifully to her teachers, and is thriving in a child-centered, self-paced environment. We don't simply see progress--we see confidence, independence, and joy. The Montessori approach, focused on independence and hands-on learning, has truly been a gift to her development. After 27 years at an elementary school, I can say with complete confidence: children thrive when they are allowed to learn at their own pace and according to their individual interests. This is the difference between a child who keeps up--and a child who truly excels...where learning is not just beneficial, it's TRANSFORMATIONAL! We feel a deep sense of peace knowing she is being so well prepared for the future. The "first five" years are critical, and this school is providing an exceptional foundation. Mrs. Khan is extraordinary--attentive, intuitive, and deeply invested in each child. After our granddaughter returned from a hospital stay, she noticed subtle weight loss that others might have missed. That level of care speaks volumes. She truly KNOWS and loves her students. It was a seamless transition as Mrs. Khan was one of the first to start curriculum on Zoom. To be honest it seemed as if she had this as a back-up plan all along. As changes occurred she was in constant communication through email or phone call. I never felt as if we were out of the loop or abandoned, in fact I could hardly keep up. Mrs. Khan was thorough in addressing any of our needs. She offered us all some type of relief; special arrangements for the essential-working parents in need of childcare, also financial adjustments to accommodate the changes and any job loss. Virtual circle time, math and language classes yielded show-and-tells along with homework. The children engaged with their teachers and classmates during extracurriculars such as Music, yoga/meditation, and storytime. We all did our part making this new normal work out for our children. The effort put forth from Mrs. Khan and her team is to be praised. I am very grateful for this school and its wonderful teachers. Thank you for all you do and for the loving patience you have with our kids.
