Ghouls, Terrifying Clowns, Crypt Keepers and ALL things that go bump in the night! THREE Haunted Houses at THE HAUNT and Harvest Festival made our hearts pound and scream over and over again. It was awesome! We bought 3-pack tickets to go to all 3 experiences: 1. The underground Tunnel of Terror (Like movies Saw, Get Out and Texas Chainsaw combined) 2. Hallway of Darkness (Just red balloons and clowns) and 3. Creepy Barns (Eerie, dark, headless horseman vibe plus spiders). PLUS Live, local band music with Beer Garden, Carnival munchiez including turkey legs, funnel cakes, deep fried yummy goodness. Carnival rides, Jumpers and Painting pumpkins for young kids. Many folks came in costume and it was thrilling to see all the creative Halloween fun! BIG PLUS: FREE Parking, Close to Freeway and Admission was FREE, do need tickets for Rides and Haunted Houses.

I've stayed here with the wife and kids multiple times and will again. Full hook ups, close parting for any Toads. Susan is super accommodating there as well. Safe location, close to downtown and IV. If you're looking for a resort, this isn't it. If you do want a night's rest or a spot close to everything SB has to offer at a reasonable price, it's awesome! The only major knock I'd have, and it doesn't bother me, is that spaces are tight. Just enough room for slides.

It may be easier to mention what does not come to the Earl Warren Showgrounds rather than list the Santa Barbara fair, home shows, craft shows, gem shows, dog shows, wedding shows and gun shows. There's flower shows and horse shows too. Horses are what they do best with a large number of stables and the Kramer arena. There's also great rental opportunities with the Exhibit building and Waren Hall. I've been to a few hosted events in these buildings and enjoyed my time and the location. I even buy my Christmas tree in the lot each year. I'm sure you'll find something to do there too.

Showgrounds are always dirty so to have low ratings means something really bad is going on.

Well done haunted house!! I was super impressed. My friend bought us tickets + front of the line…read morepasses (thank you Randy!!) and we showed up when they opened so we were one of the first to go in. His reasoning was that its better so we wouldn't "see others getting scared and have too many spoilers". There were 100+ rooms filled with realistic props. Everything from the special effects, the human props, to the smells of the place was super legit. You could tell so much effort was made to make this place come to life. I wish I could have spent more time looking closely at the props because they were so well made!! I think the place was so huge because it was a closed down department store at some point. At the end, they have a mini store where they sell stickers, tarot cards and all sorts of heebie jeebies. Highly recommend!!

This is a very long haunted house type maze which had a lot of creative scares. Experience: This experience is like no other. I enjoyed that they staggered the groups so you got to experience all the timed scares. This is different from things like Halloween Horror Nights where you are crammed in a slow moving line and can barely get scared because of how crowded it is. I don't want to spoil the scares, but I can say that they were very cool and nothing I've seen or experienced before. The whole experience is about 30 minutes and each room is so well decorated. I would say though that you have to wait about 30-45 minutes in line to get into the experience though even with the timed entry due to how popular it is. Price: Reasonably priced for the quality of experience you got! They put so much effort into decorating. Parking: Located in a mall, so parking is plentiful and secure. We had no trouble finding parking.

Solvang Scarecrow Fest - In front of True Addiction

    Solvang Scarecrow Fest

This year is the seventh annual Scarecrow Fest in Santa Ynez Valley. How did I just hear about this…read moreevent?? This was so much fun!! I had a few hours to kill so I wandered into Solvang to window shop. Quickly I noticed the adorable decorations and window displays. What could this be about? At one of the displays I found the information on the ballot sheet. There are over 100 businesses participating in Solvang and surrounding areas in the Santa Ynez Valley. On the ballot sheet is a map to all the participating businesses and organizations so you can be sure to not miss any. Voters can walk around (or drive for further out scarecrow locations) and enjoy all the different scarecrow and holiday displays. Voting categories include Most Danish (cuz it's Solvang after all), Best Photo Opportunity (you are encouraged to take pics with displays when possible and upload to FB or tweet them), Best Use of Business Theme, Most Humorous, Spookiest and Best Use of Recycled Materials. There was an incredible variety of displays showing different strengths, themes and artistic interpretations of Scarecrows. I felt like this was kind of a scavenger hunt as I ran through the streets trying to find all the different scarecrows. Unfortunately I didn't see too many others walking around participating, but I did notice that almost all the tourists (and some locals) were really enjoying the displays. Some of the window displays were difficult to take pictures of because of glare issues. I was in the city early in the day and not all businesses had their scarecrows out at that time, so I noticed a few extra as I was on my way out of the city. Scarecrow Fest this year goes from October 7 - November 7. Ballots need to include a name, email address and zip code for the votes to count. There are ballot boxes throughout the city to drop your completed ballots before the last day. The grand winner will be announced at the Haunted House and Street Fest on October 29th. Category winners will be announced on their website www.syvscarecrows.com at the end of the voting period. This was a ton of fun and a creative way to get visitors to explore the culture and climate of Santa Ynez Valley. I would definitely recommend checking it out, especially if you are an autumn junkie like me. This is something I will look forward to for many years to come.

Stoney Point Haunt - Front display of a graveyard coming alive with clowns on a Carousel celebrating the dark side

The house itself is perfectly nestled in what I imagined could be a quiet New England neighborhood. As you approach, you see the silhouettes of gravestones through fog and spooky green and purple lighting. Calliope music and a child's soft voice wafts towards you and you catch movement in the graveyard. Coming closer you see the "child" and you clearly hear her cautioning you. The front yard is used to great advantage as it curves around the house, with such attention to detail, from the skeletons on their eternal carousel ride, complete with the creepy ear worm worthy circus music, the ornaments on the tree, and an actual child (the haunter's daughter) surreally caps the display by meandering around the graves before heading to the tree swing to play in the cemetary. The front porch transports you to an episode out of the Twilight Zone. A cadaverous mother rocks her dead child to sleep under an antique lamp, near a broken TV while an old clock's hands spin out of time in a wash of blue light. There is also a sound activated knive-wielding masked nurse that is offering COVID tests. Which is easily the scariest part of this 2020 Halloween season.
