The reviews seemed overall pretty good, so I took my dog over at around 9:30am. The gated park has small dog and large dog sides and is mainly gravel and dirt. My dog is around 60 pounds so we entered on the large dog side. Before we could even get into the actual park, two husky-like dogs ran to the front entrance and barked profusely, blocking the entrance. My dog, who is extremely submissive, turned away like he didn't want to enter, so I hesitated, looking around for the owner(s) of the two dogs to see if they were in fact friendly and this was expected "playful" behavior. No one seemed concerned so I opened the gate a little to let the dogs sniff one another. Keeping my dog on a leash, we proceeded into the park. As I'm shutting the gate, a woman perched on a nearby bench instructed me that "it would be better to take my dog off the leash." Wow, thanks so much for this, ma'am. I never imagined I'd be graced with such invaluable wisdom from the park's self-appointed overseer I will likely not go back here. It's just a bunch of cliquey old white people standing around in groups. The dogs are fine, but would prefer a park with grass anyway. read more

My dog Opie got attacked at this park by two doodles on 8/8/2024 at ~ 5pm. The doodles are grey colored and white colored. The two owners did absolutely NOTHING to help and did not provide any of their information. BEWARE!!! They are a Caucasian couple, late 60's/early 70's. if you see them, beware that their dogs are aggressive and will attack!!!! If you know who they are, PLEASE contact me! read more

Favorite dog park which gives you a hint of the creek + woods alongside 2 humongous small dog park & big dog park. Plenty of parking & the forest trees provide plenty of shade even during golden hour. The dogs & their owners there are pretty friendly so it's an excellent place to socialize your pup! read more

I really like this park and I've visited many times without any issues. A couple of times there were questionable owners who really didn't have control over their dogs and probably should not have been at the park. More often than not, our visits have been just fine. I tend to frequent during the weekdays but I brought my corgi to the park on a weekend and that was a mistake. If you own a corgi or know anything about them, they are very much big dogs in a (somewhat) small dog's body, therefore we always bring him to the big dog park. It's never been an issue at this park or any other large dog park, for that matter. Today, however, was a different story. Upon opening the gate, my dog was bulldozed by a large white (maybe mixed) dog. I had to physically push her off of him and hold her back to keep her from continuing to rough my dog up. Apparently, it's a rule to ask the large dog owners if it's ok to bring my smaller dog...which I've never had to do before at this or any other park and never had an issue with but ok. I'm down to respect the rules. However, I've never been here during this time of the weekend, but I'm automatically expected to know the rules that suddenly apply at this time. Cool. As if my dog getting knocked over and bitten wasn't bad enough, the attacker's owner pulled out every excuse under the sun as to why I was in the wrong and I should have asked and etc etc. instead, you know, apologizing for his dog's aggression towards newcomers (to her) at the gate. But because she's a (and these are his words, not mine) a "gate nazi" that it's ok. No. Just no. If you can't control your dog at any point in the dog park visit, the issues lies not with the others dog but with you and your dog. To make things worse, from my time here, it looks like other owners have to take it upon themselves to discipline this dog if she shows aggression. Get a grip and take responsibility for your dog's terrible behavior. Long story short, this park definitely has its good moments and its bad moments. If you've never been here before, please keep a close eye on your dog during their first few visits because apparently dogs of all levels of aggression are brought here. Use your best judgement. I wish I didn't have to say this but there are too many flat out irresponsible owners who come here and ruin it for everyone else. read more

There is a group of older folks that come to this park mainly on the small dog side. One of them told my dog to go away because they didn't want his slobber. THIS IS A DOG PARK. Just because you have gone to this park for a long time doesn't mean the park is yours and you shouldn't be rude to other people's dogs. I have been to this park plenty of times in the afternoons/evenings and seen a group of older people that meet there and they have always been nice to us and our dog. It was a great park. Having a duel sided park one for large breeds and another for small. Most dogs behave themselves. A few scuffles along that way. But that was due to lack of supervision by owners. Our dog made friends that he would see on occasion. The plus was the swimming pools to fill up with water to play on hot summer days. Our dog loved that. The park it's self is an over 8. But I do want to bring up a group of YT ppl who congregate in the mornings. Seems to be a very secluded group of individuals with self entitlement that made feel uncomfortable being a person of color. Where they would show aggression towards my dog. Because he slobbered them. What you expect. Your in a dog park. It's goes without saying your gonna get dirty. Don't hang out and picnic in the dog park. That's why there's an adjacent park for that purpose. If your looking for a quick place to take your dogs. I recommend. But be in the look out for you and o who will not treat you and your dog with respect. read more

This dog park has a lot of sand but plenty of trees. At least the small dog section have more grass. This enclosed park have a few picnic tables and a small playground. The most beautiful part of this park is walking on the bridge and looking toward the Creek below. However, there is a private area where trespassers are prohibited. The park is next to a couple of expensive mansions so expect the park ranger to come out before dark to make sure the park is cleared out. read more

Earl Warren is a great small park located in Castro Valley off Center St. There's a decent amount of open space to run around and have a good time, but not quite enough to play a pickup game of two hand touch. The biggest draw is probably the dog play area located in this park. There are a few picnic tables and benches as well as barbecues so you can have junior's bday party. The creek runs through the park and there's a nice wooden bridge spanning it. The dog park area has separate enclosures for large dogs and small dogs. Both enclosures were decent size, with grassy areas and trees. There is also a good supply of poop bags in the "air lock" area. Bottom Line: A great place to take Wags and Scamp for a little canine mingling. And if you don't mind a few dogs barking it can be a pretty nice spot for a park party, just be sure to watch where you're walking... read more

Eh, it was ok. Hard to find. I guess there's an entrance by a school, I have no idea how to get there. If you turn off Castro Valley, by the Earl Warren park sign, then turn right down the small road, it will look blocked by a gait but it isn't. It will take you to a small parking lot, with somebody's backyard dog barking ferociously at you the entire time you are in the lot. Cross the wooden bridge to get to the park. The park is small but serviceable. There is a jungle gym and play area for kids, some janky looking bathrooms, and grassy areas. It's not bad but I'd much rather go to a nicer park if I were going on a picnic or hanging out. read more

I went here for the first time today, it was a bit rainy and my dog hasn't had a lot of dog park experience. There was more then enough room for large dogs and it looked like plenty for small dogs as well. There is also a playground, so my husband was able to take my 2 year old to play on the swings while I stayed with the dog. Even with the not great weather we were never alone. When we got there there was maybe 5 other dogs mine could play with and when we left there were 4 and we saw 2 more coming even as we left during the rain. At the lowest there were still 2 other dogs with us plus more on the small dog side the whole time. There is plenty of parking and covered seating for the people. There are tons of balls as well and a place for dogs to drink. We saw a little dog poop but not much. I will be going back. read more

Earl warren park is considered the Castro valley dog park. They have a large and small dog area. The park also has newly remodeled restrooms and a horseshoe pit in the back . A couple of picnic tables and a small playground .. there is also access to look at the creek from crossing a bridge that leads to a secondary parking lot ... park is hard to find if coming off center st. read more

I think it is a great little park. My wife and I walk from our house to the park. The people and the dogs are very friendly. Hey considering with all the budget cut backs local government is going through, I think the park is in really good shape. read more

I'm only doing a review about the dog park. I take my dog here because it's close to my house and there is a fenced off-leash area for dogs. There's a separate area for big dogs and small dogs which is good because I have a small dog. It's not a really big dog park but big enough for my dog to run around and play with the other dogs. Most of the people and dogs that I've met here are friendly and nice. read more

If you have a small dog, don't bring them to this park!!! There are 2 areas, 1 for lg and 1 for SMALL dogs. I brought my 8 # & 11 # and found obnoxious rude dog owners who have med and large dogs in the small dog section. When I asked that they please put their dogs in the approproaye section so small dogs could be in the small dog section without being terrorized I was screamed at and told to leave!!! I drove through once. Once just to check it out, seemed like a fair number of people use it. The second time, we realized there was no grass and only dirt and gravel, and what looked like foxtails. We have a long haired pup and that's pretty dangerous to get them caught in her fur. We didn't like the way the park looked, or the random, questionable looking people loitering in the parking lot (with no dog) so we didn't go there. Luckily I was with my boyfriend and we took a walk along the walkway instead. It goes over a bridge then some random, lame dead end. What was the biggest issue that will keep me from visiting is the big spray painted "RAPE" with an arrow pointing into the park. Totally NOT cool. I'd rather drive to a different area than feel uncomfortable. Not much of a park, really. read more

Most run down park in CV! The play structure has seen better years. It's filled with graffiti, the sand is dirty & I always see teenagers in the park smoking pot. The swings are the only redeeming part of the play structure. And the bridge although rickety is fun to walk across. read more

DO NOT GO!!! PEOPLE ARE CLICKY, LAZY and STUPID!!! DOGS ARE NOT TRAINED!! I live LITERALLY less than a 1/4 mile from this park and up until about 3 months ago things were great. What I have encountered the last not one, not two BUT THREE times has appalled me. Either people are getting stupider and lazier or dogs are getting more aggressive. My poor 3 yr old 50lbs FIXED female LabPit mix was BITTEN yet again by another dog. My dog cowers to BEAGLES. She sleeps with our 7 year old daughter every night. She is harmless. No provocation, the dog was hanging around after breaking away from it's "pack" (a group of owners throwing balls, no big deal) after we arrived chasing balls next to mine for about 5 - 10 min when I realized my dog just wanted to fetch and this other dog was hindering that process. I took attempts to distract said dog with balls and fake outs to no avail, the dog stayed right by my dogs side. About the time the lazy owner (she had been calling for a while to Sexxie or Lexi or whatever the hell the dogs name was to "come") she finally walked (a good 50 yards) over to get her when the dog lashed out and BIT Roxy on the neck! She continued to do this as I tried to reach for her and get her loose. I had her in my hands and this stupid mutt came after us again. Out of fear of being bit myself let go and Roxy ran a circle to get away and ANOTHER effing dog comes up and bites ROXY! Roxy is ON THE GROUND being bit. W-T-F people - LITTLE HELP??? So these chromosome lackers finally get their mutts under control and I am checking Roxy for bites. I FINALLY hear "Is SHE OK??" To which I replied "She is NOW." Un-effing-believable. They CANNOT be from town, too stupid.I left. What a bunch a a**holes. I will NEVER go back. Unless people learn to control their damned dogs find another park. Ugh! read more

It is a great park, has two entrances one from Crow Canyon and the other from Paradise Knolls. The park itself is behind a middle school. There is a dog park that was put in about seven years ago. They have a small play ground and a swing set. The bathrooms were remodeled a few years ago. It is hidden away making a bit hard to get to. As well, when I was in high school, the park did loose a few hundred feet of land because of the new fencing between the dirt track owned when the middle school the school district decided to erect a new fence. As well, track is always locked even though at one point it was accessible to the public, currently it is not. read more

Went to the park for a family gathering and although the park had tables and BBQ pits, the sprinklers did not go off. As they rotated through their turn, at first they were sprinkling in the childrens play area for about 3 hours, then they opened up near the tables and bbq pits and never went off. The field was so saturated with water that the children had to go to the school to play. That was the biggest complaint I had, is that the sprinklers never shut off. read more
