I like to do my own repairs as much as possible, but there are certain things that the YouTube…read moreschool of auto mechanics just hasn't helped me with, (especially since I don't have I garage full of cool tools, and a car lift). John is a fast, friendly and honest mechanic. He changed my '05 Ram 1500's brake rotors (and, obviously, pads), and a leaking power steering fluid cooler. Even better, he did so in about 3 hours on a Saturday. On top of that that, he did the job for about half of what the Dodge dealer was asking (my wife) for. Also, he didn't try to rip me off with an up-sell, even though the opportunity was there...he correctly identified a few other issues (that actually were known issues). He mentioned these issues, but didn't try to pressure me to have them addressed at this time. The next time I have any mechanical issue, with any of my rides, like Arnold says, "I'll be back..." to Smitty's.

I live in North Carolina, and I had to find a place quickly on my way back home…read more My mechanic down here gave me a list of places that this place wasn't a part of because of some sort of "network" my mechanic is part of. I decided to go with this place anyway and I am so glad I did. Not only was he able to fix my issue on such a short notice, but Steve personally handled this. For the price: he was less than what AI was telling me other places charge within the area. I never felt like I didn't know the status of my vehicle, I never felt like I was in the dark, and I never felt like I wasn't "family". I have already recommended this place to my family up here, and a lot of friends in the area. Hands-down, Steve's is the best mechanic I've ever had the blessing to run into. Seriously, why would you go anywhere else if you're within the Toledo area? 100 out of 10.

It was Sunday afternoon so I figured no place would be open but a quick Yelp search turned up Car Medic! It was 5:30pm and their listed hours say they close at 6 but I took the chance and went anyway. They stayed late to take a look at my transmission, said they didn't see a crack or leak, but it was low on fluid so they topped it off and sent me on my way. They were really nice and honest -- they could have told me anything and I would have believed them. They charged me 1/2 hour labor and that was it. The lobby area was messy and dirty but other than that I was very impressed.

Spent the night in a local hotel and called Toledo Auto Care the next morning to set up an appointment the next day. Turned out it was just some dirty oil that needed changing. The mechanic showed me the brakes and let me know that they were going to need changing sometime in the near future, but it wasn't anywhere close to the in-your-face sales pitch that some auto shops give you. I left Toledo Auto Care with a healthy care and a healthier state of mind. They treat their customers right here, and if I'm in the area again this will be my number one choice for any car repairs.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND Toledo Auto and Tire !!!!!!!!!!!! I took…read moremy Audi to this shop to have the spark plugs changed before a road trip, and they assured me they could handle the job without hesitation. Unfortunately, about a month later, my car stopped turning over. I took it to another shop to have it diagnosed, and I was shocked to find out that Toledo Auto and Tire shop had installed Chrysler spark plugs in my Audi. That could have potentially caused serious issues if I hadn't caught it when I did. If they didn't have the correct parts, they should have been upfront about it instead of making a substitution without telling me. The work should be done correctly--not just done for the sake of saying it's finished. I would not trust this shop with my vehicle again, not even for something as simple as a tire change. Their prices may be cheap, but in my experience, the quality of the work matched the price. I'd rather pay more at a reputable shop and know the job is being done properly. Based on my experience, I do not recommend this shop. Please do your research and make sure the shop working on your vehicle is using the correct parts and following proper procedures.

Turns out it was the brakes and rotors crying for help. They didn't just stop there (pun intended), Kevin walked us through everything in detail, with the kind of transparency most places lack. Price? Super fair. Turnaround? Fast enough to make pit crews jealous, we could have picked it up in a few hours, but left it overnight as we were too busy that evening. Extra points for honesty: Kevin even told us the rear brakes didn't need replacing yet. Talk about not trying to pad the bill (brake pad joke--couldn't resist).
