I had a very frustrating experience with the USF Hearing Clinic and want to share it so others know…read morewhat to expect. Before my appointment, I asked twice--once by phone and again in person--whether the clinic had verified my insurance and what my total cost would be. Both times I was told that they had run my insurance and that my responsibility would only be my $40 specialist copay. After the appointment, I learned that the clinic billed my insurance using diagnostic audiology procedure codes instead of an office-visit code. This created a much higher bill and an unexpected balance of $56.73 that was never disclosed to me beforehand. I only found out after receiving my Explanation of Benefits. Trying to resolve the issue made things worse. My emails went unanswered, I was not given accurate billing contact information, and when the clinic finally called me, the staff member became argumentative, talked over me, and blamed my insurance company instead of addressing the discrepancy. It was unprofessional and extremely frustrating. Patients deserve accurate cost information, transparent billing, and respectful communication. Unfortunately, my experience at this clinic did not reflect those standards. I recommend getting all cost information in writing and being very cautious before scheduling here.

She is caring, compassionate, and truly goes above and beyond for her patients. I've worn my cochlear implant for five years, and she's the first audiologist who has taken the initiative to do testing I've never experienced before. She thinks outside the box to find solutions tailored to my specific needs, and for the first time, I actually look forward to my appointments. In the past, I dreaded going because I always left feeling disappointed, but now I leave feeling heard, supported, and hopeful. She is a rare find in the medical field, and I am so grateful for her dedication and expertise.

I appreciated the follow-up visits, the discounted batteries I was able to find there and the prompt action taken on any problems. However, by the end of the 3-year period when all my visits were covered, I became very aware that I needed more assistance than these hearing aids were providing. I went for the final hearing test and Paul confirmed my feelings. Instead of just leaving me hanging, he suggested I test some new hearing aids on a 45-day trial. Until a decision was made, there was a $498 deposit. I paid that on May 12th and started my trial. I tried the aids until June 1st, when I was convinced they were not for me. I returned the hearing aids, much to Paul's chagrin. My $498 deposit has still not been returned! I am very disappointed, to say the least. Phone calls and messages have not disputed the facts - or have not been answered. I used a debit card to avoid the 3% credit card fee, so Audibel had access to the money pretty much instantly. Now I have had to dispute the charge with my bank. I don't know why a business would take the chance of ruining its reputation over this. However, I do want future customers to be aware.

I…read morewas diagnosed with cataracts at this facility and monitored for over a year, during which time surgery was repeatedly and strongly recommended. After spending significant out-of-pocket funds on consultations and diagnostic tests, I sought a second opinion at Orlando Health. The findings at Orlando Health directly contradicted the diagnosis provided by St. Luke's; I was informed that cataracts are not present. The discrepancy between these two evaluations is deeply troubling. I encourage everyone to be their own advocate and seek a second opinion when facing a surgical recommendation at this practice
