It's a shame that a film nominated for an academy award for it's Cinematography can be so easily butchered by a cinema chain who seemingly doesn't care about representing the artists work true to it's intentions. On top of the subpar projection, lights were left way too bright during the entire movie so it made it hard to concentrate on the film.

Service is soooo sloooooow especially as now you often have to buy your tickets from the food counters, so you have to wait ages while people decide what size bucket of coke they want... Once you're in the screens themselves things aren't too bad - sound and vision are generally of a good standard. The air-con is however overenthusiastic so if you're of a chilly disposition remember to take some warm clothes! The sign at the entrance of the ladies warns that "male and female cleaners service these facilities" but I have to conclude that neither had been near them for quite some time...at least four loos were out of order and most of the ones that weren't needed a darn good clean (I guess you have to point a large finger of blame at the manky people who don't know a) how to flush a toilet or b) that any more than about 20 sheets of loo paper is likely to lead to a serious blockage.... Added to the fact it's now damn expensive (£10.45 per adult to see the 3D Christmas Carol film) to go to the cinema I was reminded why I don't often bother these days. Far nicer to stay warm, have clean loos and cheap eats at home with a DVD!

Nowadays we appreciate and build those bikes for the nostalgia and esthetic they bring to the table. The same can be said about Ace, it doesn't forget where it came from. The establishment feels as close as it would have back when it was originally operating. There's even a juke box in there (not sure if it works), but I doubt people still place bets if you can get to the next café before the song is over playing hahaha. The food is pretty decent, but I can only attest to the "quick bites" portion of the menu since I wasn't too hungry. I ordered the tuna sandwich with an iced coffee. They don't go well together, but I had to have coffee there! How can I go to ace café and not drink any of their coffee?! That's like saying you went to San Francisco and didn't visit the golden gate bridge. People were very kind and fun to converse with. No matter where you are the biker community is always friendly and that's what I can say about this place and their customers. They also host bike nights and events. I only wish that I could attend with a bike, but since they're stuck in the states I don't imagine that will happen any time soon. Ultimately I'm extremely happy I was able to go to the place that started café racers because those bikes are what got me into riding in the first place. I never would have thought I'd be able to visit, so you should too if you can!!

We got chatting to loads of bikers outside and one girl enthusiastically jumped on her bike to pose for me when she saw I had my camera with me. The Ace Cafe is THE motorcycle venue in London. The great thing about the Ace cafe is it's open 24 hours so when you are cruising about on your bike late at night you can always call in here for a coffee and meet some kindred spirits. The Ace Cafe website has a great archive of black and white photographs from the 1940s, 50s and 60s, which i love looking at. It's all about rock and roll and bikes really.

After some time guzzling pitchers of Pimms Cup in the garden, we made our way inside for the show. Hats off to these performers. For the Friday evening Cabaret you have to book ahead which only cost £5 up to the last 2 weeks before which is when it goes up to £8 and you get to watch some weird and wonderful cabaret acts during the course of the evening. As far as the acts were concerned it was a bit hit and miss and I was expecting a few more. We had a hula hooper and a contortionist which was insane to watch!! An aerial hoop act which was impressive but quite short, a juggler who probably didn't need to be there and the finale .... Rayguns Look Real Enough who were a comedy music mashup duo who were fabulous!! Highlight of the evening! As a while though I think the acts were a but hit and miss and unfortunately the compere wasn't going down too well either!! Oh well!! But the evening was incredibly fun and once they cleared away the stage it turned into a dance floor and the DJ played an array of hits from 50's through to today with a lot of emphasis on 80's and 90's hits which were great to sing and dance along to. Before the show started we did have a table so we could eat food and there was your usual selection of burgers and salads etc. I went for the veggie falafel burger and to be honest it was extremely bland and needed a hell of a lot more tzatiki and condiments to improve it's flavour! It's great that I was subjected to the usual fried vegetable burger and there was a mushroom risotto on the menu but the burger definitely needed more flavour. It was a bit more like mushed falafel and falafel needs to be a little more grainy I think!! The chips were good though, hand cut, crispy edges and soft in the middle - mmm!! As for drinks they do have a selection of ales on tap, some local, a porter and a stout that were exciting some and all the other usual things a pub can offer. Price wise I think it was pretty reasonable. All in all we did have a great evening and I probably would go again. The place is new so it is probably still getting it's sea legs a little but do pop down for an alternative evening of circus acts and then fun music to dance the night away to - we stayed so late it was a night bus home!! Always a good sign!! Xyz

Actually, it's better than decent, it is FANTASTIC. Thank you, thank you, thank you (!!!!) Bush Theatre for introducting not only a cool fringe theatre conversion of our old Library, but a whoppingly fab meeting space, lunch space and overall funky coffee hangout. 'They' have been saying Shepherds Bush is up and coming for years ...! but frankly it takes a dream team to bring cool places into a community and the Bush Theatre team have done exaclty that. Okay you probably get the point. I am a huge fan. Take a detour and check this place out one lazy afternoon or if you work locally. Better still go check out their action-packed fringe theatre performances to expand your mind, cultural map and pop a new west london hangout on your fave list.

I enjoy it on the rare occasions someone invites me along or expresses interest in going to something, whether that "something" is a musical or the ballet or a play. That being said, Bush Theatre provided me a good time for my limited experience with this sort of thing, but with some nice upgrades/surprises: - The converted library venue that is true to its origins. Enjoy your beverage before or after the show in the library full of arm chairs and shelves of leather-bound scripts. - It feels like pub (complete with beer garden), not like a theatre venue. You can walk in and order a drink and feel like you're allowed - and invited warmly to - settle in and enjoy it. Like picture houses, it is designed to provide a place to converse about what you just saw on site. -You can take your beverage into the theatre space. Is that normally allowed? I have no idea, but I'm glad I didn't have to chug my Peroni in order to get a good seat. - A modern stage set up with space for 160ish. I've never been to an intimate venue like this, and was quite caught up in the action literally happening mere inches from me - not up on a traditional stage, either. - Fresh outlook. I was told Bush is one of the only London playhouses that accepts new, outside work. Anyone can send them a play, and they receive something like 400 a week. This sounded impressive to me, but what do I know about these things. All in all, this was a solid modern theatre experience with a traditional London pub vibe
