About a month ago I decided it was time for me to pursue my dream of motorcycling. I checked out some bikes and ultimately decided that learning to ride first was probably the better route to go, so i looked up motorcycle certification courses near me and found Eagles Nest Harley-Davidson in Lathrop, CA. I gave them a call to clarify and was directed to sign up online. I signed up for a weekend course about a week prior to class starting. Sign up was simple and I received my e-mail confirmations immediately and a personalized email from Eric. He was very personable and informative. I was given the option to do what they call a "jump start" before starting the class. The jump start is for people who or completely new to riding, like myself, or just those that want to refresh their knowledge on how to start a bike and shift through the gears. I took that option immediately, especially considering it was of no charge to me. In fact I took that option twice before my class started a week later. lol. Eric went above and beyond professionally. From giving me the best advice possible to fit my circumstances to giving me a loaner jumpsuit so that I didn't have to wait to check things out (first day i went in, i came straight from work in a skirt). Fast forward to the evening of my first class. I go upstairs to where the classroom is and was greeted at the door by Tony. First impressions were good. When I came in, apparently my name was not on their roster, Tony graciously took me in anyway and had me have a seat. Luckily I remembered my confirmation letter, which was checked on to confirm scheduled seat reservations. His teaching techniques included some humor which helped with my anxiety. I guess some people find his humor a little dry, I thought he was funny though. Most importantly he made sure to emphasize each point he made throughout the lecture to ensure we all understood. The next day started at 645am at the Manteca location. There my instructors were Venus and Tony. Now they had some amazing energy. I have pretty intense anxiety sometimes and that morning I was having a really hard time. Venus was the first that I got to meet. You can tell she has been doing this for a while just in the fluidity of the way she transitioned from casual interactions to instructional ones. Plus being a female it made me feel really good having her with all her knowledge and experience there for perspective sake. After walking up to the instructional area for our first card reading the class was greeted by Dave as well. First impressions of him was that maybe he was going to be a hard ass. To my pleasant surprise he really was approachable and informative as well. At one point he gave me some advice, maybe not considered advice, but offered me a distraction from myself when I was overthinking something. Asking me to think of a joke to tell him on the next round. It wasn't the joke that mattered, it was getting me out of my head so that i could relax enough to take in what i was trying to learn. And I did. That afternoon the class went back to the Lathrop location for some more powerpoint presentation and then to take our written exam. Venus taught this class. I really don't know which setting i liked her better in. Although I must say that I did get a lot out of all the extra tidbits of information she gave that were not included in the powerpoint, especially those that emphasized on safety. The second day was an all day on the course riding day. I felt really prepared to be out there. The course objectives were very clear and if I had any questions they were thoroughly answered. No matter how dumb i felt about asking cause sometimes it was simply, can you repeat all of that. lol. When it came down to the drive test at the end of the day I felt actually pretty decent about it, and that is saying a lot considering i have extreme test anxiety. And i know the reason i felt decent about it was because how how the practices were put into play. With each practice lesson integrated into the next eventually leading up to what felt like a repetitive motion. I almost forgot we were testing and not practicing at the end. Over-all this was the best decision I have made for myself in a long time. And even though I passed, I still plan on going back to Eagles Nest Harley Davidson to take them up on some private lessons. Because in being a brand new rider, I can never be too prepared when it comes to my safety and comfortability in riding a motorcycle. Truly don't know where to start here, this was such an awesome and humbling experience that I'm still not over. I'm very much new to the motorcycle scene, heck just even walking into the dealership alone seeing all the bikers alone was intimidating. First I'd like to point out Sue: She was very helpful from the beginning and directed me exactly where I needed to go. She was super easy going and made the process 10x easier!! Sue was the one making the phone calls, getting in contact with me, making sure the every piece of information that I was looking for was available and was making sure all my needs were met. She didn't make me feel dumb for asking any noob-like questions, and also made me feel very welcomed which allowed for such a positive experience. I loved speaking to her, and loved engaging with her ( almost felt like a mother-son experience ). I never felt lost with her, and in my opinion performs her duties exceptionally well, I highly recommend getting in contact with her! Next, My main mans Jack the Fit Specialist! Such an awesome, outgoing, positive, humble dude. My biggest fear was being looked down upon for being a noob rider walking into a Harley dealership; Jack gave me the total opposite experience. Jack helped me from A - Z and made sure I knew what I was doing along the way. I walked in with 0 knowledge about credit, 0 knowledge about Harley's, and 0 knowledge about whatever the hell I was doing lol Jack literally helped me through all of that and I was so grateful. Not only did he give me a breakdown on which Harley would be best suited for me ( I walked out with an 2021 Iron Sportster 1200 that I'm in love with ) , but also gave me a course on building credit and how to manage it properly because I was planning on financing the motorcycle. I learned more about financing and credit in an hour with Jack than I had my whole entire life. Now as a reader, it's easy to say that he's probably just being a salesman and doing salesman tactics to get me to dump some money, I'd like to note that I work at an automotive dealership myself and witness everyday what a money hungry salesman looks like; Jack is 100% not that. Literally made me feel welcomed to the Harley family with open arms. With this mans help, I was able to strike such a good deal on the sportster that I don't think anyone could've backed away from. The biggest thing I'd like to point out was that none of this was rushed. He gave me the time and patience needed, which made it so much easier on my side dealing with the bank and what not. I 1000% seriously recommend this man if you are looking into getting a Harley. I truly think I wouldn't have my sportster today had I been assisted by anyone else! I'd also like to point out the Gentleman Nick and Paul. Two very easy going men, that contributed to my awesome purchase! Paul, was the main hands that was responsible for me getting a good deal on the bike! Some discrepancies came up at the bank, but Paul did his magic and made it work for me! And Nick! Very articulate man when it came to signing the documentation! I'm all about details, and Nick made sure I knew what I was signing for. I'm very iffy with signatures, but Nick made me feel confident every time that pen touched a document. Again, these two men I also highly recommend working with as wel!! After the whole experience, I still have these random urges to go back over even after I purchased my Harley! What I want the reader to get from that is that they really made me feel like family. Great group of knowledgable individuals that I'm glad I got to work with. Not once with these people did I ever receive an ounce of bad service ( trust me I know what bad service is ). They made me feel confident in my decision, made me feel there was 100% transparency going on, and made me feel like I was one of them. Sharing a review covering two excellent experiences with Harley-Davidson Eagles Nest in Lathrop. My 18 year old daughter was interested in learning to ride and I thought it would be fun to take a class together. We signed up for Rider's Academy safety course on the weekend of October 24. The course was two days of half classroom / half riding on Harley Street 500s. It was one of the most fun weekends I can remember. Our instructors were Venus and David - Best. Instructors. EVER. Both my daughter and I had an absolute blast learning and improving our riding skills. Venus is super sassy, and David dropped dad jokes like a pro. The teaching method built confidence while instilling fundamental skills. Much like the original Karate Kid movie, their teaching technique was similar to Mr. Miyagi's "wax-on / wax-off" and "paint the fence". By the end of the weekend they had the whole class "crane-kicking" like pros. I've ridden dirt bikes, but hadn't really been seriously interested in street bikes until the class - now I'm officially hooked. Which leads me to a second amazing experience at the Eagles Nest. After acquiring riding fever over the weekend, I realized the only medication was to get a Harley. Must have looked at over 1000 motorcycles and after talking with a few friends, decided on a denim black 2016 Street Glide Special. It took a couple days for the training team to prepare the CMSP certificate and DMV forms, so before heading down to pick up our paperwork I called the sales team at Eagles Nest and spoke with Paul. He said they had a bike in the back that was exactly what I was looking for. My wife and I jumped in the car and drove to the showroom. Was met by Paul and Eric who worked as a team to show me the bike, walk through the available options, and negotiate price. Both guys know their stuff and I strongly recommend asking for them specifically when going down to the shop. Not only are they knowledgeable and friendly, they work hard to earn your business. They stayed late that night answering all my questions and helping put together our deal. The next day (keep in mind, this is the Wednesday after finishing our class), I swung by the DMV to take the written test, got my license (riding test is covered by CMSP certificate), then headed to Eagles Nest to test ride and pickup my Street Glide Special. Paul and Eric had everything ready to go and provided an exceptional buying experience. Have to also give a shoutout to Nick the finance manager, very cool guy who walked me through all of the paperwork and Holley in merchandise who is a sweetheart and helped me gear up. First time doing a review and a brand new rider. This review will be primarily about the New Rider's Course offered at the Eagle's Nest. The Eagle's Nest staff is really friendly and very approachable. The first time I walked in was due to my curiosity to the rider life and as I looked around, asked a few staff members about their experiences on how they were introduced to motorcycles and why they continued with doing so, I found myself becoming more and more intrigued with how people illustrated their backstories and eventually found myself wanting to know how it felt to ride a bike much sooner than anticipated. Shout out to the staff that managed the apparel section because they were super helpful providing insight on what I should be looking for when it comes to gear. I was a bit nervous asking around for beginner friendly advice from people with years of experience but at some point, I ended up taking their Rider's Training Course. My proctors were Ron Wilborn and Chris Lange and they did a great job of establishing a good foundation for me as a brand new rider and clearly emphasized what new riders should develop a keen awareness of before hitting the streets. It was obvious that through the difficulties of having to teach numerous individuals on motorized vehicles, in a wide environment, underneath their own limited field of vision, it's not easy for them to be able to identify every small thing that every student might've done wrong and needed to practice more on. I have a hearing problem and mentioned it prior to operating my assigned bike on the range and there were some moments that the other students and I experienced in the blindspot of their limited vision where we were simply just trying to learn as best as we can although it might not have seemed that way from another point of view. But despite that, they managed through those teaching difficulties and with their limited field of vision and sense of awareness, they taught the best they can for as many people as they could in that kind of environment and those teachers are the kind of teachers that new riders should definitely learn from to establish good habits and fundamental knowledge as to mitigate risks in their riding abilities later on and ultimately, save their own life if ever a situation on the streets looks a bit dangerous. Also, the occasional cheesy jokes they inserted every once in a while might've been whatever to some at first, but I think the course probably wouldn't be the same without them. Keep 'em coming. Took the Harley's training course the first time at the end of June. As a new rider I was excited about learning how to ride and ride a Harley. I had Rod for class and Rod and Tony on the range. The class had a lot of good information but seemed to be rushed. I'm not sure if the instructor was feeling ok that day. I asked questions because I wanted to get the best out of the course but the instructor (Rod)kinda seem irritated. It kinda felt as though the class was rushed. Needless to say I went out to the range and it felt the same way. As a new rider wanting to join the Harley family I felt out of place because I didn't know how to ride like the rest of my class!! The range was rushed and really no info on how I was doing or what to do to be better. At the end of the first day Rod told me I did great and that he new the bike was small but overall I'm good. I left with confidence and came back the next day. To find out I wasn't that great and failed the course. I asked why was I told I did great and I was ok. His response was I just need more practice. Tony the whole time was the same way even caught him having a attitude when new riders messed up. When I tried to talk to him he was vary cold so I left it alone. Turns out another rider was feeling the same way and after talking to she cussed at them and left. I decided after speaking to Redd to retake the course she was so helpful and understanding I really appreciate her customer service. I had the awesome privilege to have Chris as my instructor. Chris made me feel like I can do this he was helpful he pulled me to the side and gave me pointers and when I did it right he let me know I did. I appreciate he willingness and great training methods. If you can get Chris as a instructor he can really help you!!! I also had Sheila who was awesome and helpful understood were each person was and was able to help strengthen those areas. Thank You Shelia!!!My class teacher when I retook the course was awesome to I can't remember his name but he was detailed and explained everything and was not rushing. When I retook the range tony was back and i notice he avoided me which I appreciate because I wanted to learn and become a safer rider. He was trying to be nice to the other classmates but I was to focused on what Chris was teaching I didn't care. I felt more comfortable on the bike and passed!!! Where to start. 2 weeks ago I took the riding program at eagles nest, Eagle's Nest had a promotion to take the course @ a discounted Rate, so I decided to jump on it before the class filled up, signing up was super easy, I had a few questions regarding the class and what was needed, Redd called me back the next day and she was thorough in answering any questions. Now I have been riding off and on for 12 years and gave up my M1 when my son was born, but then I got the itch again! I took the two day course and meet Ron Wilborn for the in class portion, he gave us a background in his riding experience and then proceeded to educate us on the rules of the road, he gave us what was required for DMV but also what can and would happen in real world situations. During the 2 day course the weather wasn't great and it was raining, but I didn't let that put a damper on my experience, Ron and Tony (course instructor) ensured us that we may be caught in the rain, wet pavement and debris, etc. we all were ready to rock and roll. Both instructors were detailed in their lessons and were very patient with every rider, after the 2nd day I passed my riders exam and written test with ease, never doubted or 2nd guesses any of my answers or actions. All thanks to the wisdom of my instructors! So again THANK YOU RON AND TONY!! 2 days later I was called to receive my DL39 to take my DMV test and wave the riding test. Ana called me and asked if I was interested in buying a new bike, I told her I wasn't really sure if I wanted to trade in my current bike for something different. We made an appointment to meet. Friday rolls around and I stopped in to meet Ana, first impressions, great personality, friendly and listened to my concerns of what I wanted and what I expected. We sat down on a few bikes, see what fit me better, we decided on a 2017 Dyna Street bob! Which I seen on their website. Then comes Brett, the sales manager. Another great person to deal with! He wasn't pushy, he didn't try to up-sale me on something I didn't want. All he wanted was to make sure I left satisfied with whatever the outcome was and to renew my faith in the dealership! Brett and Ana, THANK YOU! The experience, the bike. Just THANK YOU! The entire dealership was friendly. Service, parts, finance and motor clothes were amazing. Well, how the hell should I start this? Lmao. Well, I guess so far so good! My beautiful wife Marina decided to surprise me with an EAGLE'S NEST HARLEY CHRISTMAS!!! ON CHRISTMAS EVE!! HOLY SMOKES RIGHT!!!!??? ! I want my beautiful Wife and Harley at Eagles Nest in Lathrop California to know how much I love them!!! My wife truly made me Happy!!! And SPEECHLESS!!! Also, I love my new family:) go to Eagle's Nest and meet some amazing people and amazing professionals all the way to the start of taking the awesome rider program that had Awesome Instruction in class from Tony, and the same on the skills with Dave and Venus to the sale of a bike with Brett and Eric. Btw, not a smidgen of pressure! Not even for one second.. just an email asking me if I was happy with the experience in the rider program and if I'm going to be looking for a motorcycle soon and if I'm considering buying a Harley. I said I was in the next 3 months and I also said I was considering a Harley. You would think that I would be getting the sales emails and everything else but I did not get a single one. that was it.. NO PRESSURE.... how can I put it????
