Veteran's Park in Alabaster is such a great outdoors venue!…read more I use the walking track around the park as often as I can. The park is a large, multi-use area with trails, playgrounds, and a dog park, with amenities like pavilions, restrooms, and concessions. It hosts baseball/softball tournaments, has a skatepark, disc golf, pickleball courts, and a memorial area with inscribed bricks for veterans. The park is ADA accessible and offers activities for all ages, including fishing in its ponds. There's so much here, I haven't yet explored all of it! One drawback is goose droppings around the walking trails so walk/run carefully! Altogether I can bear with all that as long as I get to share the park with the Canadian Geese!

It's a Saturday night and it's full of little ones with skate mates running in the wrong direction and left to right. I went and talked to them at the front seat their reaction was sorry. Come on that's a horrible response. Not let me get on the mic and try and fix the craziness that's going on. People get hurt because of this. It's been this way the whole night too. If you are a good skater please be aware this might not be a good place for you. Very frustrating!

This place opens at 2:00 PM on Sundays so I decided to drop by at 2:00 PM to beat the crowd. Y'all...there were quite a few folks there. I was surprised to see so many people. Parking was easy. My admission was a bit lower because I had my own skates. It was $10 per person for my husband and kids. There were 3 birthday parties so that might be why there were that many people there on a Sunday. The inside looks like the skating rinks I went to as a kid, which was fine with me. My main goal was to skate so I could break in my new roller skates. I was pleasantly surprised by the music selection. It was a good mix of old and new school music. It was very family friendly. I didn't try any of their food or visit the restrooms so I can't speak on how those things. There were a lot of kids here. I'm going to have to check to see if they have an adult skate night because I did have to watch out for the little ones, but it wasn't too bad. Overall, I had a good time and I'll probably be back soon.

In reality it probably isn't a 5 star, and maybe more worthy of a 4 star. But, for a small (really,…read morevery small) park it has quite a bit going for it. The running/walking track is approx 1/8 of a mile. So it doesn't take too many laps to start logging some miles/steps on your activity tracker. There is a small area for kids to play while adults can do their thing .... everything is open and visible. It isn't high traffic so it feels very safe. If you are a little more adventurous, on the back side of the park, there is a path that actually leads across to the school. There are a couple bridges that cross over Buck Creek and seem to be the perfect stopping spot for most people getting their pooches out to let them stretch their legs as well. Typically not many people, but on a nice weekend morning you may cross paths with 12 - 15 people if you spend an hour or so here. All in all a pretty nice little park. If you want to get out and enjoy the outdoors with a pretty casual environment (not hilly at all), this is a good place to check out.

That's the nostalgia here. It's apparent that this park is older, but we loved the character and charm it brought. There were many older signs, even older walkways not in use, but the scenery and birdwatching was beautiful. The kids stations dotting the trail, of times past, were fun to look at and even interact with. The creek was clean and had a trash filtering system in place. The trail was clean as well and mostly gravel/rock. Our favorite part was the creek's dam and manmade falls from it, and just when we are about to turn around we found it. Note that this is not a loop trail, but in and back out. We covered about 2/3 of it before turning around (sorry, it was Sunday off the cuff and we had dress shoes, did not pack our hiking shoes/boots). Only one mile, so 2 miles roundtrip! Flat and easy.

I've also been to a couple little league parties for t-ball, pee wee football etc... There is a clean nice block his and hers restroom facility onsite, which is nice. The walking trails are well maintained and easily maneuvered. This park is considerably smaller than Joe Tucker (which we frequent) and the immense Veteran's park in Alabaster. However if your little one needs to burn a little energy after school this place will work in a pinch and generally isn't very crowded. The smaller crowds are especially nice if you are attempting to host an event such as a young child's birthday party.
