We took the Classic Adventure which included six ziplines, a 70 foot rappelling wall and the aforementioned boat tour. The guides are fantastic. Very passionate about this little corner of PR. Sure, at first I thought I'd stepped into a 70's era hippie commune, but there is nothing fake about these guys. They do a great job of sizing up the abilities of the people on the tour and putting folks at ease with the equipment and the place. A couple words of warning: When they saw "turn off 111 onto a rural road" they mean rural road. Sure it seems paved, but the hills and turns are quite the challenge. At first it seemed quaint that there was a sign (in English) in the middle of nowhere that said to "beep" horn just prior to a hill. It's hard to describe the sense of "oh sh*t" when we reached the top of the hill and couldn't see the road ahead or behind. Just a rental car balanced on a peak like a twisted Dr. Suess tale. Yikes. On the way out, I was careful to 1) stop and blow the horn at every sign, 2) keep the window down and A/E off to listen for other horns and 3) keep the trans in low gear. Also, the Batey crew is more into the adventure than the reservation thing. Make sure you follow up the email with a phone call.

Helmets and bike locks included, although we used our own helmets. Lastly, in case you show up with your own bike, Leo has a full service tune-up and repair operation as well! Anyone who knows how to bike on a road would enjoy biking through Vicksburg National Military Park on these bikes. The ride is fantastic and not at all challenging except for a few hills where you can walk your bike up. Car traffic is limited to 25mph and is one-way, so the road is very friendly even for beginning bikers. This is a perfect Saturday outing down from Jackson or up from Natchez. At $40/day, it is an absolute bargain for anyone used to large metropolitan area rates. We happen to be on a cross-country tour from the West Coast and appreciated the chance to burn a few calories so we can keep eating our way to Toronto!

This last time I left my bike with him it took over a year to find out that he couldn't fix it as he promised. He didn't call me to inform me that he wasn't going to be able to repair it, and I had to spend several weeks tracking him down, through his answering service in New York City, as to where he was... His wife called yesterday to tell me I could pick it up at their business, after he promised to bring it himself and I waited for it all day yesterday. The bike is worth several hundred dollars but I would rather just let him keep it rather than let him get away with this type of unprofessional behavior of not keeping his word.

You must fill out a waiver due to safety concerns with sharp objects, so be careful. Emily was the person who assisted me and she was a gem and very encouraging. I was sweating bullets due to all the running back-and-forth and intensity of the throws. The staff was very accommodating and sweet and I was so happy that I stopped in to try this activity today.

Pretty cool atmosphere with very friendly and personable staff. Brandon, our throwing coach, really helped with detailed instructions to help us stick the axe and the girl who kept a cold one nearby was awesome! (Hate that I didn't get her name!) Along with axe throwing, foosball, cornhole & pool was available to keep you entertained! Great music playing in the background which I must add that was a playlist made up by the girl that I failed to get her name. When I asked about it she said she tried to put a little of everything for everyone! Excellent Idea!! There is even a hole in the floor covered with plexiglass that is an old tunnel with water that they have put fish in!! Great vibe here from the staff to the bathroom signs and even the bathroom faucets that light up when using them! Go check this place out if ever in Vicksburg!

It was a gi class, though a few students were still waiting on their gis, which was totally understandable given the timing. The environment was very beginner-friendly, but even as a black belt I found a lot of value in the instruction. The instructor clearly knows his stuff and does an excellent job teaching fundamentals with meaningful details. His style has a noticeable catch-wrestling influence, which gave the techniques a unique and practical feel that I really appreciated. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students--he kept a watchful eye on everyone, emphasized safety, and offered solid tips throughout class. What really stood out to me was the vibe of the gym. It has an old-school feel, almost like a classic boxing gym. Not one of those high-end, ultra-modern white gyms--but honestly, that's exactly what I like. It felt cozy, laid back, and authentic, like a place where real practitioners want to train. The mats were clean and in good condition, which obviously matters. Everyone there was welcoming and warm, and the class structure was solid: traditional warmups, focused drilling, and quality instruction. I can easily see this school growing as more people discover it. If you're looking for a laid-back, old-school jiu-jitsu environment with thoughtful instruction, this place is definitely worth checking out.
