I'm not an electrician, but I managed two electrical companies when I was in the business recovery profession. First place I called but didn't return my call for 24 hours. Second place was professional and sent someone out who was very nice and agreed with my determination of issue. No charge so far. Feeling good until he gave me estimate totals. No breakdown of parts; labor, tax, etc. LOWEST PRICE was $1890.00! And it would be Tuesday before job could be completed. NO WAR x2! My brother is a retired purchasing manager in high cost Austin, TX. He had the exact same part failure and said the tech took 45 minutes and charged him $500 for parts and $800.00 for labor. Said it was a book rate which is BS. He felt ripped off. Third time was the charm. A friend called an electrician who recommended Pattie Electric in Zephyrhills. I called on Tuesday, and told them I pre emptively ordered a Brushless DC motor, ECM control, 1050 rpm. I spent the day finding a cross reference for my Zhandou Road CCP POS. I took a chance based on specs and the only photo which is attached. Pattie had a rep here an hour after I called. He questioned my analysis but the motor was there and he was also. Let's go! An hour and a half later I had A/C! Total cost was $300.00 for upgraded X-13 motor and $210.00 for service call and install. I saved $1400.00 and did not reward a crook. The Co. I was assigned to, was pushing me to replace whole system,I had just had air handler and coils replaced previous year, but they kept insisting with the age of the unit, it should be replaced. I looked up Carrier Dealers in area and found APEX. Richard the owner himself came out inspected the unit, said that the motherboard (? whatever that is) which is costly was fine, air handler & coils were super, just do compressor, was his suggestion and left, no charge, just recommendation. So based on what home Warranty Co. was going to charge me for Freon, an additional $700, or I could take a pay out of $703 for the compressor and have some other co, put it in. I called APEX, I got Richard on the phone who explained the his company has received the President's Award from Carrier, he couldn't get a compressor for $703, he was sorry he couldn't help me. I thought long and hard, and decided to go with APEX, they cost me a bit more, but the honesty, professionalism, no pressure just a true feeling of wanting to help, made me feel I made the right decision. They we're out the next day installed, tested, even followed up with a text the following day. They not only got a customer for life, they built a trust.

My project was for complete demo and installation of new A/C duct work. The workers were…read moreunqualified for A/C work. They did not understand the scope of the project. The supervisor was not on site and managed the project over the phone. The boots for the eleven drops were not replaced. Air flow is not properly setup among the drops. I feel that I was cheated on materials and the poor level of workmanship on this project. I received a request for payment for the completed project. The supervisor had not been on site except for one time on the first day of a two day project. The estimate for the project was for $6800.00. The value of the materials used and inexperienced workers and lack of supervision should be grounds for a full refund of my deposit of $3400.00 and cancel the remaining balance. I was notified that the project is complete, but the contractor has not notified the county that it is ready to be inspected.

Besides discussing the industry trend toward aluminum coils along with its downside, he advised me of the bad effects of dust on a coil. He discussed how using auto mode, though a convenient feature of a thermostat, can be hard on a coil. Switching modes via auto can reverse the pressures too quickly for the thin coil piping. He also cautioned me to keep my HVAC off during my upcoming tile installation. Very proactive guy.
