Post office thereby bans mail delivery on my property, forever. Nightmare #2. Same small doggie dashes out same front door with no intention of responding to her name until she successfully "marked" every tree and bush from here to the end of the next block. It's what doggies must do, she tries to explain. Nightmare #3. Daily traffic of middle school children religiously tosses candy wrappers and homework (with grades they don't want parents to see) on the sidewalk and in the bushes, or gusts of wind unceremoniously depositing other trash from uncaring passers by. The trash would surreptitiously creep up my lawn into undisclosed locations. Nightmare #4. My grandkids, ages 2 and 4. Happy, playful children, but clueless regarding traffic danger or strangers, dash toward street. We needed some kind of containment. I also needed the ugly, rusting poles that had functioned as the banisters leading to my grand, front porch replaced as well. I am lucky to live in a small but proud, historic district in Corona on a major thoroughfare. I already knew I wanted a wrought iron Victorian vintage fence, not a Home Depot, mass produced fence carcass for me. In my search for design, I discovered a great wrought iron design that ran around the property of the circa 1891 Historic Heritage House in Riverside, a grand old lady, mansion/museum. Not that my circa 1912 home even comes close to looking that classic. But hey, this project was going to be part of the footprint I was leaving for Corona. This fence was the bones for my 2016 front yard makeover. My landscaper, Wayne of Andrew Landscaping, turned over the work to Dave, the owner of Inland Wrought Iron. Dave started by making me a sample panel, pretty close to looking like my ideal on the first go around. A few tweaks and we shook hands, had our plan in place. As for the materials, he used aluminum, a very durable but non-rusting fence material. It is rock solid, not your light weight variety, very sturdy. The custom made frame was then powder coated (my choice of color) for a durable finish. It looks just as captivating as does real wrought iron. The added bonus is, I will not need to paint my fence every two years like the iron fence varieties. In fact, I should *never* have to paint it again. I say, "Amen brother!" As for my wiggly, adventure-seeking, pant tugging canine, she has already tried to make a dash for it several times, only to skid to a disappointed halt. The mail box is now strategically placed outside the fence so the postal worker can whistle a happy tune. The grandkids are halted from innocent wanderings. The trash mostly continues its journey down the street, the wind doing its part to help. The banisters are superb, sturdy beyond words, and quite attractive. Beautiful craftsmanship, perfect styling for the house, and low-to-no maintenance. Dave has been very easy to work with. And while the job was extensive and expensive, and took much longer than I, the unknowing, anticipated, the end result was a true vision. Thank you Dave.
