My back pain has improved by 95%! I was able to eliminate the mega-doses of Tylenol I was taking for pain. I've also been working with Robert on incorporating some herbal remedies to help with my asthma and hay fever. I've been able to reduce the usage of a cortico-steroid inhaler I take for asthma, and have reduced the dosage of some other medications I use for my upper respiratory allergies. From a woman's perspective, I have always found Robert's demeanor to be respectful, gentle, and professional at all times. I feel very comfortable with him. He listens when I describe my symptoms and is never dismissive. When I had a setback early on in my treatment, I could tell he was frustrated, but it wasn't directed at me. I think he was more frustrated that the treatment itself wasn't working in that particular instance. We talked about it, and agreed to incorporate moxa into the treatment. It's been very successful. My recovery has been of the "2 steps forward/1 step back" variety, but overall I've been very pleased with my progress. I'm so grateful to Robert for helping me resolve my long-term chronic back pain!

Additionally, instead of getting consent for this, he says, "And now I'll unhook your bra..." This is just creepy, for lack of a better word. As for communication difficulties, he was arrogant and rude to me when I told him his professional recommendations are not compatible with my lifestyle - I was interested in working out some type of alternative treatment plan, but instead he became defensive, rude, and acted as if I didn't care about my own health. His bedside manner is horrific, and he appears so arrogant that it took me aback. I am a paying customer, and his actions (and even his words in his new patient documents) show that he truly believes his time is more valuable and more important than his clients' time. Very, very, very disappointed. This is the worst experience I've had with a medical "professional." I originally came to him for help with my back pain because of his glowing reviews. My back pain did not improve, and I later found out through a friend who saw him for a brief period of time that he practically harasses his clients to write Yelp reviews for this practice. Such bad practice, but at least I understand where all of these positive reviews are coming from. Who wants to write a bad review for someone who is sticking needles in their body? Do not go here. RUN the other way.

I was provided the acupuncture service without any talk about what it will entail, no questions around my state... a very minimal conversation. He also tried to sell some herbs which I declined. The worst part was about the payment. He told me that he does not work with my insurance after the service was provided. I would have expected to be told that in the first place. I had to pay in full and given a very basic receipt. I went back a couple of days later to ask for an itemized invoice so that I can submit an out of network claim with my insurance. My health anxiety means that I think any weird symptoms or bodily sensations that I have are signs of some awful thing. It also makes me skeptical of both traditional and alternative medicine. So it's difficult to say 'Acupuncture is amazing' or why that's so, but the fact is my body seems to be super responsive to it. Very simply, it's taught me to experience/endure strange sensations with less anxiety. Super valuable for anyone with health anxiety!! I often feel woozy and sleepy afterward, somewhat emotionally depleted the next day, then really good the day after that. For me the mental/emotional effects have been cumulative. Physical effects can be almost instant, which is super weird. If I tell Gillian I have foot pain, GI issues, etc, after one or two treatments focusing on that thing, it will feel much better. As others have said, she's thorough and considerate with a great warm presence. I'm not sure how this stuff works but it's ancient! I recommend trying out acupuncture w her as part of your self-care/health program.
