But for a cohesive four-course menu, it might have been nice to have something else. There's more to Finnish food than salmon soup. Another thing: bread was a bit weird. The portions were small and they seemed to compensate with the biggest pieces of bread I've ever seen, which looked more like American white bread than like anything Finnish. We thought the pizzas were tasty though they left us hungry. The patio furniture were very nice and original - or at least I haven't seen similar tables and chairs elsewhere. The views of course were great too since the place is next to the Aura river. For some reason, there were some seriously annoying bees flying around everywhere that day and they just would not leave our pizzas alone. It was really infuriating. This of course was not the fault of the restaurant but definitely lowered our enthusiasm although we otherwise enjoyed our visit. Pub Niska (niska = neck) is a pub that's famous for the pizzas. I don't know how famous it is for good beer etc. Most people seemed to be drinking beer - probably Lapin Kulta or Karhu. I can only imagine how popular the patio is during the summer as even in September it was nearly packed by the time we left. I'd come again for the views and to chill with a drink.

Probably because of reflective ceiling panels. And half of the restaurant walls are sound-reflecting windows. But, the servers seem very attentive and quick. The chefs, in their t-shirts, baseball caps and aprons, are quite visible, working in the partially open kitchen, and assisting the servers with plate présentation. The chefs spent a lot of time in front of us, perfecting each dish with tweezers. Because, about a third of the presentations had a very meticulous, but specifically geometric, plating. Such as perfect circles of 40 circles, or teardrops, or ellipses. Personally, I encourage each Chef to execute and present their individual vision. But, maybe limit the number of plates that appear to be assembled with a protractor and compass. The scallop, cucumber and buttermilk dish was excellent, as was the 64th version (so far) of their signature "Fish Circle," of crab, whitefish, apple and beurre blanc.
