Since their technician was already on the island, I called and asked if he could stop by my property before leaving to give me a quote. Later that day, after my neighbor's closing was finished, he called and told me he was already in Alexandria Bay but would come back to look at my property. I wasn't home, so I gave him the location and permission to walk around the property and provide me with a quote. After our call, I watched my security camera for approximately 30 minutes, and no one ever came to my property. No recording of anyone on the property I have 3 cameras! When I later called him directly and asked whether he had been there, he told me that he had. I knew that was not the case because I had been monitoring my cameras. He then told me the office would send me a quote. I never received a quote. What I did receive was a $68 invoice. When I called Hazelwood and explained that no one had come to my property and no quote had ever been provided, I was told that receiving a quote constitutes a service. I again explained that I had never received the quote--or the visit. I was never told that there would be a fee for a quote, which is ridiculous. I would've never agreed to that . When I said I would not pay for a service I did not receive, I was told they would never work for me in the future. After 30 years in business myself, I find this response very disappointing. Mistakes and misunderstandings can happen, but good customer service is about how a company handles them. Charging a prospective customer for a visit that, according to my security cameras, never occurred--and then responding this way when questioned--is simply bad business in my opinion.

The employees are always prompt in arriving and are courteous and willing to explain what and why they did what they did. Jim senior ran a great business and shaped the business into what it is today. We have never questioned the bill and always felt that we were getting our money's worth. It is comforting to know that the people you hire are honest and trustworthy. Today I had an appointment to check my furnace. We noticed the house was getting cool and the furnace did not turn on. We had a lot of company for Easter and I believe my grandson probably turned the furnace switch off accidentally. The service man was at the house for about five minutes. I do understand that people do have to get paid for their time but my house is ten minutes from Henderson and the bill was more than eighty dollars ($80.00). That does seem excessive but I learned a lesson and will mark the switch better so it doesn't happen again. I will also ask how much they normally charge for a service call and how much they get paid per hour. I have faith in this business and recommend them very highly but will ask for an estimate before work begins. In my opinion you will not find a better contractor in the area.

The 1st time they came, they fixed the problem and guaranteed me that they world came back if the furnace stated to act up again. While they were fixing my furnace, they seemed more concerned about getting home as soon as possible and chipped my kitchen counter in the rush. I was not impressed, but was happy to have heat again. 5 days later, the furnace stopped working again. When Jim's came back I asked if he was going to charge me for this visit and was told no. The technetium told me there was water in the tank and all I needed was a bottle of HOT. I went out and bought the oil treatment and put it in my tank and now everything is working fine. A week later I received a bill. I had no problem with the bill and paid it. A few days after that, I got another bill for the second visit. I was being charged twice for the same job. When I called Jim's, they told me I was being charged for two different situations. I had the same problem, 5 days apart, and was guaranteed that they would come back if the problem continued. They refuse to lower the charges, and I have dropped them as my plumbing, heating, and electrical guys. I also want to add that while they worked on my furnace, they kept trying to scare me into upgrading. They told me that my tank was installed wrong, my fuel filter is in the wrong place, and told me that I better have it fixed soon before something breaks and all my fuel ends up on the ground. I have since then had another heating company come over and tell me otherwise. I don't like and don't trust these people, and wouldn't recommend them to anybody.

I had absolutely no idea our unit wasn't purchased from his business, but on the "marketplace". I don't know what that is. I never once went to his home and picked up the unit. I signed a contract, we had a date for the install, he came on the date - bringing the unit with him, and installed it. We shut it down for the winter and when we started it back up the following spring, it would only blow out warm air. Jim did come down to our home in June of that year with a temporary fix. He had to order a part , said it would be in quickly, and would be back to fix it. We never heard back so I messaged him several times. I was told he was working on a huge job and couldn't get to it just then. I waited a while and messaged him again. I was then told his family had suffered the devastating effects from the hurricane last year and he was helping them. I still have the messages I replied to him with stating my concern for them and to take care of his family. This spring rolls along and I messaged and called him with no reply. It wasn't until I placed this negative review on yelp that he finally came and fixed it. At no cost. Of course it's at no cost. He told us last year it was covered under warranty. Would not recommend.

They arrived exactly when they said they would, they found the leak, trouble shot the issue and came up with a better solution than going under my porch. They fixed the problem (as far as I can tell from above ground), were extremely professional, left the site tidy, graded and seeded. A few days later a sink hole was created where the original septic pipes were (that they didn't want to drive over) and I asked if they could just deliver some extra dirt as they were working nearby. I left for 3 hours, came back and the hole was filled, graded and reseeded. Unbelievable service!! I would highly recommend them!!
