I have gone twice to have my vehicle worked on. they do great work and I will continue using them.

Have both positive and negative feedback. Will start with the good: were able to diagnose truck same-day (pretty rare in Midland), repairs were completed in a timely fashion (once they had the parts), truck is running great, and they were very friendly (even gave me a ride when I dropped truck off). On the negative side: said they'd do a free oil change/tire rotation and didn't (prob because it was never on the ticket as it was no charge and forgot), seemed to be limited time spent after day 1 into finding the part I needed (actually found it myself and shipped it to them after waiting a few weeks with no progress), and replaced my battery without asking (was at 50k miles and likely needed it, but was a $500 surprise same day as pickup). All in all, I was in a bind and these guys got me answers quickly. Nice people and do good work, but think they need more staff or need to put more time into customer communication and part acquisition. read more

I had 2 vehicles with lifter problems and he recommended and engine switch out and they both lasted around 2 years and of course the warranty was over by then, I don't know where this guy got these engines but they did not last plus when the engines would have issues he would act like a butt whenever I questioned him, I definitely not recommend him for his attitude and business connections with some junk yard where he gets these used engines. I should have just bought another vehicle instead of going to this guy, so if he tells you, it's easier to replace you motor just tell him no as they kept my old engines and who know they might have fixed them and sold them, I don't trust this guy. read more

Awesome guys. Honest. Helpful. Great customer service. Fast. And, reasonable. The tension pulls on my 2013 F350 froze up, causing my serpentine belt to break. The came and picked up my truck and had it fixed the next day, for half of what the Ford house wanted - and that included the towing. Next day service in the Permian Basin is unheard of these days. I was thoroughly pleased. I understand they have been in business for over 35 years. It's easy to see why. I highly recommend them. read more

Amazing. Absolutely courteous and very professional. I am from Florida and driving with my son from California To Austin. Car just broke down in Midland. Called several places and no one had the time. Called Erby at E&R Automotive and he got us in right away. Explained the details of major repairs and fixed our car in just a few hours and got us on our way...that included going to pick up parts somewhere else. Pretty fair prices. We were driving from Denton to Las Cruces to a wedding when the clutch in our car broke. The first two places we called said that they wouldn't even be able to look at our car for over a week. E&R not only looked at our car immediately, they also had someone repair it over the weekend. We were able to rent a car, make it to the wedding, and then pick up our car on the way back to Denton on Monday. We don't know what we would have done if E&R hadn't moved things around to fit us in. And we felt confident about leaving our car in their hands because, from the state of their shop and the demeanor of everyone who works there, they obviously care a lot about the cars they work on and the customers who bring their vehicles to their shop. They really came through in the 'clutch'. If we lived in Midland they would become our go-to mechanics. read more

Moved to Midland for school and I had some emergency car issues so I looked up the first place I could find and went there. Of course, I saw the reviews and had my doubts so I came in with a very cautious mentality. I told him I was a student and was direct with him about not ripping me off. The mechanics went above and beyond when they were looking at my car and was very informative when I asked questions about it. At the end, we negotiated a good price for the maintenance. I crossed checked prices with other automotives here and most of them fall within the same price range. Honestly, I think it's just like with anyone, when you come off as a douche, people will reciprocate it. Owner's a genuinely decent guy if you get the chance to talk to him, but keep in mind though that he has a business to run too. I will be taking my car here for any future problems. read more

So I had a brake leak that my previous mechanic probably caused by breaking an already failing part. This mechanic pointed it out and did a reasonable job fixing it at a reasonable price. The only issue was that the ETA on my car kept getting pushed back but I guess that's more of a Midland problem (due to a shortage of mechanics or pretty much any service provider.) I'd rather have it done right than done fast and this guy had fixed my car the right way, albeit longer than expected. read more

I decided to take my car (one of several I own of the same model) to E & R Automotive repair shop based on the number of good Yelp reviews. In the end, I believe it to be a big mistake. I had two issues: One- for the automatic clutch between the engine and transmission and two- an inoperative A/C. I replaced my own A/C compressor after the clutch broke and I've done A/C compressors before, it's not that hard. However; this time the car would not cool after installing the new compressor. So I took it in and talked with Erby (owner) about an estimate and what he believed might be the problem. I first asked if he worked on my vehicle type, he said he did. I then asked if he worked on my vehicle's type of motor and he said they have worked on them before. He asked to see my old compressor to make sure it didn't contaminate the system with debris from the failure. I had it with me. He looked at it and said it looked clean and I was lucky. We agreed for him to keep the car for an estimate. He spent 24 hours and called me back with an estimate, parts, and time-frame of a couple of days. The quoted prices for the work seemed a little high to me. I was willing to do the A/C only because sometimes things can be hard to get to and it takes time, and the clutch quote was almost the value of the car so I nixed the clutch work. Fast foward a week later and I get a call from Erby stating he repaired the A/C but it was intermittent because the compressor was overheating due to the inefficiency of the electric fans. He stated he could order new fans aftermarket and get them in the following day. I told Erby that I had brand new fans (from an issue on one of my other cars) and I would bring by for his guys to install. When I brought the fans in an hour later, I was shown the current bill. The shop wanted to charge me half more of the A/C bill to replace the electric fans. The quote said it would take 3.5 hours of labor to change these fans. When I paid the repair bill, it was already more than the quote by several hundred dollars. I know shop supplies are marked up and there is a charge for tool use, but to inflate the price of R134A refrigerant by 350% is simply a ripoff. To add parts not discussed and then bill extra is not a good practice. To charge me an additional $25 fee because I used a debit card is really an horrible practice. I already guessed the fan replacement hours were inflated as I have replaced these fans before. Four screws and one plug. It took me less than 45 minutes to do it myself and I have minimal tools. After installing the fans, the A/C still failed to cool - same problem I had when I took my car in. I returned the car the next day for a service tech to accompany me and see why the shop stated it was cooling yet it was not. I was told the schedule was booked for at least two weeks and the owner would call me later that afternoon to discuss my issues. No call back. Other than my receipt, I have no proof anything was done. Bad parts were not shown to me or described as replaced. E & R Automotive will tell you one thing and do something else. E & R Automotive does not have good business practices. E & R Automotive does not have customer satisfaction. E & R Automotive will not call you back as indicated in their own time-frame. E & R Automotive laced my quote with hidden charges and fees that were not discussed prior, nor posted in any form within the business. E & R was not knowledgeable of the problem and threw expensive parts at the issue (at my cost) in hopes something would fix it rather than know how to determine the problem and fix only that. E & R Automotive 30 day parts and labor warranty is not worth the purple paper they print it upon. Bottom line, E & R Automotive is not an ethical business. Don't fall for his response to this. Save your money, time, and resources. Go somewhere else. read more

I was referred by a friend that told me E&R was honest and reasonable so I called and they could get to it that day. I took my Honda to E&R when I began getting transmission problem notices. I left my car with them around noon and they were done by 5. They gave me the truth which doesn't always happen with repair shops. They cleaned the contacts and and charged a very reasonable price. I took my car in for an AC job and I had told him that I had noticed a leak so he was going to fix that. I get a call back two days later saying that my car it's blowing freezing cold air I pick it up everything seems to be working properly and no issues. within an hour my AC had kicked off and will not turn back on. I called back the next day to let them know and they advised me to go back the next day when I take it back The mechanic that had worked on it asked me what was wrong again and I told him it just kicked off out of nowhere and he's like oh yeah I noticed that but I thought that it wasn't an issue, so they have sent me home knowing there was a further issue with my AC and didn't think of touching it to see where the issue was to fix it even though that was the main purpose of taking the car in to fix an AC but since it wasn't part of the leak and it wasn't the area where he was working on he didn't think it was important to let me know that there was a further issue to fix causing further problems around my schedule being a full-time student and working. horrible service on his part not letting the customer know that he noticed an issue and not fixing it or advising me about it to get it fixed They told me they would fix it but they would charge me extra labor on top of the 900 that I had already paid plus $500 in parts. So I would have to re-purchase parts for the new issue and pay more in labor than what I already did Major inconvenience, waste of time, and theft of money taking it to them. Will not recommend at all. Owner called and threatened me to remove my post or he would void my warranty for work done on the car Very rude and unprofessional Denies all claims that mechanic noticed an issue before pick up Have voice recording of him threatening me during the call Stating he has long time customers and that my review will not affect him or his business but called to threaten me Will never return to the liars and thieves read more

Worst service charged me to put in my transmission and said they test drove it. I don't see how when the screwed up my motor and couldn't get it to start. Never put in the speedometer gear the first time which I think you would have noticed it not working on the so called "test drive" they did. Charged me to fix my motor that they messed up on and put in my speedometer gear which just went out a day after that they had "fixed" it. Worst service a bunch of crooks. Also my exhaust still has an exhaust leak after they charged me and never ask to work on it. Will be reporting to the better business bureau as well. read more

I have had the pleasure of having my vehicles repaired here , The owner is very nice & knowledgeable & honest I have done business with them for about 10 years so this review is overdue , They always give you a quote and will call you if they find other problems .I tried fly by night mechanics and nobody ever got it right ! But when I go too E&R they work with me until it is right and I am satisfied , He is not the cheapest in town you get what you pay for certified mechanics , honesty and a safe vehicle too drive I finally made my mind up too always do business with Erby the owner and his staff , Too me he is the best and cleanest honest mechanic in town ! You can get it cheaper and faster but not necessarily right so Ladies if you want an honest mechanic that will take the time too explain what is wrong with vehicle this is the man you need too see I will not do business any where else great shop good honest people and fast if need be !
