After moving, this is now the closest hardware store to my house, and I couldn't be happier. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. They have just about everything the big stores have, but in a more compacted, easier to find fashion. Every month they have their special buys which can end up quite the steal, like a broom and dustpan for $3 or a pair of sawhorses for $20. Another big positive is the aisle of various screws, nuts, and bolts. Unlike many store where you have to buy a big box of nuts, I was able to buy only two replacement nuts for my weedwacker. This is a great hardware store, and will continue to be the one I frequent the most. read more

Now this is what a local hardware store should be, Period! Reminds me of years past, walk in the door and you are greeted by a person that can actually help you. They have a nice selection of almost anything you need to do repairs or add something special to your home. Great lawn care area with name brands, I really like their BBQ Area many grilles ,smokers accessories etc... to chose from. They have a ton of great nick knacks that you can browse through also ,pretty cool place. In the spring and summer they sell live plants also and some cool outdoor furniture. I dread going to Lowes or Home Depot to find something but love coming here to buy , the help you get is outstanding !! Give it a try !! read more

In the age of big box warehouse stores and huge national brands, there is a reason small hardware stores like Ace remain healthy in towns like Independence. Beyond the convenience of just driving a few miles to the store (I live in Seven Hills) I have a lot of confidence that I will be able to talk to a person within seconds of stepping into the store if I need to, that that person will have all the time I need to answer questions or find specific items, and that that person will know what they are talking about. Smaller hardware stores may cost a little more than Lowes or Home Depot; they may not have 50 options for a grill or even a replacement electrical outlet; they may not carry everything I could possibly ever need. The big box stores are there for a reason... ...but so are the little stores. I appreciate that this store, and stores like it, because they represent something those big stores can't - they are neighborhood stores; they are more friendly, more intimate, and feel more like "my" hardware store. I'll sacrifice a dollar here or there, tolerate the lack of a dizzying array of options, and forego the massive holiday sales flyers and big crowds for that feeling. read more

Went in here to buy a Portable PropaneFire Pit. The price on the shelf said 42.00 American dollars. I eggcitedly brought my treasure to the checkout and plopped it on the counter. Imagine my dismay when the crotchety old lady with the Ace Hardware red vest told me "That's not the correct price, it sells for 100 dollars.". I told her about the price stated on the shelf and happily escorted her to see it for herself. She responded by scratching and clawing at the sticker in an unsuccessful attempt to remove it from the shelf. I tried explaining it was bad business to have one price on the shelf and a higher one at the time of purchase. She didn't seem to care and when I asked if she was going to do the right thing and sell me the item at the stated price on the shelf she gave me a look of disdain and flatly answered "I'm not letting it go for that". I'll stick with Lowe's and HomeDepot Now I am left to wonder what she would have let it go for. read more

There's one employee there that if I see her at the register when I walk in, I turn around and walk out. I cannot remember her name for the life of me, but she's an older lady with reddish hair. She's been nothing but extremely rude and downright nasty to me. Everybody else there has been great, though, which is what keeps me coming back. read more

The Ace Hardware in Independence, Ohio is an old style hardware store of 40 years ago. The store has a lot of tools and hardware but nowhere near what you would find in an average Home Depot. The staff members are older and experienced. The prices, while definitely not cheap, are reasonable. If you live nearby and need a few things I recommend Ace Hardware. read more

Great service and they go the extra mile and they are knowledgeable and so helpful! I recently bought a lawn mower there after looking at Sears, Lowe's and Home Depot. Ace can order Craftsmen lawn mowers if they don't have a specific model on sight, and their regular price was better than Sears sale price! It took 3 days to get it in, and when I ordered I just asked if they could help me know basics on starting it and maintaining it. When I picked it up they spent about 10 minutes telling me all I needed to know about it. They assembled it for me before I got there and loaded it into my car for me. When I got home all I had to do was add gas and oil and I was ready to go. I didn't realize until I was home and reading directions that it actually came in a box and it was the great guys at Ace that had totally assembled it for me!
