    Classic döner
    Pareasa S.

I was very much satisfied with this place when I went. It was my first time having döner and the experience was great. There is a seating area outside and it's under a tent, so there wasn't any snow or water covering up tables and chairs. There is also a bar inside that you can stand and eat at. If you're sensitive to the cold. I happily ate outside, though. The food kept me warm enough. The people who work there are great. They're nice and talkative. It wasn't busy at all when I went, so we had a chance to chit chat during the ordering process. My experience was excellent. I thought the food was delicious, but my cousins who have had döner before thought it was mediocre. They said they've had better döner in Germany in the past, but I can't really speak on their experience. I had the opportunity to try döner from another top rated place in the city of Berlin and I must say, I would still consider my experience here to be satisfactory. And not just limited to the taste of the food, but my overall experience was great. It's a nice intimate setting that was close to where I'm staying with delicious food and it's incredibly cheap. If I'm not mistaken my döner was only about 2.5 or 3 euros. I absolutely can not complain about this place.

Best chicken döner in Friedrichshain. The döner is stuffed with vegetables, feta and a lot of meat.

The chicken doner Mit brot was delicious-- great flavored. Order it "mit alles" to get all of the wonderful toppings. And only 3.5 euros!

I ordered the chicken döner with everything so it came with lots of veggies (both fresh and those that were grilled).

I am not quite sure what the difference between homey Turkish food and what is not. I am going to…read moreassume homey entails more focus on the food and ingredients rather than the presentation and other things. One glance at this place and it certainly looks homey if not rather like a one pot, buffet, fast food kind of style. There was counter full of prepared food in the back and you can pick and choose your meal from thy selection. No there's nothing created here a la minute but the price kind of reflects that. While I can't comment on the authenticity of the food, I can say without a doubt it is tasty...for the most part. Everything does indeed taste "homey" as every dish is sort of a mis-mash of different vegetables and meats in a consistent sauce. By that I mean most of the dishes have similar sauces a tastes quite similar despite it having different ingredients. The rice is a nicely prepared with fantastic texture and just the right amount of squeakiness to them all the while still soft and pillowy. The chicken is sightly dry but very nicely compensated with the great sauce that it's bathed in. Sadly this meal wasn't quite as memorable as I had hope for. Unlike the Turkish cuisines I have had in the past there wasn't one or more dishes I would recommend of you must order. Everything tastes good -- like a every day good kind of meal mom used to prepare.

Finish with some tea.

But each…read moretime we got a little more and more grossed out by the way the guy would have a smoke, handle money, then handle food, with no hand washing in between. We tried not to be so germ-a-phobic about this but then when we all got a really bad stomach bug after eating here and our daughter ended up in hospital (to be fair, it may not have been Oase that caused it but it is one of two possibilities) we just stopped going here altogether. UPDATE: We have tried almost every place nearby with good reviews and none have been as good as Oase. We decided to give them another chance and have noticed that they wash their hands before handling the food now.

You are hungry as a bricklayer at the end of a long shift. This is the situation I found myself in - at 2am, knowing nothing about locating edible stuff in Berlin at this time of night. Across the street was an all night kiosk, but the thought of eating candy or biscuits just didn't do it for me. And then it miraculously happened - around the corner came a beautiful girl, clearly enjoying her kebab. Sauce on her cheeks, happiness in her eyes, and oblivious to her surroundings. And I knew. I turned the corner and moved like a lion smelling meat - and found an oasis, named Oase. Full of people it was, full of choices and offering friendly and fast service. Mouthwatering I navigated through the questionnaire that eventually resulted in a great Kebab that I devoured while enjoying the lively place. Everything homemade, everything hot or cold as it should be. One of the tricks to make a good kebab is to alternate between content, e.g. a little salad, then a little meat, then a few tomatoes, then a little sauce, then salad again, then meat, etc. until it is full. That way, the taste is the same throughout the eating experience. Trick of the trade, but not everybody knows. Yes, you say, but you were hungry and drunk, so what good is that for a review? I agree. But I went back in the bright daylight and tasted another one, and it was just as awesome as the one I had the night before. Awesome luck for me, awesome food from Oase.

The falafels were fried to order, which I appreciate. After the falafels were ready, the gentleman working put them in a wrap and then went to the bar of vegetables and toppings in front of me. He added hummus, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, and I think a spicy mustard. After he finished stuffing the wrap, he rolled it up and placed it on a grill press for a few minutes. My falafel wrap was delicious and full of flavors and textures! Starting with crunchy! It had a big crunch from the grilled wrap. Then I got the added crunch from the falafel. It was then followed by the smooth and savory hummus. The vegetables were a perfect addition. Extra: Vegan options Open late - 3 am!
