Sunday is a great day to avoid your own kitchen. We were walking the kiez, contemplating food…read moreplans, when we realized we were near Rebel Room. And hungry. Even though the ample seating for the little stand is mostly outdoors and Berlin's May weather is being quite rainy, they offer an excellent enclosure to stay dry. In addition, the staff was drying off tables between showers. There are a variety of tasty burgers from 4-6 euro to choose from which you can make into a meal (drink & fries) for an additional 2.50. We opted for a burger each plus an order of curly fries (oddly called twisted) and onion rings. Everything came out exceptionally tasty - great buns- but the onion rings were a disappointment with 6 sad rings on a platter for 2.50. Maybe a different presentation would make them look less pathetic. The timing was also far too long as it took about 25 minutes after we ordered to get our food on a quiet Sunday. Boo y'all! No one goes for a "quick" 30 minute burger. But overall, we were in no hurry and our bellies got full for about 15 euro. Just a short walk from our house, I'm sure our paths will cross again.

This one man show had such unique quirks. Mixtape's menu was rap themed. The burger combos were songs from classic rap songs. West coast burgers were 100% beef. East coast burgers are 90% beef and 10% lamb. Burgers are served on a toasted sesame bagel. The food is served on a granite slab. Condiments are Costco-sized on a metal trolley and you get your own. One guy runs the show- he is the cashier, cook. You self serve and bus your plate after. Be prepared to wait. Remember, one guy is doing everything! I loved my burger with the crunchy bacon and fried egg. Everyone enjoyed their burger as well. The only thing I didn't love was that the burger was cooked well done. I wasn't really given a choice for medium or medium rare. Other than that, it was a great inexpensive place for dinner.

The food was great and the atmosphere was fun. I love the burger names of east coast rap songs versus west cost rap songs. Keep in mind Germany will cook beef to well done and not really give you the option otherwise. I had the Oh La La La - Cheese and Mushroom Burger, it was super juicy, definitely of the better burger category. This location was a little understaffed though, the same guy who took the order had to cook all of it.

They don't sell liquor, but you can buy beers next door and bring them over and the burger joint will return the glasses for you. Just make sure you speak German at the bar, cause they don't speak English. This place was recommended by a local punk rocker my Swiss friend knows. I had high hopes, and the burgers were fresh enough and large enough. But as soon as you get done eating you feel greasy and gross inside. I don't know. Maybe it hits the spot after a night of drinking before you go home. It certainly had enough local business. I didn't think much of it, nor did anyone I took with me. I'd say don't waste your time.
