hired Dynamic Pro Painting to paint the exterior of my home. Unfortunately, my overall experience did not meet my expectations.
The main issue involved the final paint color. I provided a project rendering that clearly showed the color and overall appearance I expected. However, the actual color applied to my home was dramatically different from the rendering I provided. In my opinion, the difference was significant enough that an experienced professional painter should have recognized that something was wrong and stopped to verify the color with me. I was also not given an opportunity to review and approve an actual paint sample before the job began.
Once the color was applied to my house, I immediately expressed concern that it did not match my expectations. I was assured by Dynamic Pro Painting that it was the correct SW 2055 color and that it would become darker after the second coat was applied. Based on that professional assurance, the work continued. Unfortunately, even after the second coat, the final color remained dramatically different from the project rendering.
I later learned that SW 2055 Outback Brown is an older Sherwin-Williams color that is no longer part of the company's current color collection, and online color references can display noticeably different representations of the same color.
My strongest concern is that a customer should be given the opportunity to review and approve the actual paint color before a major painting project begins. At a minimum, once I objected to the color after seeing it on my house, I believe the work should have been paused so the color could be verified and corrected.
After several tense discussions, the contractor pointed to the HOA color documentation as the source of the issue and suggested that I pursue the matter with my HOA to see if they would cover the repainting cost. Ultimately, the contractor proposed a repainting cost that amounted to nearly 30% of the original project price. Given the circumstances and the fact that I raised my concern during the painting process, I did not feel this was a satisfactory resolution.
I am sharing my experience so other homeowners know the importance of insisting on seeing and approving an actual paint sample before the full job begins. read more
