During the COVID lockdown, walking the trails became my favorite pastime. Especially as a pregnant woman looking for peace and fresh air, lol. Years later, those same trails are still a favorite activity for my son and me. More recently, I've taken up disc golf and was excited to find out the group I joined regularly plays at the Okeeheelee course. It's been such a fun and engaging experience! Just yesterday, I attended a picnic at one of the park's pavilions, and it was wonderful. The swings and playground next to the pavilion made it perfect for a family-friendly event. The space provided plenty of seating and shade, so everyone could enjoy themselves without being overwhelmed by the heat. There's still so much of this park I haven't explored yet, and I genuinely look forward to continuing to visit for years to come.

After brunching at PGA Commons I was looking for a park to exercise in and found this one along…read moreLake Catherine, located on the east side MacArthur Boulevard just north of Northlake Boulevard. The park is surrounded by the Lake Catherine neighborhood. Parking is on the street alongside the park. Lake Catherine Park has a very nice half mile red earth trail that runs alongside the lake. There are beautiful shade trees along the trail. The park has a restroom but it was closed. Fishing is allowed in the lake and there is boat ramp to provide access to the water. I saw several other people exercising and a family having their New Year picnic. My favorite part of the park was the birds it attracted. I saw a lot of ducks, ibis, an anhinga, and a limpkin. Further up the street on the opposite side of the park is the Lake Catherine Sportsplex that contains athletic fields, grills, a restroom, picnic pavilions, and a playground. This is a great park for people of all ages to picnic, play, exercise, and enjoy the start of the new year.

Marcus Sandhill Crane Access Park. Commissioner Marcus championed environmental preservation during her nearly three decades in office. The trail allows hikers, equestrian riders, and bikers to travel the North Everglades Natural Area. To Riverbend Park in Jupiter. In November 2012 the 1.5 acre Sandhill Crane Access Park was renamed Karen T. Marcus Sandhill Crane Access Park to honor commissioner Karen Marcus. Marcus was first elected to the Palm Beach commission in 1984. The park was named in her honor because the commission felt he helped control the development in northern Palm Beach to keep it from becoming overcrowded. In addition to the trail, the park has restrooms, an observation deck, fishing pier, picnic tables and a boat launch onto the C-18 Canal. Sadly I did not see any of my beloved sandhill cranes this trip although there were other birds willing to show off. Whether you are horse back riding, hiking, boating, or just stopping to enjoy nature, this park will allow you to access the best that Florida's Mother Nature has to offer.

Mirasol is the Spanish word for sunflower. One of the most beloved amenities in Mirasol is Mirasol Park. This community park offers basketball courts, a softball field, multipurpose field, playground, pavilions which can be reserved, and outdoor fitness equipment. Mirasol Park is very family friendly. People come here to host birthday parties, family gatherings, and cookouts. It's a great venue for sports, exercise, play, or a laid-back weekend afternoon with friends and family. I especially love the peaceful natural setting that attracts local wildlife like this adorable little bunny I found.

This park is big!…read more In the front is the fire department and a lot of boat trailer parking, with 2 or 3 loading docks for boats,etc.. In the middle is the (wonderful!) Loxahatchee River Center. I had never been farther than here, until recently. It is worth checking out! Behind the Center is a large parking lot with several secluded spots with picnic tables that sit along the River, a large covered pavilion that is rentable, a lot of what looks like horseshoe tossing stations, a volleyball court (without a net), a sweet little playground, and nice public bathrooms. The playground here is great - rarely busy, it has just enough different elements to keep it fun, plus swings. It is shady, with a lovely waterfront breeze, and benches for adults to sit on. While it is not fenced in, it is connected to a picnic area and generally feels pretty secluded. When the playground gets old, my kids and I walked towards the public docks. There is a paddleboard renting structure there, where you can rent one by using a credit card, but the lifejackets are pretty sun-worn-out. Really cool concept though! My kids like to walk out on the docks and check out the boats that frequent this area. There is also a kayak entrance where they can get their feet wet next to the mangroves. After hitting up this area and back in my car, I finally drove the loop behind the Center. It is all waterfront, with little covered picnic spots and river access for those with kayaks or canoes. What perfect spots for a gathering or hangout. These are almost hidden, as the road loops one way and parking is all in the grass.

The park was named for Burt who was a lifelong resident of the area. The 35.55 acre park that bears his name spans both sides of US Highway 1. The main attraction of the park is the Loxahatchee River Center which has aquariums and interactive exhibits. Unfortunately it was closed on our visit. There is also a nature area out back. If you are a boater or fisherman you can do both recreational activities here. There are boat ramps and canoe and kayak launches. 2,000 feet ofthe park is on the intracoastal. There is also a playground, sand volleyball court, picnic pavilion, picnic tables, grills, and a restroom. I think that it is really nice that Jupiter decided to honor Burt by naming a park for him. He gave a lot back to his community and although he is no longer with us his presence still looms large in the town that he loved.

I live right behind this trail, walking distance from my apartment (a rarity in this part of WPB) so I care about it quite a bit. There are certainly plenty of improvements that could be made. If you're not walking the Owahee canal trails on the outskirts, and trying to walk the actual Apoxee trail, it's almost always too flooded by rainfall to make it very far. There has been word of more elevated boardwalks for the trail, but no progress has been visible for a while. Still a great place for a nature hike in WPB.

This is a very nice neighborhood park in the 1.546 single family home neighborhood of LaMancha in…read moreRoyal Palm Beach. LaMancha was built in 1978 and expanded upon through the years. This park was named in honor of former Royal Palm Beach resident, Todd Andrew Robiner who was a football player for Palm Beach Lakes High School, a basketball star, and a championship wrestler. While attending Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois on a full scholarship it was discovered during a routine physical exam that something was wrong. It was later diagnosed as cancer and Todd passed away from the disease at the age of 21 on August 20. 1994. There is a plaque with his name at the entrance to the park. Situated on a canal, this lovely 5 acre park has a lot of amenities. These include a restroom, large playground, basketball court, sand volleyball court, boat launch, and fishing dock. In August of this year the park was renovated to include two new dog parks, one for small dogs and one for large. Dog fountains, benches, and new fencing were added to the area. A new kayak launch, expanded sidewalks and a new parking lot were also added to the park. It is very nice to sit on one of the swing benches and watch the ducks and boats sail by.
