The boardwalk is pretty long if crossing over carrying a lot of stuff on a hot day that may not be too enjoyable for some. It's also pretty bumpy on a bike. I loved that it offers so many activities in one place--kayaking, paddleboarding, the beach, picnic areas, a gift shop, and educational exhibits--all at very reasonable prices. Parking was only $5, and the kayak and paddleboard rentals were affordable too. Unfortunately, I happened to visit on a day with an extremely low tide. Paddleboard rentals were suspended, but kayak rentals were still available. The staff did warn us about the low tide and advised us to stay near the edges to avoid getting stuck. However, as someone new to kayaking, I didn't realize just how much the tide would impact the experience. For a large portion of our trip, the water was so shallow that our kayaks constantly got stuck. We had to repeatedly get out and drag them through the water. At times, the water wasn't even ankle deep. I completely understand that the staff can't control the tides, but I honestly wish kayak rentals had also been paused that day because the conditions made it difficult to really enjoy the experience. By the time we finished kayaking, we were exhausted and felt pretty gross from walking through the murky water, so we ended up skipping the beach altogether. Outside of that, the park itself looked lovely. There was a nice picnic area, a cute gift shop, and they even had a rescued sea turtle with a volunteer sharing information about sea turtle conservation, which was a really nice touch. There also appeared to be several educational exhibits throughout the park, although they happened to be closed during our visit. One downside was a pretty unpleasant smell near the gift shop, but I'm guessing that may have also been related to the unusually low tide. Despite my experience, I haven't written the park off. The photos I've seen online make it look absolutely beautiful, and I think we were just unlucky with the timing. I'd definitely consider coming back on a day with higher water levels to give it another chance. It sounds like a great park overall--I just recommend checking the tide conditions before planning to kayak or paddleboard so you can enjoy it at its best.

The Palm Beach Gardens Playground is a great recreational area to take the kids for play. I like…read morehow it is completely fenced in for safety. The playground is large and has a lot of climbing equipment, slides, and swings. This area of the park also has a covered pavilion with a picnic tables and a portable restroom. A few days ago a woman and her two daughters were shocked by the metal railing leading to the restroom. The city determined it was due to a leaky air conditioning unit on top of the restroom and they have fixed the issue. i would still caution against touching the railing just to be on the safe side. In the immediate area outside the playground there is even more for families to enjoy like a memorial meditation garden and aquatics center with pool, splash zone, and water slide. A brand new 30 million dollar community center is being built with a refurbished gym, wellness studio, cultural art space, art studios, rooms for STEM programs, new restrooms, and more. With the addition of the new community center this corner of Palm Beach Gardens is going to be an impressive gathering place for the community.

This park has access to the intracoastal waterway so you can launch a boat. You must have a permit which can be obtained online to use the boat launch. You can also purchase a $10 onsite daily permit. They have a lot of trailer parking. A cool thing I saw here for the first time was a kiosk from Padl.com that lets you rent paddle boards for $15 an hour. You download the app and they send you a number to unlock the board. The app will map your route and give you stats on your paddle. When you are done you just lock it back up. That's a lot better than trying to tie a board to the roof of your car, I definitely want to try it out one day. This is a very nice park to boat, fish, picnic, play, and exercise.

Kelsey Park is named for Harry Seymour Kelsey, a wealthy Bostonian who joined the Florida land boom…read morein 1919 when he bought 30,000 acres in north Palm Beach. Eventually he went on to own 100,000 acres. He founded Kelsey City and invested a million dollars. The first lots of land he sold for development are where the park stands today. Eventual money problems with the IRS and the Great Depression forced Kelsey to sell his town and in 1939 residents voted to change the name of the town to Lake Park. Located in the park is the historic 1925 mission style Evergreen House. It belongs to the Lake Park Historical Society and they hold meeting and lectures in Evergreen House. The house has cypress ceilings and front door and Dade pine floors and a fireplace. It's back patio overlooks Kelsey Park. The park has six tennis court and area residents can schedule lessons. There is a children's playground and the park has two beautiful fountains and a gazebo that can be rented from the city for events. There are covered picnic tables and a restroom. A street cuts the park in half. On the opposite side is the part of the park that lines the Lake Worth Lagoon. This part of the park has a parking lot and an area for fishing. I love the history that resides in this park. The city of Lake Park has honored their founder while creating a wonderful green space that can be used by town residents today, Many events are staged by the city here including an upcoming Easter egg hunt. This park is a beautiful place to bring the community together.

But, it is its own park, and it stretches from A1A Beach Road to US1! It contains: -a big parking lot that allows access to the beach across the street -a grassy area of pavilions and picnic tables -a pirate playground -the (elusive) entrance to the East side of the Juno Dunes Natural Area, which I wasn't sure actually existed. -a bathroom facility -its own nature trail This parking lot is a decent size with free parking. The pavilion of bathrooms are clean and well-maintained, especially if you are headed to the beach. The picnic tables are calling out for (kid birthday) party use, especially with the beach, playground and marinelife center all in walking distance. I came here specifically for the playground. It is shaped like a pirate ship. It has a sandy bottom. It has some swings also. It is not fenced, but it is set back from the parking lot decently and no where near the roads. I didn't get too involved with the pirate ship (because I perched at the closest bench) but my kids definitely loved it.

Everything you need, nothing you have to pay extra for. That alone earns five stars. But the real magic is what surrounds you once you get out there. The reefs right off the beach are incredible for snorkeling. We are talking vibrant fish, clear visibility, and that feeling of stumbling into another world just steps from shore. Today we launched our inflatable paddle boards right from Ocean Reef and paddled all the way down to the Pumphouse and back, a solid 2.7 miles of crystal clear blue water, warm summer sun, and zero crowds. The water was that perfect shade of turquoise that makes you forget you are in Florida and feel like you are somewhere in the Caribbean. Whether you are coming to snorkel the reefs, SUP the Intracoastal, throw something on the grill, or just plant yourself on one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in South Florida, Ocean Reef Park delivers every single time. Really nice place with friendly attentive lifeguards. Every time we have come here the people working the checkout have been bizarre. When I came here yesterday I went out of my way to be friendly, and yet someone called Erin or Erica butted her way into the conversation. She's like going on and on about this is your receipt for a rain check and if you get it wet we aren't stamping it and you're not getting back in here, that's your responsibility. Who even talks like that? Sad. It was really clear that her anger had little to do with us. So then I'm like saying well I don't have any compartments in my bag could I just leave my receipt here and write my name on it in case the park closes or it would get wet and she's saying we have over 400 people here a day and that's not my problem. The young girl we started our conversation with had much better social awareness. When we did inevitably get a rain check they said oh you have 3 days to come back but we're closed for maintenance on one of them.
