They welcomed us and then gave us space to browse, which we did for about an hour. No pushiness at all, and knowledgeable, courteous help when we had questions. Being there for so long, I observed the same professional service given to other shoppers. A nice variety of workhorse and upscale, arty yarns and fibers are available, including a good selection put up in cones (a better value for weavers and others who go through a lot of a specific yarn). Several brands were stocked in a wide variety of colors, making it easy to plan colorwork projects. Prices seem reasonable too. Other supplies available include needles, hooks, and circular needle sets; embroidery and cross stitch supplies; a variety of products for washing yarn; buttons; books; table looms; and decals and pins for showing off your fiber fandom. Moon and Yarn is a great place to find offbeat gifts for the fiber artist in your life. Even though the place is well stocked, it doesn't look cluttered. Everything is attractively displayed. While Beehive Needlepoint has a great selection, I will no longer be giving them my business. The…read morestaff is consistently unfriendly, and there is one employee in particular who is outright rude to me and other customers every single time I visit. I have purchased a couple of canvases here in the past, but during my most recent visit, this staff member was so rude that I actually walked out right before making a purchase. They carry Penny Linn canvases and accessories, and while I love buying those in-person, I refuse to support a shop that treats people this way. It is incredibly disappointing--they even have an item in stock right now that is sold out everywhere online, but I would genuinely rather wait for another shop to restock it than give Beehive another dime. As a fairly new needlepointer, I just don't feel comfortable asking for help here. I used to come in for thread, but from now on, I will be buying online or driving further away to shops that actually welcome their customers.

After 30 minutes in the store, I was never greeted, checked on, or even smiled at. I watched as the staff said hello to everyone that walked in the door and approached most of them asking if they needed any help. There were at least four or five women working and there were plenty of opportunities for someone to say hello without going out of their way. Two of them pushed past me to help other customers and one glared at me after I smiled when we made eye contact. After 30 minutes, I walked out. I have never experienced anything like this. There are a few great needlepoint shops in the Pittsburgh area and you can definitely skip this one.
