Originally, our…read morefirst experience with Yuriy's was when we purchased my engagement ring in the downtown shop, but everything else we purchased or had repaired/restored has been in the South Hills shop, and the work has been above any expectations we could have hoped for. Yuriy's recently repurposed my mother's 1951 class ring from 5th Avenue HS (a historic landmark in Pittsburgh), into a pendent (just beautiful), and is in the process of redesigning the band to preserve the date. Just recently, Yuriys repaired and restored my mother's bracelet from childhood, which is almost 100 years old, she's 93 (absolutely incredible)! To have these memories preserved is such a treasure. In addition to the restorations, we have purchased some pretty amazing watches, rings and (necklaces, btw, that was a big surprise you found for my husband), I LOVE it, thank you Misha!!! We're plenty familiar with the pricing of many jewelry shops, and by far Yuriy's has the best service, best selection, best quality and the best prices! The salesman i work with is quite thorough in offering explanations on the quality of the jewelry they sell. He tells me of items to not invest in. As I do yearly I take my pieces in for both cleaning and inspection. My pieces are always warranted as long as I don't let any other jeweler tamper with them. Like most places this store is high end but payment plans can be arranged if you are interested in making a special purchase. There are many other wholesale jewelry stores in the Clark Building which is currently under renovation. I don't mind coming here once a year to make sure my rings are in good condition and can be confident when I wear them.

While Beehive Needlepoint has a great selection, I will no longer be giving them my business. The…read morestaff is consistently unfriendly, and there is one employee in particular who is outright rude to me and other customers every single time I visit. I have purchased a couple of canvases here in the past, but during my most recent visit, this staff member was so rude that I actually walked out right before making a purchase. They carry Penny Linn canvases and accessories, and while I love buying those in-person, I refuse to support a shop that treats people this way. It is incredibly disappointing--they even have an item in stock right now that is sold out everywhere online, but I would genuinely rather wait for another shop to restock it than give Beehive another dime. As a fairly new needlepointer, I just don't feel comfortable asking for help here. I used to come in for thread, but from now on, I will be buying online or driving further away to shops that actually welcome their customers.

After 30 minutes in the store, I was never greeted, checked on, or even smiled at. I watched as the staff said hello to everyone that walked in the door and approached most of them asking if they needed any help. There were at least four or five women working and there were plenty of opportunities for someone to say hello without going out of their way. Two of them pushed past me to help other customers and one glared at me after I smiled when we made eye contact. After 30 minutes, I walked out. I have never experienced anything like this. There are a few great needlepoint shops in the Pittsburgh area and you can definitely skip this one.
