A couple non-connected rooms, I wasn't sure which one to walk into. The first one I went into was a double bar-type setup and it was crowded. No place to sit, so I went to the other side and it was more of a restaurant layout (with a bar too). It was crowded too, but there was room for me, so I copped a squat at a table. I arrived too late for the food so I ended up just having a few beers. There were families there, a good mix of clients. TVs everywhere with football/soccer on. Didn't get the chance to go back on that trip, but will on my next visit. All in all, a fan!

I had the bacon and chicken chiabatta, and I would have been very happy with it, if my bacon was crispy on its fat and it was a bit warmer. The chips served with it however, were really nice - makes a difference when almost everywhere in UK the chips are half fried... prices were more than ok happy to go back. Oh! I forgot to mention that it was packed during lunch time, and that made it a bit noisy, but bearable. It has very clean toilets, and they smell nice. Did not also like the fact that when I entered the place there was a dog inside where the bar area is...

The wine is lovely and there are real ales on tap. Through to the restaurant area, it is nicely decorated, warm and spacious with another fire. The service is attentive and friendly and the menu changes regularly and has lovely hearty food all at reasonable prices. I can particular recommend the burger - although the wedges are spicy! All in all, a lovely bar and restaurant, worth the drive out of town for. There is plenty of parking and it is kid friendly. I hope you like it as much as I do!

I was pleased to see it was full with my favouraite skins, he then opped into a battle royal match where i intently watched him crank some 90s in creative.I then finished my visit by consuming a diet coke and some chicken wings, they were spectacular, although i was fighting for my life in the toilets after.I then stole the cutlery as a souvineir from my visit. The food was always very convenient and at 2oclock it was nice and quiet so you could catch up with mates or family. However, they do stop serving food at 2pm now monday to thursday which is a little inconvenient. The food itself is lovely and there is a wide range to cater for different needs. You can purchase anything from a simple portion of chips to a three course meal. It's not overly expensive, infact i find the price just about right for the menus. One criticism i do have though is that once you've been a few times the level of service seems to drop and you do infact feel like you're being ignored at times. 8 out of 10.

At around 9:00 we were told that we were being cut off (no more service). So I asked the management: Had we been rude? No. Had we upset other customers? No. Were any of our party of four staggering around and overly intoxicated? No. So why were we cut off? "We have a duty of care - company rules". Ok. Understood. But what duty of care is required for people who are not overly intoxicated? "It's just the rules. Thanks for your custom. See you soon". No you won't, Prince of Wales. After 40-50 years, we won't be back. This is a sad day.

Whisky Galore Oh…read moreboy, if you know your Scottish Cities and their Pubs then you will know what I mean when I say the Grill is to Aberdeen what that Horseshoe is to Glasgow and The Guildford (Or Café Royal, or Bow Bar) is to Edinburgh. And for those of you who don't know your Scottish Cities and their Pubs, allow me to clarify - It's ICONIC!! So, things you need to know, firstly they are rumoured to have the largest Whisky selection in Scotland (RUMOURED). I mean it is ridiculous, I'm sure if a fire started here it would blow up half of Union Street and said explosion could be seen from the Moon. So if you like your Whisky then this is a must visit pub. Secondly, this pub is older than you will ever be, My dad drank here when he was 5, and now he is 80, and people drank there before he was born. It's so old that they had to install ladies toilets a while back as there weren't any - and ladies are allowed to drink alongside men these days! Lastly, it might look like a dump outside, but don't mistake dump for character. This has more character than Monty Python. The floor clearly used to be strewn with sawdust back in the days, and some of the staff have seen more than their fair share of breakfasts - but that all adds to the experience. The experience here is guaranteed to be memorable for all the right reasons!

It is bloody long. The bar is also bloody long. By the way, it is pub and not a Grill. They decided to turn it from a restaurant to a pub around 1900 and never got around to changing the name. Let us get down to the essentials. This is about whisky and pilgrims and Scotland and finding places with a lot of bottles of the aforementioned. Well the Grill has it. 500 bottles. Let that number sink in. One dram a day. After spending a year performing that activity and you have not finished. They have some of the oldest drams on sale anywhere in the world - a 1938 Macallan, Several 1930 Malts and the legendary Black Bowmore. Voted in "Bar of the Year" in 2008 by Whisky Magazine and staffed with folks with Whisky expertise. If you do not like Whisky, then grab an ale and soak in the amazing architecture of this place. CAMRA has named this place as the most northerly Scottish "Pub Interior of Outstanding Historic Interest". So much to offer, you cannot lose by visiting this place. Pilgrims Ho!
