The meeting went well and the person that showed up at my house was nice and polite. The problem was that I felt as if I had to chase the person in order to get my bid. They stated that they had to go out of town and I would get the bid when they returned. So I received the bid 7 days after my appointment and 5 days after all the other bids. The price of the concrete was a fair price but I decided to go with another company because of the time frame I needed. Perhaps next project I can use this company.

Once demolition began, it seemed the project would move quickly, but here we are in mid-September, entering week nine, with no clear end in sight. We were told 4-6 weeks was the "sweet spot," yet we are still waiting for work to be completed and, often, simply waiting for someone to respond. Communication has been extremely frustrating. Calls frequently go unanswered, and emails and texts may not receive a response for a day or two, if at all. We should not have to repeatedly contact a company we have paid nearly $34,000 just to find out when our project will be finished. For that amount, we expected reasonable quality and attention to detail. This price did not include appliances, flooring, or lighting. Instead, we have encountered numerous problems and additional expenses. The cabinets were painted, but we are still waiting for a second coat because wood grain is visible through the paint. We were told the hinges on doors that did not open smoothly would be replaced, but they were not. The Level 1 quartz countertop we selected--the lowest quartz grade available--was outside the allowance, so we had to pay extra. We were also given barely enough for the backsplash and paid another $1,100 for the one we wanted. The cabinet hardware was poorly installed, leaving the wood inside the drawers shredded and damaging the drawer faces. We were told a 30-inch double oven could be installed, but when they installed it, they had to shave the wall so the doors would not scrape. The oven is not centered, and the drawer underneath it was also installed off-center. The cabinet above the microwave and the cabinet above the oven are different sizes and do not line up, making the area look misplaced. Had they been made the same size, we would also have had more usable space beneath the microwave. These may seem like small details, but they reflect a larger issue: there has been very little attention to detail. Several areas are visibly off-center or simply do not look professionally finished. Our new flooring, installed before the kitchen remodel, was damaged during their work and still has not been repaired. Our electric cooktop was damaged during removal/reinstallation for the countertop, and we are still waiting for the blower motor to be replaced. Paint was also left on our new countertops and brand-new dishwasher. The faucet was another issue. I provided the specific faucet I wanted, but because it was outside the allowance, they ordered a completely different one without getting my approval. It was not what I wanted, so I purchased the faucet myself. We have repeatedly been told the project would be finished "next week," only for another week to pass. The problem is no longer simply the delay; it is the combination of poor communication, unfinished work, damaged property, workmanship issues, and the difficulty getting anyone to take responsibility for completing the project. Another major concern is the payment structure. We were required to pay nearly 99% of the project cost before it was completed. We currently owe only about $400, yet there is considerably more than $400 worth of work and repairs remaining. When I questioned why we were paying nearly everything before the project was finished, I was told, essentially, that "that's the way it is." I made the payment because I was concerned they would stop showing up if we did not. Unfortunately, that is now exactly what we are struggling with--getting them to respond and finish what we have already paid for. We have tried to be patient and reasonable, but this has been an incredibly frustrating experience. A nearly $34,000 remodeling project should not require homeowners to continually chase the contractor, monitor basic workmanship, and repeatedly ask when the job will be completed. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this company for a remodeling project.

Please take notice as the gate lock picture reveals that our lock was clearly filled in and packed…read moredown with concrete. We found it after Jose finished and was gone. He did not lock our gate when he left...as it was locked before he started the work. Was he trying to keep us from securely locking our gate or trying to trick us in some way? He got some views of the inside of our home (while he was working). Why did he pack our privacy lock with concrete? We kept the damaged lock in case there's a break in. We would show police. This is Texas, so I don't recommend breaking into any homes. We had to beef up our security after this violation of trust. It would take me too long to go over each deceptive reply Jose made. I will cover a few. He has more to gain by telling a lie than I do. We needed a fence put in fast, so we ate his price hikes to get the job done. The former fence was on the ground in pieces (from a storm) and we needed it replaced for safety reasons. He took advantage which would not have bothered us if he did not become creepy toward the end of the job. He knows what he did and I know what he did. I only hope the folks on here will be aware of his deception...so no one is taken by JJ Construction. Jose did not offer, at any time, to replace the lock. Plus, we would not trust him to have the integrity NOT to keep a spare key. How foolish would we be...trusting Jose to provide a new lock for our privacy fencing? Our first lock worked great when we let Jose in and out...before work began. No concrete in the hole. Jose says he no longer works with his dad...as former reviews detail. So, those reviews are not as relevant since Jose works alone. Jose also told me the day before we began work that he needed us to pay 100% up front! We declined and it made us wonder if he didn't have the capitol to buy the supplies and this is a huge red flag. Jose stood in our backyard and told me he lives in Humble, TX (off of 1960). But Jose's contract shows a huge apartment complex at 3409 Brinkman St. Houston, TX 77018 (no apartment number provided). Please see attached and see a different location for JJ Construction (according to my research). He now claims his name is Jose A. Rangel and he was named after his dad. I do find a Jose A. Rangel in Humble and at a different address (see below). His reputation is not good...if this is him. One more address is a small home in Conroe. I have these addresses but don't feel right about posting publicly. Do your research and not trusting only reviews. I use my middle name and maiden name on some public forums because my first name is very unusual and people might easily recognize it. I also like anonymity for safety reasons. This is common practice. Jose (who never gave his real last name and gives a fake address) made a point of using my legal name, up front, on his reply. Jose hides his true identity but publicly reveals mine (a private citizen and not a business) without my consent. This further reveals what kind of person he is. Please do your own research before hiring Jose (with no last name). He might do the high-priced work, or he might rip you off. He might even try to break into your home after he leaves your gate vulnerable. Why take chances? Some sons are not as reputable as their father. It's a shame. I would not use him or recommend him no matter what. He ultimately gives me the feeling of a potential scammer. He ended our job with some serious creepy vibes when I asked him about why our gate lock was filling with pressed down concrete. He denied doing it but come on. No one else was here. Jose did reply to my calls until I paid him in full. We discovered a few issues with our gate (only days later). After he was paid, he let those calls go to VM. He didn't fix the gate to our satisfaction. He also tried to leave a huge gap in the gate opening and it not only looked bad and would be easier to breach, but it was against Harris County code for easier access to the latch. Jose muddies the water with figures about the code. But Jose never knew there was a code until I told him. This is what he confessed to me. If you hire him then my advice is to get a copy of his ID and take a picture of his vehicle license plate. I did the latter but not the former. Jose will also try to cut corners if you don't outline everything to be done correctly and also check his work...so the fence doesn't fall over in a few years...even if it looks good at first. Also, I could not verify his W9. Maybe you can verify it. Be sure to check the legitimacy of his insurance too. Hope you find a skilled and trustworthy fence contractor who provides you with a genuine last name and real address. Jose "thanked" me for my unfavorable review? That's odd. He should just own up to what he did or perhaps what he may have tried to do and stop playing games. Thanks for this opportunity to alert others.

After contacting several contractors in the Woodlands area, we selected Primo Outdoor Living to…read morebuild a new construction covered patio. Primo was quick to respond to our initial request and provided a detailed and professional construction plan along with a 3-dimensional model of what the finished project would look like. Kevin and his team were able to quickly answer any questions that we had and provided a quotation within 2 days. Primo handled all the inspections and permits required for the Woodlands Association approval. Primo built a new 500 sqft gabled patio with a 7' wide wood burning (gas light assist) fireplace along with sitting benches on each side. The fireplace, benches and supporting posts are finished in natural stone veneer with a "dry stack" installation. The floor was constructed with Belgard Origins pavers in a Crab Orchard color. The ceiling was finished with a cedar tongue and groove finish along with a pony wall and cedar collar ties. To finish the project, Primo also installed new cedar fencing in the back yard. We are 100% completely satisfied with the workmanship and responsiveness of Primo Outdoor Living. They finished the project on time and were completely transparent with all aspects of the construction. In our opinion, Primo has an outstanding team that completed the project as agreed on. Kevin (owner) was at our site every morning to answer our questions and oversee the construction progress. The Primo construction crew were dependable and arrived early every morning. They did not require any micromanagement whatsoever. David, Juan, Jaime, Chealbi and the rest of the Primo staff are outstanding, easy to work with and can be counted on to do the right thing. We will definitely be using Primo on future outdoor projects.

And the old red tile decking was worn and chipped with gaps between the tread and risers of the steps. TRM rebuilt the whole entranceway, with a beautiful fiberglass single door with sidelights, a new overhead window, all centered with the front brick arch, new hardi -siding (with butt joints rather than lap joints at the corners) and travertine decking and steps.
