Jan 2024- mee krang (sp?) toastie DELICOUS!

January 2024- unfortunately the day I visited Dutch Smuggler, it was POURING rain in Sydney. They have a few tables with umbrellas in front but I couldn't sit and enjoy my coffee for there because of the rain. I ended up sitting around the corner where there was a bench. I very much enjoyed my cappuccino and savory toastie sandwich. The girl working was pleasant enough. Overall it was a clean space and they had Aesop sanitizer available. Prices are reasonable also for the quality of the coffee and food. I would recommend this place and would go back next time I visit Sydney.

After walking around the city we decided to grab some lunch. This was close by and boy did we stumble across a gem. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking, plaza parking, and metered parking. However this is the city so finding parking can get costly. I would look into public transportation. Seating: Outside seating for maybe 20 people or 4 small groups. Vibes: The area is nice. A lot of city things (art, restaurants, shops, and businesses) around the area to keep you busy. It is next to skyscrapers so I can see them getting extremely busy during lunch time. The spot itself is a cove where you order and either eat outside or to go. FOOD: Mi-Goreng Toastie (Recommend) Mi-Goreng are fried instant noodles from Indonesia, some green onions, cheese, and toasted bread. The spicy mayo gives it an additional smooth texture. This was truly an umami bomb! Truffle Garlic Noodles (Recommend) If you're looking to reduce your carbs then the noodles are a great choice. A lovely presentation of the noodles decked with stripped flower petals. The noodles were soft but also had a nice crunch. Every bite was loaded with flavor. I actually wish I had bread to help absorb all the sauce. Matcha Latte (Recommend) Lovely! Nothing too flashy but a lovely aesthetic to the delivery. I enjoyed the earthy and smooth drink. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Solid! Twas a busy rush but they seemed to handle it calmly and professionally. TL; DR OVERALL: 5 Stars. Awesome! I am grateful we stumbled upon this place. Great menu, delicious food, and reasonable prices. I can't believe this looks like a simple grab-and-go as this food is certainly needs to be calmly enjoyed and not on a rush. Australia is sure lucky to have a place like this! TIPS: * To avoid the wait, order online

We found this place after searching online for great breakfasts in Sydney. I had the recommended mi goreng noodle, which is mi goreng noodles, fried egg, cheese, and whatever the heck "magic sauce" is (it is magic). It was just the right amount of savory, cheesy, salty. It had perfect amount of runny yolk. I also had a cold tea that was refreshing and light. My husband had their version of a vegetarian melt (he had it with cheese, but it's available with vegan cashew cheese). He liked it. The servers were nice and prompt. The mi goreng seems to be their signature--I would try it if you've never been here, but they have many near menu options and lots of coffees to try!

Had the Mi Goerang sandwich and it was phenomenal. The best sensation of sweet, spicy, and salty that hit the spot.

First impressions count, and GC had me at hello... That 'tash, is to curling what.... Curling is to the winter olympics. Awesome sauce! I fully expect moustache rides will be on the menu if business ever hits the skids. Alas, despite the gleeful charm of the curly coifed one, nothing short of an excellent coffee with character was going to make the all important lasting impression on me and sadly in that area GC disappoints. I gave GC the Soy Latte test and the Long Black test and it just doesn't measure up to other coffee in the area. I like strong coffee with complexity and GC just doesn't have that. It's not the worst but it is very weak despite using the same La Marzocco espresso machine (that Barista's rave about for ease of use) as other places in the area. The service at GC however is very good and to some people that's first priority. So if you aren't too fussy about your coffee and are looking for a smile and a spring in your step from an energetic soul then get your morning fix at GC, and start the day on a happy note.

We came in thinking it was just a coffee shop, but it's essentially a restaurant that also has a focus on coffee. They have a full bar and a window to the outside where you can order just coffee and tea to go. As for the interior it's dimly lit and sort of has romantic date night vibes. We essentially only ordered coffee and one person ordered a cake slice. The lychee cake was pretty good per my aunt. A couple people ordered the Coco Loco, which is basically an espresso martini on steroids with Nutella and something like a Ferrero Rocher. I ordered a latte and their Affogato. The latte was very smooth and BI is arguably one of the best I've ever had. Is the Affogato a cheat code because they use like a tiramisu ice cream? You could argue that case. You can also buy their blends of coffee beans, subject to availability. While the latte was very smooth, I can't say it was mind blowing but it was still pretty good.

I also reserve 4 and 5 star reviews for exceptional service with unforgettable dining experiences. The ambience is intimate but also noisy. I will say the coffee here and in Australia in general is some of the best coffee I've ever had. I ordered (2) espresso martinis, pancakes, and the sirloin steak breakfast with a side hashbrown. My pancakes were stone cold but I will say the aesthetics on it made it edible. The pistachio butter cream was to die for. My steak was ok ; for the price I simply just wanted more. I could be wrong but I doubt it was even 6oz. If you have this place on your radar be sure to make reservations. This goes for almost every restaurant in Sydney. My server was Cassie who was very personable and even gave us tips on what to watch out for dining in Sydney.
