This is our first time to order from Amaroo Hills, and, so far, we're impressed. My wife has…read moreacquired Alpha-Gal, a tick-borne illness that makes you allergic to certain proteins, such as beef and pork. So, we've been searching for alternatives to beef and pork and found emu and ostrich meat is a safe alternative. Finding any of these meats locally has been a failure, so we went online, and found a couple reliable sites. One was basically out of stock on a lot of their products, so we decided on Amaroo Hills. They have a good assortment of emu and ostrich products at different price points. We opted for some of the less expensive cuts, even though these weren't cheap, but beef is sky-high too. We ordered several emu round steaks, emu flat filets and ostrich steaks. The website was easy to negotiate and check out was a snap. We were given a specific window for when the meat would be delivered, and it arrived within a week at the time we were told. The meat was packaged very well, with plenty of dry ice to keep everything frozen. The meats arrived frozen solid and ready for the freezer. The meats themselves are very good looking and look fresh. Unfortunately, we haven't tried any yet, but we have no doubt they will be fine. The meat has a quality look about it, so, if you know how to cook and do some research on best ways to cook emu and ostrich, the end product will be excellent. I'll update this review once we try some, but I feel confident in giving Amaroo Hills 5 stars.

We used ground Emu in the cottage pie recipe that was included in the order. Sooo tasty! Thank you! The Emu really did taste good. Will definitely order it again. I really appreciate the speed and efficient manner in which it shipped.

This humble establishment is shining full-on and out-classing others in more expensive places (that should be taking notes or otherwise be ashamed of themselves!) Expecting white bread and bologna?? It's there, but part of a menu that offers the best selection of sandwich meats (15 to 20+?,) cheeses, and artisan sandwich breads I've encountered in a long, long time. They simply do it well. I suspect you'll be hard pressed to find anyone else stocked to produce velvety smooth liver loaf on a cheddar and jalapeno bread (not sorry that I was too busy enjoying my meal to snag a pic.) It was not only tasty, it was beautifully done. It's not over-the-top and it's not high-volume. It's clean and truly memorable. There's a variety of sodas, teas, and coffee. Yes, they sell marmalade...and fudge...and top-notch prepared salads to-go...breads, bubblegum cigars...cookies...sauces...and just explore the shelves to find yourself smiling. You're in the country and your mileage is only likely to vary by the road that brought you there. So, enjoy the porch...the picnic table... or your car seat. All orders are for carry-out (no indoor dining.) Take time to smell the flowers and enjoy the potted plants which brighten the place (and are also for sale.)
