I was looking for a DJ for my moms retirement party and spoke to Oscar who is the owner and founder of Dustherus. I had called a few other DJ's but after speaking with Dustherus I could tell that the other DJ's were not as professional. The depth of the conversation with other DJ's was: what type of genre they should play and how much they would charge me. I knew that I wanted someone who was going to be able to articulate my needs into more than just a "playlist" which is what most DJ's nowadays do. Rather than that Oscar spoke with me in detail about exactly what I wanted for my party. He took the time to ask me about specific songs, genres, the layout of venue and the age range of the audience. I was amazed at how precise and technical he had gotten. I was really impressed and surprised at how dedicated he is to his work. He told me that for a 4 hour party he would practice for weeks in advance for my event. My sister and I were so happy with how well the party went for my mom's retirement party!! My mom is still young at heart so we had everything from old school R&B to new school hip-hop. To add to it all Oscar has a charming microphone/stage presence. The place was jumping, the sound system sounded great and everyone had a great time. If you need epic sound, you have found it. We hired Dustherus to put sound equipment in a 2 floor space for a party for 250. It could not have been better. Oscar's customer service is professional, fast, and so helpful. Our friend was going to DJ, and Oscar communicated directly with him, making sure he had all of the correct hookups and connections. He did a site visit to determine where to set up speakers for best sound, and also set up and broke down at late hours. The party was banging and it was because of the sound. Oscar and Dustherus did an amazing job at my wedding this past May. Everything sounded great and they provided an extremely high, professional level of service, from the earliest planning stages, to dj and mc services at the event. Dustherus managed our various audio needs -- ceremony mics, instrument mics for live musicians, speakers and mixing for the outdoors cocktail hour and a separate system for the actual reception -- with aplomb, and provided top end equipment to cover all bases. They did an incredible job mixing and helping us develop and tailor the playlists, and the live DJ set during the reception had us and our guests on the dance floor all night. I would definitely recommend Dustherus to anyone looking for a DJ! My husband and I got married in October 2014 out in eastern Long Island. Oscar sat down with us at the very beginning to get an idea of what we wanted for the big day. Our main concern was putting together the playlist for the reception. We knew a lot of what we didn't want, and were more so afraid of the dreaded "Long Island DJ". We didn't want something loud and obnoxious, with cheesy house music and gawdy setups. Instead, we wanted the music selection and coordination to reflect our tastes. That's where Oscar stepped in and provided his professional expertise. He was able to take our ideas and implement them seamlessly from specific song choices to overall decisions. What surprised us was seeing how much more there was that went into the DJ involvement of a wedding (not just a playlist). We had all our wedding festivities from ceremony, to cocktail hour, to reception in the same building (albeit separate rooms/spaces). So we knew that would be a challenge for any DJ since that involves 3 separate prep, setup, and clean up arrangements. But Oscar was amazing. He managed it all without a single hiccup and the transitions between each part of the wedding day were flawless. He explained everything in detail to us about the setup and coordination for each part of the wedding. We felt completely at ease leading up to and especially on the day of. As most of us know, music and sound in general, is such a key part of any event. So hiring the right DJ is without a doubt one of the most important decisions you'll make. Oscar listened to what we wanted and worked with us to help realize our vision for the wedding. His skill set is very hard to find. He was extremely detailed and organized, planning everything down to the minute. Amazing. Sincerely. Oscar and Dustherus made my entire wedding. They took the playlist/wish list they encouraged my wife and I to put together and masterfully mixed a set literally tailored to EVERY moment of the wedding. (I never even thought you could even ask for something like that.) From the pre-ceremony/ceremony music, to cocktail hour to dinner to the most epic live set that blew my family and I out of the water (Everyone was literally dancing and singing at the top of their lungs), the massive amount of equipment Oscar showed up with was nothing short of professional. Dustherus was considerate, punctual (our emails were always answered immediately and generously) and on the day of, when Oscar showed up hours early, had lavalier mics, two separate systems for our cocktail hour and ceremony and then a third for our dinner/dancing (which was massive), I knew we'd made the right choice. Needless to say, our wedding was the best night of my life; I married the girl of my dreams and got to hang out with my closest friends and family with Dustherus following every step with the perfect sound, which any one with half a brain knows is the most important component to creating any moment, other than the people you are with.
