If you haven't heard of or been to The Quarry on the south shore of Chicago, I'm putting you on notice. We joined Chicago history maker and philanthropist Yvette J. Moyo for her birthday celebration. Every Friday at the Quarry, there's, jazz and beautiful food and drinks for grown folks. I walked in and was utterly surprised the tables need to be thrown away and rebought. The 6 foot serving tables were not sturdy at all. And the tables where the guest sat were horrible. Thank my lucky stars I brought my own black table clothes. The place was HOT. They claimed to have had the air on but it was an 85 degree day and cooler outside then in there. The shared kitchen was ok. But the freezer is full of old food. The manger was abit rude and unprofessional as someone parked by the door and we advised her we would have them move. She advised they could park in the parking lot she would open it as a courtesy but it's normally $75 an hour to park there . She also made mention that the shared kitchen was $25 a hour. After she was done with her ranting. I mention to her that those items were included in our contract. She paused and recanted her statement. I totally understand what they are doing in this neighborhood and I commend them for it. However, the hourly price they are charging does not match up with the space. I'm hoping they continue to work on this location and improve it! Also, I'm going to assume the sign they provided on this ad is the future sign for the building as there is a plastic sign hung up on there right now

They were a bit elevated, so we saw the stage very well while standing (except when a tall dude stood in front of us for awhile, but c'est la vie). There was a bar and the line seemed to move pretty fast. We didn't use the restrooms, but they were clearly marked. My only complaint would be that there's a long staircase you need to climb to get to the concert space. Not the most friendly for those with disabilities or difficulty climbing steps. Also feels like it could be a bit of a hazard in the wrong conditions. Otherwise, great place!

We reserved a time on a Friday in the Tasting room, in June, Pride month. We arrived just about on time, to a few parties not a mob. The front room had a lively group, but we were shown to the back. We passed a couple of 'private' rooms surrounded by curtains with a party present there. Sounds like a fun place to hang out when you have a small group and want privacy. We were taken to the back, which was empty, and seated. The seating is tricky back there, with a cushioned bench against the wall, and vinyl chairs to sit in. It is comfortable but reaching the odd, low to the ground tables was awkward for my party. the wait was longish as maybe there was only 1 waitress available, but we were given water and a menu. There is a separate bar back there but we had to order wine through the waitress. There was some..interesting music playing rather loudly. Lots of hip/hop and rap, which I am fine with most of the time. I KNOW it was a Friday night but this is supposed to be a wine bar, not a nightclub. Finally we ordered a flight each, me for house wines, my party for premium, and 2 dips. We wanted to avoid too much dairy. I was ok with my wine, but a flight usu is 4 of something, not just 3, see my pic. The waitress was patient, professional and informative. The dips were delicious, and then we ordered charcuterie. I'd love to try the 'fatbreads' but we were doing low-carb that night! We ordered a full glass of one of the wines we tasted. At the end, the bill was $151! for the 2 of us! Yikes! I have been to wine clubs such as Cooper's Hawk where I would have had to get a 90 Minute Tasting and dinner to spend that much! The bathroom was nicely decorated and clean, and there are 2, all-gender, one at a time deals. I did not ask them to turn the music down as I don't want the staff to think I am 80 years old! I would go back to try the Fatbread and a glass of wine; the old pics on the wall and decorations are nice, but the prices are kind of high, and the music/atmosphere is too clubby.
