Fell into this joint while visiting my family in the Chi. I came from Los Angeles. They play pretty kool housemusic to me but what do I know. Watched the end of the playoffs and everybody was dancing. Did not drink but it was kool people there and great vibes. Parking was easy on the streets. Walked right in. No cover charge. It's a cool place to hang out with friends/family. The area doesn't seem like the best area at night, so try not to travel alone. Travel in a group if you can. I had a guy attempt to follow me to my car to get my number. The bathrooms are usually clean, bartenders are generally sweet. I would say this is an ok place to go if you are looking for somewhere to hangout. I can't speak on the music because most of the time ,depending on the event, it may be a different DJ each time. The place is clean and seems well taken care of. If they are packed don't expect to find a seat, unless you arrive early. They have a back patio with a fire pit that's open in the summer. There is an additional bar back there. Parking is normally free around the area. I've never had to pay for parking. read more

This place is disgusting and needs to be shut down. I attended a Super Bowl Party here last night. I had a 6 dollar watered down Apple Martini.... It was clear, but suppose to be green! There was no running water. The toilets were full of feces, blood, and urine. The sinks did not work, so no one could wash their hands. The bar was serving drinks in plastic cups. They had a restaurant catering food there, and charging about 6 dollars for 5 wings. But of course we know their hands were dirty. The floors were also covered in water in the front of the bar and they used a fan to dry the carpets . It was just disgusting . The health department needs to inspect this place ASAP !!!! I was able to score some tickets for a day party held at this location This is the former spot, of jokes sand notes comedy club that I used to frequent often I love what they have done to the place open seating comfortable couches on dim lighting when you walk outside there's a patio and firepit they even had set up some hookah for the guests to enjoy Everything was clean and spotless because we were some of the first guests to arrive no issues with the bathrooms the only issue I would say was for the event itself and it pretty much balls on the promoter which stated in the flyer that you would get free Refreshments until it was exhausted so when I found who to voice my concerns to which was a gentleman in the Hat I cannot recall his name right now he took care of the problem and promptly bought a appetizers to eat he bought my first round of drink and my girlfriend bought several others they had a drink promotion for the evening that the DJ on the ones and twos were was amazing we had a decent time read more

As a house music fan, I really love this joint! Its good to come here and see/hear the likes of Alan King & Terry Hunter doing they thing on the wheels of steel. Not a lot of decent places in Chicago for African Americans to consistently go to and hear awesome house music with the nice sized space this place has. Good crowds frequent this place and are usually dancing they ass off, having some drinks and just hanging and enjoying one another company. I have been here on Sunday & Wednesdays and both are a good time. I would say the only issue I have here is the sometimes catch me if you can bar staff. Don't get me wrong as I understand if the place is crowded then you have to wait your turn, but if the bar has mellowed out and there are just a handful of people I shouldn't be waiting forever to get your attention. Its good to fellowship with regulars and have conversation, but have some awareness when it comes to others standing around the bar...take a look around while you chat with your people and make sure the drinks continue to get poured. Basic and prices are too high. We want a bar for adults in the Bronzeville area not a club. I don't want to pay to get in a bar. You cannot charge downtown prices and have south side service. Last night I went to meet a friend after I had been at another spot having drinks. There were only maybe 10 ppl in the spot first of all. My friend bought me and my girl a drink. I went to order. I got a Ciroq and pineapple $9 ok cool then I ordered a Prosecco with a splash of Grand Marnier and by total bill was $31.. ARE YOU SERIOUS?? I've been to this establishment twice. Both on a Saturday. The music is always sooo on point. Current hip hop, house Music etc. They make the BEST Henny sidecars EVERRR!! Not really sure about the prices for other drinks but a side car will run you about $12. Now here's the thing I love most..the crowd. It's def an over 30 crowd so you never have to worry about rambunctiousness or tomfoolery. The vibe is smooth. Usually if you get there before 11 it's free. Good tip: Arrive early for great seating. I was there recently and I was at the bar the entire night spending money. A young lady who's one of your bar tenders took my order but because she couldn't hear me because I had my mask on she shrugged her shoulders, rolled her eyes and walked away and never came back and when she did come back my way she took everyone's order except mines. As I can recall it's still a pandemic.. Covid still exist. That was so rude and uncalled for. If anything she could have said I can't hear you can you pull your mask down. Everything else was uncalled for. This was my first time even being at this location and I had that I had to experience something so rude, uncalled for and unnecessary at a black owned establishment. I attended the Chicago Black Barcrawl this weekend and had a great time at each location supporting black owned businesses, but this establishment was a disappointment. My group of friends were sitting out side around the fire pit when a waitress came and took our order. 5 shots of Patron. She brought all the shots and limes together on a tray at the same time. We took the shots and about ten minutes later decided to go for another round. A second waitress came out and offered to take our order. We ordered the exact same thing. She arrives 5 minutes later with two shots on her tray and said she had to go get the other shots, we ask for limes as well. She come back 5 minutes later with three more shots and says she doesn't have anymore limes. Someone asks her to bring whatever fruit she has. In the time frame of waiting for the fruit, three of our shots were knocked over as a stranger knocked one of the girls in our party onto the ledge of the fire pit where the shots were sitting while we waited on the fruit. The waitress returns and we explain what happens and ask can the shots be replaced. She said she had to go get her manager. Five minutes later the waitress returns with a woman and a security guard, which off the back rubbed us the wrong way because we respectfully asked for our shots to be replaced. We explained the situation to the manager. She said, "The girl who knocked over the shots didn't work there so it wasn't their problem." I in turn said, "Your waitress doesn't know how to brings a round of shots all together so they were spilled waiting on her." She then said the girl had only been working there for two days. So I said, "That's not my problem, you have an untrained waitress working." Eventually I stopped speaking to the waitress as I became agitated with her nasty attitude and people in my party spoke with her. Somehow she needed up talking about noodles at home in your kitchen cabinet. Which made no damn sense and just proved how she is not qualified to be a manager. She eventually walked off without resolving the situation to go get her a piece of chicken! Never once did she apologize for her untrained waitress. Her attitude is horrible and it's managers like her who out good establishments out of business. The security requested we pay for the shots or leave! Of course we were not about to pay for something we didn't consume so we opted to leave. He made us leave out the back entrance into an alley, all females! We were not combative at all so I felt it was rude to ask us to exit out the back. We didn't cause a scene and we did exit out the back, but so much for a black establishment caring about black women!! We spent a lot of money in there before that happened, but I can guarantee you they will never get another dollar out of me! Black people don't have to support black businesses who offer poor service!! Please do better! Persona, Mr. Browns, and Velvet Lounge were amazing so I would totally recommend going to those BOB if you're looking for one. read more

So, we decided to Uber to this establishment a little after 2am on Saturday night. We get there and the guy at the door tells us there is a $40 cover charge. It's after 2am, last call will be in 15 or 20 minutes plus there's no one performing .. Sooo, why 40 bucks?? We'd already consumed a few cocktails before arriving. Upon arriving the security at the door searched EVERYONE especially all the men thoroughly from head to toe and search the women purses. How I know because I was there watching them. However, apparently if they don't know you this is how they search you. The ones they apparently does not get searched in t his manner. However, with all this searching goes on there. Please explain to me how a fight break out and one of my close family members was shot down in there like a dog. Not to mention another one of my family members was shot in the leg. Which makes that one killed and the other shot. the newspaper lied it did not start over what they said it began over. the club refused to cooperate with the Police 1st they were live streaming it only. Now apparently saying their camera's was not working that night at ALL. Which is a total lie. This club should be shut down to the ground and the owner should not be able to sleep at night because an innocent victim was shot and killed in your club what if it was your family member. However, my Caucasian counter part was not asked for his identification when he used his credit card to pay for a round of drinks. Nonetheless, I tipped him well! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!!!!!!! It is 2018 and they are still discriminating against people for their sexual orientation. Far from professional and security makes up rules based on his on reasoning and personal views! II decided to celebrate my birthday at Renaissance Bronzeville as it is less than a mile away from my home. I wanted to patronize a BOB and though the lounge has been opened, I never had the opportunity to visit. I heard good things about the lounge in regards to the ambiance, mature crowd and so on. My husband and I arrived at 9:45 pm, was walked to our section, given the bottle we prepaid for and shown the list options in case we wanted to order more. We decided to order two more bottles of liquor as we were expecting at least 25 friends to show up and celebrate. By 11:30 most of my friends arrived and we were having a decent time until a female friend was refused entry and discriminated against due to her sexual orientation. Security stated that women were not allowed to enter the lounge with gym shoes. However, several men were inside with gym shoes, jogging suits, fitted hats and beanies. Other female friends have visited Renaissance on the weekends and were admitted with gym shoes on. My friend had on a blazer, jeans and gym shoes as she was just leaving work. So instead of creating a scene, I provided her my ugg boots in which she put on and tried to get in. At that point security informed her that she would have to be searched. There were at least 15 women with me and none of us were physically searched. However, he insisted that she would not get in unless she was searched. At that point we asked for a female security personnel to perform the search. He insisted that one was not available and that in order to get in she would have to be searched. Despite the obvious discrimination and bullying that was taken place she allowed it and her phone alerted the metal detector. At this point everyone was frustrated, emotionally drained and disappointed. We are unsure if a manager was on duty or even available as no one came out to diffuse or settle the situation. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to go to a decent and well put together night club in the Bronzeville, Woodlawn community this will definitely be the place. I was there for a birthday party. As we waited for the back club to open up I was mildly impressed. But baby, when they propped the doors open/what an experience. Dj was bumpin all night! What made the experience enjoyable was bartender Tiffany! She poorer stiff drinks, stayed on top of taking care of us, and overall was just dope. Her service was just above and beyond!
