The units are outdoors, but it was as promised: a storage unit. We brought our own combination lock. Access was easy. We let him know when the unit was empty and had no issues. She kept a LOT of stuff there for the summer, from her fan to a TV to her boyfriend's snowboard. My only suggestion would be to list an email address on the website to make communication easier. Beyond that, I was happy.

He says the remedy for his breach is in the contract, which is court.......and he steals your security deposit. He will make up any bogus claim to not give back your deposit, including drafting fake letters from so called witnesses. He will claim you let someone else use the property to store a few things of theirs, to justify breaching his obligations and keeping your security deposit. He admits there is no damage to the property but invents a reason to not give you your deposit. I don't know how Mr David Merkel sleeps at night taking advantage of tenants. Many people need and rely on in good faith the deposit they made and he steals. I Urge anyone who has unfortunately rented from him, don't pay last month's rent because he will never give your security deposit back. Get your stuff out and don't pay that last month. I have contacted the attorney general in NY to investigate him for a pattern of fraud. He hopes people won't bother filing a complaint especially if they are short on time or vulnerable. He is sadly mistaken. He will regret his unethical and illegal tactics. I will find ways to spread the word publicly and contact his current tenants via postcard or whatever means so they can be warned and can also know how to file complaints with the District Attorney in Clinton county and the Attorney General's office in NY.

Burlington to a…read morenew apartment and, as I had less room at the new place, I rented one of their outside units for tires, bike etc. When my Mom passed away I needed a temperature controlled unit inside for her furniture and they were able to find one there for me. I still have an indoor unit for my things and access is great, I can pull my car into the storage building close enough to make it easy to move tires, camping equipment, etc. in and out. The facility is gated for security and the only issue I've ever really had was when the gate failed and I got stuck inside the storage yard.. LOL. It was quickly fixed fortunately though it would have given me a great excuse to miss the family dinner I was dreading.

I was looking at a peak time. I started to call further and further outside of Burlington and finally found one storage unit available with Chimney Corners Self Storage. Deborah, the woman who answered the phone, was very helpful. She said the business was new and the units were new and clean. Given the fact I knew storage units were in high demand and low supply at the time, I jumped on opportunity and put down a deposit. I also found the business website to be very helpful and educational. I had my furniture and possessions in storage with Chimney Corners for 6 months, which was a lot longer than I expected I would need when I originally called. Regardless, the storage unit I rented was large, clean and I had no problems. There were a few times I needed to call and ask questions and the phone was answered almost every time and when it wasn't Deborah called me back right away. I felt like my furniture was safe and I very much appreciated the great customer service I received. I just moved all of my stuff out and if I needed to put things in storage again, I would happily do so here. Refreshingly easy and worry-free experience.
