Personable, Informative, Sincere, Experienced…read more An automobile accident in November 2015 found me in need of an experienced attorney. It had been 20+ years since I'd had an accident and the rules had certainly changed! Insurance, doctor visits, loss of work - everything is handled differently, and I was naïve about the process. Fortunately, I got a referral from a friend for legal help which led me to Attorney Christopher Weems' legal practice in Athens, GA. When I phoned Mr. Weems' office that afternoon, I was greeted by his friendly staff who invited me to come over right away. I was really an emotional mess from the accident and, though it seems small, this act alone offered me optimism. In my accident, the other driver hydroplaned in a rainstorm right into my vehicle traveling from the opposite direction. Tragically, that driver was killed in the accident. My first impression of Mr. Weems' is that he is open and genuine. Very personable with me and my family and obviously sincere. In the months to follow I would call Mr. Weems' office with questions and receive prompt responses and feedback. They kept me up to date on status of my case and let me know right away if something was needed of me. Mr. Weems' and his staff were very approachable, and I felt I could speak with him about anything - nothing was too small or insignificant. A sincere man who is passionate about his clients and their needs. Fortunately, my case didn't get that far, but I was also comforted to know that Mr. Weems' is an experienced trial lawyer and was prepared to protect me. Overall, my experience with Attorney Christopher Weems and his staff was very positive. A more-than-qualified attorney who is realistic and down to earth. He is frank and genuine and will do what it takes to educate and advocate for his clients. He will be my first call should I need another attorney! If anyone has any questions about working with Christopher Weems, leave a comment to my review and I'll get back to you.

Before sharing sensitive details, I directly asked the staff whether they had spoken with my wife or were representing her. I was told no. I relied on that answer and proceeded to disclose private and sensitive information about my divorce and circumstances. I later developed reason to believe there may have been prior contact or a potential conflict involving my wife. Had I been told that before discussing my case, I would never have disclosed anything. For a family-law firm dealing with highly confidential and adversarial matters, prospective clients need to be able to trust that conflicts are properly checked before they are encouraged to discuss sensitive information. I have retained documentation of my communications with the office and have submitted the matter to the appropriate professional authorities for review. Based strictly on my personal experience, I would not recommend this office.

I didn't know I had a different attorney until less than a week to go to court. The DA didn't even know. I never heard from the firm for almost a year's time! I called and left messages and finally was told by a receptionist that I hadn't heard from them because they hadn't heard anything from the courts. Never once was I told the original attorney Mr. Fitz had left the firm! Lies! Then out of the blue I'm told about my court date and I have a new lawyer who had no knowledge of my case and no consultation with her at all until we were in court! I'm done with this and trust it affects more than a vacation and the fact that that's your response is laughable! God knows I was never once told Mr. Fitz was gone prior to a few days before court as I never heard from your firm for almost a year except the invoices sent in the mail! If you were told otherwise then ask who told me and when was it relayed to me? I knew nothing or anything about a new lawyer representing me. Days after she got the discovery which she didn't have prior to my court date, my attorney told me I should plea and nothing concerning the events that led up to the alleged threat mattered because the video would be my word versus the officer's! She was ready to just get on with her life and pregnancy! Period! I even told her the day of before the plea that I was innocent and didn't threaten the guy but she said it looked like it on the video no matter what was actually said and the officer's perception would be heavily influencing to a jury! Goodbye and thanks for your time but you and I both know the lack of attention given to me as a client!

I wish everyone was such a delight to speak to, especially at a lawyer's office. I don't what happened to Riley, but he is not here... It seems that there used to be a few attorneys that worked together and now they decided to branch out on their own. Nothing wrong about that! Anyways, after calling and talking to about a dozen attorney offices and multiple appointments later, I stumbled upon Steve. After talking to Melanie she cleared some of my questions and made me a FREE face to face consultation with Mr. Emert after a few days. Which was perfect, because several of the offices I called told me they didn't have appointments for more than a week. They gave me some forms to fill out for information before our scheduled meeting and it wasn't too much work to fill them out and it helped us when we did finally get to speak face-to-face. We submitted them thru email the day before the meeting which gave me ample time to prepare and we all went into the meeting knowing what we wanted instead of having to guess. We wanted a special type of trust and needed a experienced lawyer to file it for us. Mr. Emert gave us several different suggestions and gave us multiple options to accomplish what we wanted. Each option was priced different and we were able to know up front how much it would cost. We were able to break up the payments into smaller affordable amounts. Mr. Emert is very skilled and seems very educated and knowledgeable in the field that he works in and he made everything a lot easier than I had expected. I recommend using this office for your family planning needs for estates, wills and trusts!
