nice to meat you! a…read morerare journey out of sydney's city centre in search of the lululemon outlet led me to chance upon alexandria and what this area has to offer! a paradise for meat lovers awaits! the entrance is via the f&b section and a turn to your right will be where bright coloured, free to wear, winter jackets hang. this can only mean it's going to be cold within, past the solid black sliding door! i opted not to and would not recommend you follow me if you are not in the least bit liking the cold. it's a great reason to celebrate the cold within as you know for sure the meats that you buy here will be nicely chilled! like a kid in a candy store feeling, warms you. where do i begin? fear not as the previously sentient beings are well organized, classified and displayed for your easy selection. from regular everyday beef to japanese wagyu, goat to lamb, venison, veal, roo, free range chicken and ducks, angus or aged, all abound. the best for me and travellers alike have to be that most meats on display are all nicely vacuum packed, just grab and go! you can also take in the freshly butchered canvas of meats hanging beyond and in the background as proof of the pudding. Or envy the huge aging box encompassing even more choice cuts! and when the cold bites and/or the basket fills, exit the cold room for other non chilled products! hoofs, hearts, liver, pet mince, tongue? the frozen section will amaze! they also have cheeses, cured meats, sauces and other produce. as for the meats you buy, a full range of bbq paraphernalia will get you ready immediately for a cook off! once ready to check out, the quick moving line will get you out the door in no time. just grab cardboard boxes, if you need, for your bountiful loot and don't forget to return that jacket you took when you entered! it was definitely nice to meat you!

(Me trying to be funny) I reckon if there is a cut of meat that exists they have it or will know about it. This place is huge, very well kept, spotless, brilliantly organized and most important of all...does not smell!! When you get here, the entrance is something else...literally like walking into a giant Meat Locker! They have jackets for you at the front to keep you warm while you struggle to choose your cut of meat from the enormous selection...Brilliant! Then there is the selection...again just amazing, memorizing, so much to choose from! So are the prices... High quality meat at affordable prices! The Australian Meat Emporium truly feels like a wholesaler that is open to the public, not just one of those catchy or quirky gimmicks. Just like their website states: "Australian Meat Emporium says is a retail outlet selling the finest Bindaree Beef products directly to the public at affordable prices". I'm just not sure what Bindaree Beef is...guessing something good? They also work "very closely with producers of other species of meat such as Cowra Lamb, Arcadian Organic Meat, Rangers Valley and B.E Campbell's Bruemar Pork." Australian Meat Emporium used to be called Establishment 218...just in case your were wondering

Whether you are looking for a chicken and corn, or a more traditional lamb or beef sausages, this place should be your first port of call. Though don't stop with a simple sausage... you must try the Moroccan. The sultanas make it simply awesome. Often I will go in here and order 2-3 of each variety just so I can try them all out. Just be careful when cooking them as often the different varieties have a variety of thicknesses...

I guess ACA isn't all about dodgy tradies and dead beat dads after all. When I told the butcher I was looking to try a few of the sausages, suggestions started coming in from customers as well. I walked out with 5 different types (sang choy bao, Texan, spicy Italian, pork and truffle, and smoky maple). I'm still looking for Australia's best bacon, so I grabbed some of that as well. Overall, really good sausages. Pork truffle and Italian were my favourites. The sang choy bao tasted exactly like a sang choy bao. I'll leave it to you to decide whether that should be a flavour enjoyed in sausage form. A word of warning though: the ACA nutritionist mentioned that sausages aren't an every day food and having more than 2 a day increases your chance of bad things by a milionty percentage points. Or something like that. I was too busy drooling over TCB's sausages to really pay attention at that point.

It actually brings a smile to my face when I see them laughing and having a good time on the job. They can speak Chinese, Mandarin and English too! They have the freshest meat here. Not only are you practically guaranteed tender, soft rump steak everytime or brilliantly tasty eye fillet or even the fattiest of fat pork bellies, this is the place to go if you're looking for anything red. More over, they are ridiculously cheap! Buying more than 2kg of a specific thing will give you an extra discount too! Can I hear you say "What a bargain!" So the next time you need to visit a butcher, come here! I guarantee you satisfaction!

Surprised at the low prices for the and was a little suss.. the staff and most customers were Chinese but they spoke English so was fine. Then I noticed the lamb was from Cowra (a place known for quality lamb) so I started picking a few things. T bones steaks, yes. Lamb leg and cutlets.. yes. Brisket, yes. Beef tendon- sure why not (needs further explanation - next time..). Scotch fillet, yes. What about pork scotch, why not? Pork roast, yes add it on. When I said it might be too much to carry, she offered help to carry to the car and convinced me to buy some chicken wings and breast fillets. So, from having a quick look to $280. But still great value. And they did get a dude from the back to help carry to the car. The biggest challenge was fitting it in the freezer when I got home. Definitely worth checking out for great value, quality and variety. Oh, they threw in some sausages for free and we're very unusual. First tine I had 'Chinese flavoured' sausages.

Its a network of 48…read morecolleagues on a contact list who have lost interest in working and develped an interest, in some cases compelling, in drinking. I ignore it and put my phone on silent knowing that one of my Friday evening jobs will be to delete 48 e-mails. But I have to be careful, somewhere in there will be an e-mail from my butcher with the weekend specials. Not just any specials either, Allan has his own farm and his meat is spectacularly good. Aged for a long time, it is simply the best butchery on the upper north shore. Last weeks special - boned legs of new season lamb $25 each. Allan is banned from the MLA because he makes too much sense - that means he has to talk to his customers and he does it with aplombe. He is the heart and soul, liver, kidneys, tongue and cheeks of this place. Allan gets "Love a Chat" to woman the BBQ out the front. She is the star of the show. Told Keeno and I the other day that she had taken her labradoodle to the vet only to learn that he was mostly Lab - but no doodle. She reckons the pet shop saw her coming, she wondered why he didn't look look like the others - they just snuck in a bitsa and hoped no one would notice. Too late now she concedes, he's part of the family. The whole time shes been chatting with Keeno I've been eating BBQ pork, Morroccan Snags, Sang Choy Bow snags, and whatever else she's got going on the hot plate and sampling all the different sauces. Its like a free lunch. Bangalow Pork, snags etc.. its all fantastic. I once bought a whole pig for the spit and drove it down to the farm stowed right next to Chloe (our dog) who went absolutely nuts the whole trip. You can get goat here but if your not quick Allan will tell you its name before he tells you how to cook it. (Slowly, very very very slowly) But really its the beef, standing rib roast, scotch fillet, sirloin on the bone, rump, and T bones. It is a joy knowing the cattle is grass fed and farmed by the guy talking to you, if you can break away from Love a Chat that is.
