After hearing a few people rave about the place and reading some of the reviews I ventured in for a spot of Saturday lunch. It was fairly busy without being manic, we were seated quickly and our waitress explained the concept. (It's pretty rudimentary: Get a plate, help yourself, repeat ad nauseum) I found the food to be variable, some of the dishes were on par with what I would expect from a takeaway specialising in that particular type of cuisine whereas others tasted either bland or just plain bizarre compared with my expectation. The food containers seemed to be getting restocked fairly frequently and only one of the dishes I tried seemed like it may have been sitting on the hot plate a little too long. The selection was fairly average for this type of place. It's billed as Pan Asian, when I was there this translated to a selection of chinese and indian dishes with a couple of mexican offerings along with chips, pizza, onion rings and all that jazz. Desserts looked like some kind of diabetic coma inducing sugarfest which I chose to ignore, plenty of cake, jelly and ice cream to whet your appetite. All told the place is OK, but only OK. If I were nearby I would grab a bite to eat here over a fast food joint but if you want a decent sit down eating experience there are plenty of better options open to you within walking distance. Cost us about £12/head for lunch buffet and bottomless soft drink.

Buffet V is an entirely vegetarian Chinese buffet. I'm a big fan of any vegetarian restaurants, but…read moreI've only come across a few Indian ones aside from the healthy/organic wholefood type, so I think a Chinese all-you-can- eat is a great idea. You can peak through the window at all the dishes to choose from in canteen style heaters and it really does look as good as it looks. All the veg is fresh and the dishes aren't soggy or stodgy like so many other Chinese buffets. Of course it's not posh nosh, but for a lunch where you feel like picking at a dozen different meals then it's worth a try. The spring rolls are lovely and crispy and they do nice spiced aubergine slices in a tangy sauce. You can get veggie 'chicken' and 'duck' dishes, and these are basically just tofu pieces flavored with soya and spices, not meat substitutes like soya or Quorn.

Out looking for dinner late on a Friday evening, my friend M. and I were enticed by the "£6.50 all…read moreyou can eat" sign in Buffet V's window. Peeking through the glass, we saw a great variety of what looked like yummy dishes, so we hurried inside to get our food on. We were shown to our table quickly, but the waiters and waitresses all looked angry and annoyed at the customers. And, after filling our plates with heaps of food (none of the dishes in the buffet were labeled, so I went for what looked good), we began eating one of the most disgusting meals I've ever had. A good amount of my rice wasn't even cooked, the noodles were pretty much just grease, and the tofu in every dish I tried was watery, tasteless, and gross. M. made some comments about what the meat substitute tasted like, but they aren't appropriate for repeating here. The only edible food on my plate were the pineapple chunks and the samosas. (For their credit, the samosas were pretty good.) The previous reviews make this place sound pretty good, so I'm wondering if I hit Buffet V on an off-night (a VERY off-night), or if the place has just gone downhill in the past year. Either way, though you can't beat £6.50 for an all-you-can-eat buffet, I definitely felt a little ripped off. This is one restaurant I'll be staying far away from on future trips to London.

The food itself is fine, nothing "great" or authentic by any means, but it's better than other similar asian food buffet I've tried in the USA. Price seemed very reasonable, especially because this is an all you can eat establishment. The service was great. They kept the dishes all hot and well stocked and clear your old plates very quickly. If you are looking for something a bit different to try when staying in Swindon, I'd definitely recommend JRC Global Buffet. I thought the selection was very nice. They have lots of offers from all over Asia and each "country" has it's own station with various selections. There is also a grill station where you can order various meats to be grilled to your desire. None of the food was spectacular, but it was all pretty good and what I'd expect from a buffet. As a word of caution, they do not offer many dishes outside of the "Asian realm" so if you don't like that kind of food then you'd be better off elsewhere. Aside from various potato dishes, some fried items (chicken, onion rings, friend shrimp), and the grill station, most of the food is Asian. They also have a very nice dessert area with ice cream, sweets, and a chocolate fountain. Service was great for this style of restaraunt. They don't bring anything to your table for you (not even the water which you need to pick up from the bar), but they clear plates quickly.

In desperation, I broke all the rules and decided to eat at my hotel. Who woulda thunk it? Good hotel food with faultless service in a lovely restaurant overlooking the River Thames and, even better yet, at a great price, twenty quid for a three course meal! OK, it's served buffet style, which was a bit odd for a restaurant of this quality but that just means unlimited food, right? Yep, it's eat as much as you like. So, I did. The chef's modern take on meze/tapas style Mediterranean appetizers was an absolute triumph. The traditional English dishes were, admittedly, a bit dried from the lamps but the pheasant wrapped in pancetta was still delicious and the panettone bread and butter pudding was good to the very last spoonful (my apologies to the other diners who were hoping they would get some too). And, did I mention it was only twenty quid. Top stuff!

What is not immediately obvious is that it is an all you can eat buffet and nowhere that you can see inside is the price which is £17 a head on Fridays and Saturdays. What of the food well I had the pizza and garlic bread which had dried out under the heat lamp and was virtually tasteless, I also had a burger which was of very poor quality. When we left the restaurant I looked for the price which was displayed but was written in dark red on a black background which would indicate to me that the owners are simply trying to make as much money as they can in the short term as I cannot see them getting any repeat business and would not expect it to be there in six months time, in the meantime avoid.

It could definately do with a spruce up! There is masses of choice on the hot plate and the staff do try and keep it filled up. The food itself is ok (if you like lots of MSG) but nothing special as there are far better Chinese/Thai/Indian (or whatever they decide they are) restaurants around. The only plus here for many people is the fact that you can fill your face for a set price. Great for fatties, ok for the average diner. The staff are very friendly and will try to accommodate you, whether in a small or large party, as best they can. My main issue with this establishment is the cleanliness. Local Authority EHOs have threatened to close this place down on many occassions due to its very poor hygiene standards and the continued rodent problems from which it suffers. Personnally I would avoid this place as there are far better oriental cuisine restaurants (which are far more hygeinic) to chose from in the local area and if you want an all you can eat oriental restaurant then visit Camberley because they have an excellent one!

It is a mixture of Nepalese and Chinese dishes. The staff are very friendly and the food is really good! We've been there a couple of times and have always left the restaurant quite fulfilled and extremely satisfied. The price was worth it and the food was delicious. It's a really good place for dinner/lunch especially if there is a big group of you . I have been there a few times and I will be going again. If you go there, I thoroughly recommend the char siu pork and the Singapore noodles. The duck with pancakes is a must try. The prawn stir fry along with the mussels in black bean sauce is just one of the many dishes that is not to be missed. It may be lacking when it comes to dessert but all the other dishes, more than make up for it. Oh by the way, make sure that you don't eat anything prior to going as you'll only waste your money by getting full too quick. Try it out! You can thank me later
