We called Derrick (the owner) and he came right over and diagnosed the problem and solution. We had to drain our pool. Once we filled it back up we struggled with the chlorine not taking. Fast forward to today, I reached out because some guy came to service our pool (only knew because I'm home with a sick kid). The owner called me and said we'd been receiving service the whole time (news to us) and he'd like to start over. Then he made it clear he only meets clients before 3 pm through the week, and that it seemed like this wouldn't work. With all of the issues created by lack of communication on the businesses part, all we wanted was to meet face to face for a few minutes to set things up right. At that point, it was clear he didn't want our business. I'm shocked by all of this because the company gets great reviews, but they definitely aren't hurting for clients and their customer service is lackluster at best. We felt like just a number on a page from day 1. Definitely don't recommend this company. It's expensive compared to others and not worth the money based on what we experienced. We ended up having to do all kinds of service and troubleshooting in our own because the tech wasn't doing their job apparently anyways.

Before finding Tom, I had gone through four different pool-cleaning companies, and unfortunately, it seemed like none of them truly knew what they were doing. My saltwater pool never felt as clean or balanced as it had when it was first installed. After performing his own tests, Tom confirmed that several important issues had been overlooked. Within a few months--just in time for summer--Tom had the pool back in excellent condition. He balanced all the chemicals, got the saltwater system back on track, and made the pool feel brand new again. His professionalism, knowledge, and attention to detail have been impressive from start to finish. Unreliable and Unacceptable Service from Day One…read more I started using Tropical Pools 5 weeks ago, and unfortunately, every single week, despite my recurrent feedback via email, text, and call, brought a new issue. Here's the timeline: Week 1: The skimmer basket was left full, and the tile and walls were not brushed -- basic maintenance that should've been done from day one. Week 2: I found a brownish residue on the walls, which appeared to result from either chemical shock reactions or tool oxidation. Weeks 3-4: The service report showed 0 ppm chlorine, and no chlorine was added. This happened more than once, even though I reported it. Week 5 (Final Straw): I found greenish-brown algae developing on the walls while swimming. It brushed off easily -- a clear indication of active algae, which should never occur under proper chemical maintenance. I reached out multiple times -- by email, phone, and text -- clearly documenting the issues and asking for improvement. Issues continue every week. I just decided to terminate the service. I hired a professional service so I wouldn't have to worry about the health or condition of the pool -- but with Tropical Pools, I've had to do more monitoring and follow-up than if I were maintaining it myself. I do not recommend this company. If you expect consistency, reliability, or even basic responsiveness, look elsewhere.

What I really appreciate is that he does much more than just add chemicals. He always checks that all of my pool equipment is working properly and lets me know if he notices anything that needs attention. One thing that really stood out was when he helped me replace my pool lights after realizing they were still under warranty. I had no idea, and he went out of his way to make sure I took advantage of it. Tony is knowledgeable, honest, reliable, and very good at what he does. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dependable pool service.

One thing in life, I don't like to feel scammed. My husband had to go away for work for some time,…read morebut he has always done our pool. Because he has his own pool business, we have the best equipment to make sure our pool looks great. Since he was away, I had to get someone to make sure the pool was clean and kept together. It got a little algae on the side, nothing that a little bit a chemicals could not take care, but I did not trust myself with the chemicals. I first used Tony's Ppol Services last week. They cleaned up the algae with chemicals, but later told me my brush and net did not work and that I needed new ones. First off, my husband who does pools professionally had no issues with our net and brush, and the past owner of my house who also did pools professionally, used the same equipment and had no issues with it, but Tony's Pools had an issue. Second week, I came home, and the pool wasn't netted, the sides weren't brushed, and there's stuff on my stairs now. To put it in prospective, I have a filter that looks like a little car that constantly drives on the bottom of my pool in the morning to pick up what drops in the pool, and a solar skimmer that constantly skims the top of my pool when the sun is up. The pool practically cleans itself, it just needs mostly chemicals, a quick brush on the sides and an emptying of the little car. I brought this to the attention of the owner, and he asked when my filters were cleaned, and I told him about 3 months ago. He said because of the algae, I needed my filters clean and he would put it on the "to do" list. Nice try, the filters may have needed cleaning if my pool was green, but one corner barely had algae. So two weeks into hiring them, I needed a net, a brush, and a filter clean. Look, Maybe you can scam other people who don't know pools, but I am hoping people will either think twice about hiring them or they will change their business practices. Fake niceness and frequent "friendly" texts may make people love this company, but I just wanted someone to do an honest job. I will do my own pool until I can find someone else.
