I just left a service today and I had a horrible experience. The woman over cut the side of my toe nail which then made my toe nail crocked. She did not fix it but yet blamed it on me. The toe nail polish was also not neatly painted. I will not be returning to this establishment due to the bad service. I came here to get my graduation nails done and they did not give me what i wanted. I have never had my nails done before so i was a little shy to say anything at the time but now that i have had time to process what had happened im just so angry. I walked in the nail salon looking to get my nails done and i had asked the lady in charge how much she would charge me for the set i wanted.. she had told me that it was going to be 110-130 for everything which to me seems kinda pricey already but maybe that's cause it was my first time getting a set done but i understood that it takes alot of time and effort to do nails so i didn't say much but at the end i ended up not having the best experience for my first time getting nails. When the man that was attending me was doing my nails it hurt because he was filing down my skin as he was filing down my nail and im no expert but i dont think he was supposed to do that.. When it was time to get my nail design done he had then told me that they were charching 20 for eat individual flower made and 10 for each french tip WHICH WAS NOT GOING TO BE ADDED TO THE TOTAL THE LADY IN CHARGE HAD TOLD ME UNTIL THE END so we're talking about $100 more?! like what. before so they lacked some communication on their part which really sucked so instead of the 3D flower i had asked the man the draw a hibiscus flower instead and he had said that he'd charge me $5 each finger so i agreed and that's what he gave me in the 2nd picture... NOW i know damn well that is NOT what i asked for plus since he told me $5 each finger he literally put my middle and my ring finger together so he could paint on both LOL i was so embarrassed because hes just stealing money from me at that point so i was pretty mad and bummed out already but i brushed it off cause i had thought that he was going to fix it after i had told him that the design he made was not what i wanted but he didn't ( i was shy at the time sadly ) and he ended up not doing the french tips cause he said they were difficult and took up lots of time. THEN after the service he had asked if i wanted to get my cuticles done and cut for ANOTHER $10+ which AGAIN i am no expert but im sure youre supposed to do that in the beginning..right? PLEASE save your money and think before coming here.. theyre literally just stealing your money cause at the end of the day i still paid 100 for terrible service and poor communication skills even after telling them i didnt like what had happened. read more

I have visited this shop a few times and my experience was much better. Yesterday was different. After I placed my feet inside of the pedicure bowl, the plastic protector was removed. I asked why and the manicurist appeared to be confused. I asked again and she informed me that the pedicure bowl protector had ripped. It was not replaced. I will not return again as I was a bit troubled by my experience. I should have requested that the water be drained and the plastic be added back since we were at the beginning the service. I asked for a design on two of my fingers. When the stylist did not do a good job, I asked for it to be removed. She was quit the entire time until she removed the design. PLEASE READ: If I could rate no stars I would. The owner and her husband Tony are RUDE, DISMISSIVE, and UNPROFESSIONAL . My mother has been going here for a while now and I thought I'd try it out cause she was so pleased with her nails. I've only been there twice, my second and final visit was the most uncomfortable and embarrassing experience I've ever had getting my nails done. Last time I went I got a French manicure, as Tony was doing my nails I noticed the side of ONE finger wasn't fully painted so I politely asked him to fix it. His response was pure frustration, he said loudly "I don't understand why you're being so picky, next time I won't do this for you, I'll do something else." Now all eyes are on me in the salon and I'm in shock b/c I've never experienced such hostility, and at a SPA at that. So I politely respond and said, I'm not trying to be picky but if I'm paying for a service I'd like to get my monies worth. His wife, the lady at the front; witnessed the whole thing and never stepped in. They just proceeded to talk about me in their native language to each other. I stopped going there. But fast forward to a few days ago my mom went back and got her nails done. She mentioned to the wife about my experience and how she was surprised since she's had pleasant experiences with Tony. The wife then proceeded to tell her that "if my husband said she was being too picky then she was being too picky, it was her and not him" and then proceeded to say that "if she isn't happy, she should go somewhere else cause we are very busy and already have enough clientele." Basically I should just go somewhere else because mine or my mothers business isn't that important. She must've mentioned to Tony what her and my mom spoke about cause he painted her nails like a toddler would. Overall the place and the people are trashy. I just moved here so I decided just to try this place out. Unlike many other reviews, I found the service to be very good. My technician was very sweet and thorough. When she talked to the other technician she made a point to tell me what they were talking about. I thought it was nice to get a neck massage while my toes were drying. They were quiet but I found it to be relaxing and very clean. My nails were BAD after moving and they took their time to make them look nice again. I found the pricing to be comparable to other salons I have been to. $32 for a fill with gel polish and $35 for a pedicure. I will definitely go back. After going to this place for two years i had to stop. My nails got infected because they kept lifting which caused water to set in my nails. This started happening after they hired two new employees. My nails were so gross. I will never go back there. The female owner is rude and blames the customers for everything. One day prior to putting the polish on she did not wipe off the dust from filing, so when she painted my nails they had specks in them. Great experience here. Very clean, professional, and the staff are experienced. The salon is large, with good airflow, and thoughtful screening. Trish was my nail specialist. She didn't rush, and genuinely focused on quality. (My first time doing ombré nails/dipping). The effect was lovely, and not too thick (evidence of a rush job). She was also very gracious with my elder mother, who came in by and sat with me, after having been at the grocery store. What a lovely way to spend some time on a Sunday afternoon. I went home and changed it immediately because of how awful it was. He did not even get close to what I asked for and it was literally only a brown french tips. I am not sure of names but there were two very kind women who did my boyfriend, and my other friends manicured and they had no complaints. If you are planning to get anything I strongly encourage you to refuse the guy unless you want to be incredibly overcharged for garbage and sloppy work. Go to Diva Nails! I usually go to Diva Nails across the street and they were booked I couldn't wait the next day so I decided to go to Dunkirk Nail and Day Spa. BAD DECISION. The manager at the first station serviced me. Not once did she quote prices I told her I wanted narrow nails/ acrylic. After she put the tips on my nails her client came in and I was pushed to another nail tech. This guy began putting the acrylic powder on it looked uneven and he didn't buff it much after applying the powder. I told him I wanted them narrow I had to keep asking to make them more narrow. And I asked him twice to cut them down. Then it's time to put on the polish; the nail color I picked looked a lot darker when he put it on versus what was on the swAtch. I ended up changing colors 3 times due to that. Checking out I was charged $70 for a soak off that I didn't think was necessary but the lady insisted. I got a full acrylic/ gel set with no design. I asked why it was 70 he said they charge $10 for long nails and extra for nail shape. I've never heard of a nail salon charging extra for nail shape. So I paid it and the next day I went back to the salon to get them fixed because if I'm going to pay $70 I need to be satisfied and they need to look perfect! I walked in the next day and spoke to the same guy that did my nails I showed him the uneven nail shapes. I showed him the bubbles from the gel paint and he told me to come back in an hour. Within an hour of me waiting to go back, one of the nails broke...After just getting them done yesterday...I go back to the nail salon after waiting an hour and the lady from the day before told me to come back the next day at 7:30 pm and she would fix my nails and not the guy. I went for a gel manicure w/ Trish...i picked a glitter polish because that is what i like...i have had this polish before and it came out really nice but i did it at home...Trish tells me the color i picked isn't good but i explained that is what i wanted...she literally soaked my nails in water, did a poor cuticle job and then proceeded to polish my nails...my first question was, is that it for my manicure?!? She tells me yes and proceeds to polish my nails like she 5 years old! It was a mess...I told her to take the color off.. at this point i am very upset w her...i expressed my disappointment to management and they said and did nothing! THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS. Well, I actually hate my nails. It's been 3 days since I've got them done and the acrylic is LIFTING! I got French tips done using acrylic and was so disappointed. The application sucked. My nails are thin, lumpy, and the apex had NO build. Smh the smile line is messy and my nails had black specs on them. I have never disliked my nails like this before. I refuse to keep these for a week. Now I am going to have to go to a different nail salon to get the redone. I also got my brows done. My brows were decent enough (only because I can fix it myself) but they were waxed unevenly. The quality DOES NOT match the prices and I was pissed. I have mixed feelings about this Nail salon. My first visit here was by a recommendation by my boyfriend. We both went and got fantastic pedicures and selected a more expensive option. I came back a few weeks later for another pedicure and a full set of dip powder nails. Again, no issues and I was a happy customer. I even had my nails and feet done at the same time to eliminate having to be there for hours on end. I was impressed to say the least. Or so I thought. Most recently I went for a pedicure, and another full set of dip powder nails. This time, I opted for the basic, less expensive packages and I noticed a huge difference in how I was treated. First of all, never have I once been spoken to during any of my services, not even in the visits where I had a better experience. They giggle and speak in their native language the entire time your services are being done. I've also noticed a lot of them are wearing Bluetooth earpieces, so they could also potentially be on the phone the entire time. But no big deal. They barely used any of the included products for my pedicure- hardly any scrub, subpar leg and foot rub (the whole reason why I go) and they didn't use a top coat! I didn't notice until I left and got home as I was watching the tech, Rosa, do my nails... well- start them ‍. The paint job on my toes was okay at best but fixable at home. On to my $55 set of dip powder nails... let me begin by saying I have been getting my nails done with dip powder for close to 6 years, and my nails done with other reproduces for over 15 years. I know how it's supposed to last, wear etc. Rosa started my nails while in the pedicure chair. She added the tips and cut them to the specific length I wanted and then hands me the colors to choose from. I picked any color and I was moved to her station to finish my nails. She only applied the norms base layer and 2 layers of the color powder. My nails were completely see-through. When I said something about this, she states "it will look lighter than the sample. It's a natural color." Fine. Half way through the nail service she has me soak my nails in cold water to trim my cuticles. This should have been done prior to ever adding powder/sealant layer as it can potentially cause lifting. The service was completed by her adding a UV gel top coat... dip powder nails are supposed to be UV free and use their own high shine top coat that takes a few minutes to dry. I paid and left, not exactly thrilled with my nails. Two days later, they begin to snap off midway down my nails. I never have this issue. Ever. I call and she tells me to come in to have them fixed at no charge. Go, have it fixed and leave. Next day, it happens again. I call and speak to Rosa again and she has me come back, now a total of three times for my nails to have them "fixed". She adds another two layers to all my nails and tells me I'm too rough on my nails. I try to explain to her I'm not but she's not listening. My nails are now the color of the original sample nail I picked from so she clearly did not use enough product in the first place. I asked for a partial refund on the phone since I've been back so many times and she just ignored me. (30 minutes one way for me to get to the salon from home...) My nails are sloppy- powder and glue on my skin and cuticles. They're thick from not being properly applied. The entire nail isn't even covered, even after coming back 3 times! At $55 a set, this is unacceptable. I paid $15 more than my old salon (I recently moved and switched salons) and received a less than subpar service. Don't waste your time. read more

When they mean express mani/pedi, they mean express mani/pedi lol. I've gone to many nail places before & paid the same amount for better service & quality. They basically wet your feet/hands, put lotion then polish it. I could've done that myself of $40 (not including the tip). I've gone to places where they do a foot scrub with a stone & a quick massage for their basic mani/pedi. The bottom of my foot was stained from the plastic they use in the foot tub. My polish is already coming out and it hasn't even been 12hrs. I was just so disappointed and wanted to get out of there. The lady (didn't get her name) was nice but she just dipped her hand in a large jar to get the scrub and mask out for each foot while I was being serviced, instead of the sanitary method of using a scoop and putting it on a dish as I've seen at every place I've been to. My cuticle was cut and they charged an extra $25 for gel polish which is absurd (I expect an up charge but certainly not $25). I will be trying the other places in the area. read more

I would not recommend this place. I came in on a Sunday morning and was surprised to see they were open before 11, unlike most nail salons I've frequented which usually open after 11. My Technician, I believe his name is John, seemed easily distracted throughout the whole process, as he would stop anytime someone walked into the shop or by his workstation. I'm not sure if he is the manager, but his actions were a tad unprofessional with signs of paranoia. I was in need of a fill-in so I just brushed it off. My issues began as soon as dude pulled out his phone and would periodically stop to check his phone and text. So not only does he continue to stop and check out every customer, he is now on his cell phone. Don't get me wrong, I understand that we have become technology dependent, but I was willing to pay him a generous tip had he performed his job properly. I did not take a picture of my nails, but if you click on Jackie L's photo, that would be close to my own end result. In the end, despite his constant pausing and lackluster painting, this guy had the nerve to ask how much I wanted to tip. If he had done his job properly, it would have been $20. I was being generous tipping him $3. Although Dunkirk Nail and Spa may employ other skilled technicians, I, unfortunately, was not lucky enough to find out. read more

I will NO longer go to this place. I have been going to Dunkirk Nails for several years and recently have notice a drastic change in their customer service. The majority of the staff is standoffish or rude but John and his wife are exceptionally rude and disrespectful to the clientele. I recently observed her upset another customer to the point the customer receiving a pedicure told her "not to touch me" and moved out of her reach. John jumped in to try and assist while his wife laughed and made comments to him all while the customer was still sitting there. This woman was so uncomfortable and upset. Well this last time it was my turn, have no idea what I did, but John's wife got up from her station to get polish I requested. While she was up she must have said something to John at which point he got up to look and see who she was talking about. It was very obvious and awkward. The tech was professional and skilled and made me feel at ease. We talked about what I wanted and came up with a plan. I have been in this area for almost two years, Upper Marlboro specifically. I have been on the hunt for a new salon, decided to give this place a try. This would be my fourth place in the area, so I didn't have really high hopes. I arrived around 1030, they open at 10 and was instantly taken back to get my pedicure. I opted for a deluxe one, which is what I get any place I go. Helen was great, friendly made sure to ask if I was okay and even got the clues when I didn't want to talk anymore. She took her time and made sure that I was happy with my pedicure. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that, the up charge for gel polish is pricy. Everyone was very quiet, which I don't mind I'm not much of a talker. Walked me through the solar nails process, and was able to do pedicure, nails, and eyebrows in around an hour.
