With that said, I feel very lucky to have this place right next to me. I have a great donut place that doesn't leave me missing all the options I left behind. I found this place early on, and it quickly became cemented into our Saturday morning routine. If I weren't such a shut in, this would easily be my go to place to hang out and relax with a donut and a latte. Super welcoming place you'd be happy to sit down in. These are top tier donuts I'd compare to any other revered place you've been to. I don't normally go for headlights, but here they're my first choice because the frosting is perfect. Even the simple donuts are a straight up euphoric experience. They don't do food outside of donuts and sometimes some other baked goods. Then they have a full coffee/espresso menu. This past summer they started using the location for the Afternoon Scoop, where they're not afraid to combine these donuts with soft serve or Perry's ice cream. And huge bonus points to them for staying open through the winter. It definitely gets expensive coming here. I may just be out of touch with normal prices, but it feels kind of high here, with donuts starting at $2.00 a piece. The only other drawback is that they can sell out any time. Some mornings I show up at 10:00 and there's almost nothing left. If anything, it speaks to the quality of the product, and you can always get around it by showing up early.

Well here we are a place we can go grab a half dozen donuts and coffee and head to work. Anyone that knows that making donuts is both an art and a passion. Not to borrow from the other aforementioned but there is a reason for the image of "it's time to make the donuts" and early rising of the donut man. The same is true today. It takes dedication and attention to deal. Here the proof is in the first bite. Here I think there is something for everyone from the more standard donut to the more premium. I was delighted when I found they have pistachio flavor for your latte. I've been asking around for the past two years when I first had a pistachio latte in the Adirondacks of all places. Again, it was a nice diverge from the normal and the everyday. I give the new owners and staff props for braving this new economy and hope they continue with what they have going.

I finally got to try a 140 layer donut at Holey Confections!! Picked up the S'mores Please donut…read more($5.85) and while it was good, I found the price tag a bit hefty. The layers look really cool. It's more of a cronut. The donut/cronut I got wasn't cream filled, it just had a chocolate glaze with graham cracker dust sprinkled on top and a marshmallow cut in half on the top drizzled with caramel. I would have liked it more if there was a generous dollop of marshmallow fluff on top or something like that. It didn't taste particularly S'mores-like to me. I'm glad I tried it, but it's a bit too spendy for me personally. However, if you have the funds and like cronuts, I would recommend Holey Confections. Staff were friendly and efficient. The donut shop is co-located with Honey Cafe. There is seating inside and a few picnic tables out front. There are 2 parking spots in front of the shop/cafe where you can park for free in their private lot. I was lucky to snag one, but if they are occupied, it's street parking only.

The donut was so fresh and incredibly yummy. I have no idea what was used to make the circle logo on the donut but it was so soft and creamy. It made me think of the inside of a marshmallow, minus being sticky. The woman I walked out of the Gala with did not want her donut (to my benefit). So I was able to eat one on my drive home last night and split the second one in half for my children who happily devoured it this morning. My oldest even mentioned how great it was without prompting. Any local business that supports CHEO is always something I want to support. Definitely recommend Maverick's and will be stopping by their shop with the family this weekend to indulge.

It had multiple layers, but they weren't fluffy and moist like at the Orleans location. The ironic thing is that at the Stittsville location, I bought it mid-day and paid full price. The cronuts I had at the Orleans location were part of the end of day sale, yet they tasted fresher than the ones in Stittsville. So my brother heard that the Orleans location had an end of day sale where after 4:30pm they sell off the remainder of their cronuts for $25 a half dozen. The donuts are $5.80 each regularly. When he arrived at 4:30pm he found out the sale actually starts at 4pm, but it was ok because they still had donuts left. He got a PB&J (Peanut butter and jelly), Raspberry Lemon, Cinnamon Sugar (they call it Sinnerman), Sprinkles, PS no L (Pumpkin Spice no Latte) and Vanilla (they call it Anastasia, which I initially thought was strange, but I think it might be a reference to 50 Shades of Grey, which I never read nor watched but have heard more than enough about it from my friends, lol). The PB&J, Raspberry Lemon and PS no L are all cream filled. The other ones don't have any filling. I had a quarter of each of the filled ones and they were fantastic. My favourite was the Raspberry Lemon one. I loved the tart lemon curd filling. I didn't try the non-filled ones. Cronuts are part croissant and part donut and all delicious, lol. I definitely recommend this Orleans location of Holey Confections. We picked up some hot apple cider and various treats. I really love that they sell peanut butter fudge which is my favorite. We also picked up some chocolate fudge and a few other things. If you walk around to the back you can enjoy the beautiful waterfall. Watch your step if there is ice on the walkway. These photos are from our first visit two years ago. This is definitely a spot to visit if you are in Watertown, New York.

Although, they are connected directly with Mountain Mart, so if you were looking for a quieter place to eat in, DD on Maple st. is not typically very quiet. They still just stroll around taking their time and talking and laughing with each other.
