I've been wanting to check out more local coffee shops around the 60617 area, and since there…read morearen't a ton of options, I did a little Googling and found Pullman Club Coffee Shop. It was about an 18-minute drive for me and definitely worth checking out.
The coffee shop is located in Chicago's historic Pullman neighborhood, inside a beautiful historic home. If you enjoy history, architecture, old homes, or places with a little character and a story behind them, you'll appreciate the setting before you even order anything.
There is a small parking lot that fits about four cars. I was able to get a spot, but if it's full, you'll probably need to use street parking, which looked fairly easy to find. I also noticed accessibility accommodations for guests using wheelchairs.
The actual coffee shop is tucked toward the back of the house. I was greeted by a very friendly server who asked if I was there for the neighborhood tour. I wasn't, but apparently they offer tours on Sundays. There was a small group gathering for one while I was there, and now I definitely want to come back and do the tour before winter really settles in.
Now, despite this being a coffee shop, I'm a TEA GIRL. Coffee and I are cool, but tea has my heart. I ordered a chai latte with oat milk, along with a cranberry muffin. They didn't have almond milk, which is what I normally prefer, but the oat milk worked just fine.
While I waited, I walked around the house looking at the photographs and reading about the history of the home and neighborhood. That made the experience feel like more than just stopping somewhere for a drink.
My chai latte was really good, flavorful and not overly sweet. Since I'm a sugar girl, I'd probably add just a little extra sweetener next time, but that's personal preference. The cranberry muffin was delicious, soft and moist. Next time I'd ask to have it warmed up, but it was still very good as served.
Service was friendly, my order came out pretty quickly, and they accept both cash and card/tap payments.
Overall, 5/5 for me. I'd absolutely come back. Next time I want to try something different from the menu and hopefully take the neighborhood tour too.
Even if you don't live in Pullman, this is one of those little neighborhood spots worth venturing over to. Grab a drink, enjoy the historic surroundings, and take a little time to explore.
