A fun place for families. Food was delicious. My husband had the Steak & Fries I had the caramelized onion Burger, which I believe the cook brought right out to us. The fries were nice and hot. The steak was cooked perfectly my burger could have been cooked a bit longer to prevent so much of the meat juices from dripping. The waitstaff could be more inviting when you come into the restaurant. The first attempt to eat here the waitress apologized and said it would be a 40 minute wait as a trove of people arrived between 5 - 5:30 pm when we arrived. We told her we'd come back another time. Two days later we arrived around 4:30 ish, and the young lady from way behind the counter, without saying hello or welcome, pointed us to a table. Our assigned waitress was pleasant but we had to flag her down twice for more beverages, it wasn't really busy yet and three wait staff were talking amongst each other. In any case if you don't mind this type behavior this place will suit you, but if you're a large group it may be somewhat challenging to be waited on with a professional attitude. We stayed a week in lovely Brighton and the restaurant was across the street but we didn't bother trying this place for a third time.

Being a huge fan of JB's American Diner in Brighton, I was somewhat hesitant to see if this diner…read morewas any better... A few people had said it was good (though they've never been to JB's so now I understand why: they had nothing to compare it to) so I went with a friend who'd said this. I am going to catagorise everything and review. Interior/atmosphere: -the decorations are pretty awesome! Lots of superhero statues and film stuff all around (both things I love!) -three different films on show on different screens (though no sound, it was still cool) -the music is good old rock -nice seats and the tables were clean. So to begin with, this place was pretty good. Service/staff: -the staff were friendly -relatively good speed though it wasn't very busy so I'd hate to have been there on a super busy day! Drinks: -for £2.50 I had botomless fanta, which I think is great value -the prices are reasonable Food: Here begins the problem... -Sides are a good price (I got a large bowl of cheesy chips for £2.50) -Suprisingly, they offer quorn chicken in place of chicken meals which, as a veggie, was really awesome to see! -my main was £9.99...in my opinion, £9 over its worth... I ordered the vegetable chilli. When I make this, I use courgettes, peppers, onions, kidney beans and butter beans and a nice jar sauce. All-in-all, costing about £2 for a large bowlfull. Here, they used Uncle Ben's rice (which has a strange, distinctive flavour...though at least it wasn't really cheap rice, I guess...), peas, carrots, green beans, one other veg (not sure what) and a cheap jar sauce. I couldn't face more than five mouthfuls. It was horrible and probably cost £2 to make!. If I hadn't had the chips, and an English attitude (i.e. embarrassed to complain) I would've sent it straight back. When the girl collected the plates I gave feedback. She then brought a feedback card to complete and I got 10% off my chilli. To be honest, I wish I'd said straight away as I literally didn't want to pay anything for it. Overall: -the interior is nice -staff are quite friendly -far too expensive -food is rubbish My friend's burger (and the meat chilli she'd had before) are nice though, apparently so may be worth trying? I, however, will not be returning. JB's all the way!

I wanted something with at least one good veggie option, they wanted something with meat, and it had to be somewhere in-between Camden and Canary Wharf, not too pricey, and ideally close to the city because otherwise our Italian friend probably wouldn't make it. And lo and behold.... THE FAT BEAR!!! It was all we wanted and more! This place is sort of tucked away and up some stairs above a pub. It's really just a room and a half, which makes it super cozy and they have a pretty awesome looking bar. It's got warm lighting which makes the atmosphere really nice. Their cocktails were delightful and the service was excellent. I will make a very strange observation that someone working there had a very drunk friend who just sort of made herself at home. Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.
