    Saturday night after sunset

Check the tide report! This is important Not only for launching your vessel and your own safety, but also for parking your vehicle. Low tide is deceptive on how close you can be to the waters edge. If this is your first time, park your vehicle along the tree line if possible. Or ask a regular to the area. Parking is free. Be mindful of if you are parking in the motorized zone or non motorized areas. Jeep's tend to populate the causeway on Wednesday's in the evening. Usually a large party gathering on both sides of the causeway.

Beautiful causeway leading to a stunning state park. Wonderful place to fish, catch a sunset, hang out with friends, you can launch your rave runner or tie a cot to a couple palms. If you want to hit the beach it's just $8 to gain entrance to Honeymoon beach. Which is a great place to swim, collect shells and many many other things.

Jet skis, Dunedin Causeway Bridge Beach with views of Honeymoon Island & Caladesi Island

The Dunedin Causeway Beach offers pretty views of Honeymoon Island & Caladesi Island and is a good spot to launch jet skis, boats, kayaks. The Dunedin Causeway is a 2.5-mile route that leads from Bayshore Boulevard directly to the entrance of Honeymoon Island State Park. The Causeway is open for recreational activities from 5:00 am - 11:00 pm. The Causeway is lined on each side by water with vistas of St. Joseph Sound and plenty of free parking along the access areas that parallel the main roadway. It is a terrific destination for fishing, watercraft activities, and sunbathing. The area is also a popular venue for walking, jogging and bike riding as a spur of the Pinellas Trail runs along the entire length of the Causeway on the south-side of the road. Restroom facilities and a concession operation are located on the western portion of the Causeway, just before the second bridge. Sail Honeymoon, Inc is the permitted concessionaire and offers a great selection of sailboat and kayak rentals as well as food and beverage sales at the High & Dry Cafe open 10am-sunset. The Dunedin Causeway is a popular location to launch a variety of watercraft including motorized boats, jet skis, wave runners, sailboats and kayaks. Unfortunately, there are no paved ramps. The southern facing area is divided into four separate sections. No boat launching is permitted on the north side of the Causeway, west of the drawbridge. Non-motorized boats have two areas for launching: the portion east of the draw bridge and again from the concession area west to the second bridge. Motorized boats (including jet skis) can launch from a beach entry 200' area just west of the draw bridge (no boat ramp facilities). No watercraft are permitted in the center of the Causeway between the motorized and non-motorized launch areas. If you're looking to fish, jet ski, or kayak to Calaedesi island, I recommend you visit the Dunedin Causeway. The Dunedin Causeway Beach is not an ideal beach for swimming as there's some rocks, seaweed, not a lot of waves, and the sand is mushy and a bit muddy. If you're looking to swim, definitely go to the North Beach at Honeymoon Island State Park next door!

Dunedin causeway is a great place to hang out by the water. The water is calm enough to go out on a paddleboard and the sunsets are beautiful.

This is one of my favorite places to walk around to get some exercise. The sunsets are amazing and the views are great. There is a nice place in the middle to get a drink or bite to eat as well as rent kayaks. People bring their jet skis out here everyday. You can walk dogs on the trail just not on the beach. This is a must see if you live in the area.

Beautiful paved path to bike, walk, or other activities. You can park along the causeway and it's right next to the trail. I brought my bike and rode along the trail. There was a nice cool breeze from the water and it was great! Afterwards, I saw dolphins playing in the waves from boats! So fun!

Love the Dunedin causeway! So much to do! Walk the paved trail, ride your bike, rollerblade. Wanna relax? Bring a hammock and find a couple palm trees. Need a drink? Check out High & Dry. Wanna get out on the water? Rent a sailboat, kayak or SUP. You can park along either side and relax by your car or head all the way in to Honey Moon Island State park. Beautiful sunsets are my fave! Wednesday night is Jeep Night!

Had to take another shot of the Jeep on the Causeway. Dunedin causeway is a favorite spot of the Tampa Jeep Krewe and Pinellas Co Jeepers

Dunedin Causeway has become the goto spot for when I want to breathe in that fresh salt air, don't want to deal with crowded beaches, be able to park my jeep on the beach, cookout or otherwise just chill and watch the wonderful sunsets that take place here. We started going here almost 2 years ago before we moved to Tampa. Now it's almost once or twice a week. Something about pulling up to the side of the water, pulling out your lawn chairs and just sitting down to take any stress or care in the world out of the way. I'm sure you can get this from about any other beach, but the Dunedin Causeway always has something going on. Just enough activity to make it lively but not too crowded that you think a random seagull is going to dive bomb the food you're cooking out...although, be warned...seagulls like potato chips. We see so many types of wildlife out here it's awesome. Spoon Billed pink Egrets, fish jumping everywhere, Blue Heron, you name it and I've seen it. Absolutely love the place. You are also in close proximity to Honeymoon Island, you can launch a small boat or jetski here, or after you catch the sunset, you can be in downdown Dunedin to check out dinner or drink options in less than 5-10 minutes. Hope you come to check out this treasure of Dunedin and what it has to offer.

This is one of my favorite local beaches! There is something here for everyone! Are you looking to get your jog on? There's a big-ass sidewalk! Wanna rent some paddlesport equipment? Cruise over to Sail Honeymoon! Want to just relax and soak in the sun? Park on the north side of the causeway, it's usually a bit quieter over there. Yes there are rocks and sometimes and abundance of seaweed but slip on some water shoes and you'll hardly notice! I've been coming here a lot lately with my new kayak. Just a heads up, boat traffic is heavy on the weekends. If you want to play it safe, do your paddling during the week when things are a bit quieter.

Some of the best sunsets are just before or after a storm... every one brings it's own, personal display of color.

Ask the Community - Dunedin Causeway

Is this a good beach for laying out in the sand and going into the water? Or is it more of an inlet for boats?

People do lay out and go in the water, but much better for boats, kayaks, jet skis. People go to hang out and see the sunset.

Are you able to kayak from here to Caledesi Island?

Yes you can easily kayak to Caladesi Island from Dunedin Causeway in under 10 minutes.

    Are there strong waves?

It really depends on the winds, but overall I would say no. The northern side of the causeway is sheltered by Honeymoon Island State Park.

Are their any Restaurants on the beach?

There is a Drink Shack where you can get beer and shaved ice. As far as sit down restaurants, no. I agree with Greg J., I highly recommend Frenchy's Outpost or Eddie's.

How far is the walk from bridge to bridge?

The entire causeway is probably a mile and a half.... something like that. People walk, bike, rollerblade from end to end. Hopefully that answers your question?

Absolutely loved this island!…read more I have an annual pass for state parks so I didn't have to get into honeymoon island itself. A short drive to the paying booth for taking the ferry from honeymoon to caladesi. It is $20 dollars but they do take military discount too! The two guys on the boat are very funny guys. The captain loves to tell dad jokes and the other tells you fun facts about the islands. It's a short ride to caladesi. Once we arrived there was lots to explore however my friend and I just had a beach day. There is construction going on due to the past hurricanes but there is bathrooms, a cafe, and plenty of shade and trails! I can't wait to go back and explore more. The ferry takes off from honeymoon every hour and from caladesi every half hour. Highly recommend a day trip here!! Water is so nice.

We aren't major beach people, but I got really interested recently in finding shells. We were at Clearwater Beach and didn't see a lot of shells so I did research into where we could find an abundance of shells and this was one of the beaches that popped up. They have so many shells, but all the shells are very similar. They are the clamshell looking type. So if you're looking for a variety of shells, I would suggest going elsewhere. However, I was super excited to find all of these shells. We ended up getting buckets full of them. You pay eight dollars to get into honeymoon State Park. Then you follow the signs to the parking lot where it is $20 per adult and $12 per child, five and under are free, for the ferry ride. The ferry ride is a boat that is actually quite fun for the children. It's about 10 minutes and in the morning, you can see dolphins and the ferry will stop to look at them. They can fit about 45 to 50 people on each boat, and they do fill up. The first boat is at 10 AM and leaves every half hour after that. You can rent two beach chairs and an umbrella for $35 and they have food and drinks that you can buy on the island. Since you can't bring carts most people travel light so we didn't bring shade or seats. Being that our whole goal was to find shells we weren't sitting much anyways. It is pretty empty. This is not a packed beach at all and we were there on a Saturday in the summer so prime beach season. The sand is white and fine and the water is beautiful. If you're looking for a beach that isn't that crowded I would highly recommend coming here.

We saw more birds than people as I think most folks just go to the beach. This park includes three distinct environments... beach, freshwater marshes and forest all very close to each other, with easy-to-follow unmarked trails and clean public bathrooms. We walked and explored and enjoyed for several hours, seeing osprey with young chicks, a pileated woodpecker, herons, ducks, a variety of stunning warblers, a loggerhead shrike and more! We also saw a variety of native butterflies and plants/trees/flowers, so I contributed those identifications since that's more my area of expertise. I was thrilled to see, for the first time in my life, the elusive Blue-Winged Warbler! Score! While I didn't obtain a photo, the sighting was definite and confirmed by my friend / guide / birding expert! Initially I loved it here. Just think drive your car, park and beach right. So convenient. We have a ton of stuff to hang out by the beach. This place is way too crowded for a relaxing beach day. Big huge groups go here with RV's, pick up trucks, and tons of huge tents. It's a party spot. That could be your scene, if so props for you, and send me an invite. People also bring their kayaks and go kayak or jet ski here too. It's not relaxing. It's fast paced here. I love a chill beach with no people in hand's reach and definitely no cigarette smoke etc. So I'm done with this place. It is a $15 fee to park here. I highly doubt that's really strictly followed. We payed bc the parking attendant came by. The other thing to note is there are restrooms close by. There's also restrooms and showers available across the street at Sand Key. Enjoy your beach day however you prefer!!

None of my friends have heard of Abu Seba Beach and it's a great name to drop for the local who thinks they've done it all. Imagine my surprise when I did a search for beaches on Google maps and found this gem! If you want to impress a beach bum that's been to every beach in the Tampa Bay area, ask them if they've been to Clearwater Point Beach or Abu Seba Beach! Abu Seba Beach is located on Sand Key, across the street from Sand Key Park on the Intercoastal waterway next to the Clearwater Community Sailing Center and the Marriott Suites on Sand Key, which is South of Clearwater Beach. If you're on Gulf Boulevard, look for the Clearwater Community Sailing Center and turn in there. Keep going and you'll hit Abu Seba Beach! Officially, the sign says Clearwater Beach but the whole island of Sand Key is part of the city of Clearwater. The beach extends all the way to the Clearwater Pass Bridge which connects Sand Key Island to Clearwater Beach Island. Where the beach ends by the Clearwater Pass Bridge, there's lots of rocks and it looks really pretty! I'm not sure who named Abu Seba Beach but it's on Google maps, Yelp, Trip Advisor and Facebook so that's good enough for me. "Abu Seba" means "father of a drunkard" in Arabic according to Google so that seems like a suitable name for a party beach. Cars can pull directly on the beach and park without walking 20 yards to get to the beach. Aside from being able to drop the name of this secret beach that you can impress your friends with and having a cool spot to take pictures of your car on the beach on the east coast, the big draw back to this beach is that it's on the Intercoastal and the water is not as blue or clear as on Sand Key Beach across the street. The 2nd draw back to this beach is that parking is $15 for the whole day while it is 1/3rd the price at $5 for the whole day across the street with bluer waters and showers at Sand Key Park and completely free to park at Bay Park on Sand Key. The third draw back to this beach is that there are no showers. A pet peave of mine is driving w sandy feet. If you are really acrobatic or flexible or tall, you can actually wash your feet off in the beach's bathroom sink if you can get your feet to reach. A 4th drawback is no big waves. Not everyone is into big waves but I think they're fun and so do kids! No launching of motorized watercrafts are allowed at this beach and no dogs are allowed at this beach. I imagine this sort of beach is what those beach Jeeps with no doors are made for. If you like hanging in the trunk of your SUV or truck, this beach may be the perfect beach for you!
