So why am I giving it a sincere four stars? Because the proprietor, Colt (CJ), has focused his efforts and investments on the right things: well-tuned ATVs and terrific customer service. Our family of total beginners rented 4 ATVs. CJ and his daughter were both working, and were as friendly as can be. Another family came in to rent, but CJ knew they wouldn't be able to park their RV trailer at the staging area due to the congestion from DuneFest; so instead of taking their money and making them deal with the inconvenience, he offered them a discount to come back tomorrow when he could find them a parking spot. For our family, it was a quick paperwork session, then a 5-minute drive over to the ATV staging area next to the dunes in Winchester Bay. We easily found a spot to park our car, and CJ walked us through how to shift, how to brake, and how to start the ATV if it stalled. We had a great time zooming around the dunes for a solid hour. The four-wheelers were in great shape and easy to ride. A solid fun family activity with our two daughters (age 14 and 16). CJ met us at the parking lot with a smile and gratitude for supporting his labor of love. I'm sure he and his daughter will continue to improve the storefront, which is why I'm leaving room for one more star! Otherwise it was a top-notch experience.

Amazing first time ATV experience with Torex Rentals!…read more Friend and I made a last minute decision to ride ATVs in our last day on the Oregon Coast and we found Torex Rentals on google. Booking was easy - there was plenty of availability on the website for the following day so we reserved an hour rental at 9am for two riders. The rental office is less than 10 minutes away from downtown Florence, located near the Oregon Dunes Natural Area. The website states to come at least 45 minutes early, and I would recommend arriving an hour before just because it does take time to set up. We checked in with the staff around 8:15am and filled out the paperwork. One of the employees explained the forms to everyone and then afterwards we watched a safety education video. This was very informative! Most of these types of videos are pretty dry but this one was actually done very well - good production. Next, we got helmets, googles, and a fanny pack to secure our personal belongings. There are also cubbies to hold your items. The employees explained the ATV features and then guided us to the dunes. We got familiar with the ATV during this practice stretch. After that, we were free to explore the dunes and it was so much fun! I was a bit nervous but the safety video made me feel more comfortable. The dunes were mostly empty at the time which was great! Note: The 60 minutes includes the return time so we roamed around for 50 minutes and used the last 10 to get back to the office. I appreciated how we got a lot of freedom with the ATVs. We followed them back to the office and they helped us avoid the big cliffs! Quite an adventure!

You can choose from guided tour to self guided which is what I recommend if you're somewhat familiar with the dunes; from any state. If you're new to dune riding, might want to get the guided tour or play it safe and ride slow. The dunes can have drop-offs or be too steep going up and you need to know how to navigate. We opted for the 2-hour self guided tour in a 4-seater with awesome power. Didn't get stuck at all and plenty of time to go to the beach twice and run from east to west of the entire dunes. Checking in was easier than I thought as most forms and videos are done prior online. Got our safety brief of where to go and where not to go, speed limits, and then how to call for help. Don't show up in crocs or open toed shoes as you'll need to be protected. The deposit of the vehicle is quickly returned to your card after you're done riding, as long as there's no damage. Professional staff and quick to get you out riding. Arrive 30 minutes prior to your time so you can ensure everything is done and you're ready to ride!

The dunes are challenging and keeps you on your toes until you hit the coast which is gorgeous and a ton of fun to cruise on. A huge shout out to Dave who made the check in and out seamless and Jeremy who was on it when we got stuck after the back wheel clipped a tree on a narrower trail ( suggestion on going back to where we clipped the tree and cutting it down: evidence shows we where NOT the first person to hit that tree.....we will have to pay to have it repaired fingers crossed it won't be that much! Alex and Jeremy helped us out, were super accommodating and welcoming. Jeremy also talked to us about how the helmets are cleaned (steam cleaned before going into a sanitizing oven for 3 hours) which was important to know. We hesitated on top of a dune and ended up getting stuck but we gave Alex a call and he and Jeremy came up to help us right away. When feeling a little nervous about approaching a dune, Alex and Jeremy were incredibly helpful talking to us about it too. Jeremy then demonstrated what to do when driving up to the top of the dune before going down the other side which helped us feel more at ease. Alex and Jeremy are excellent and deserve much praise. The pricing is also better compared to Spinreel too. Alex definitely seems like an experienced leader there. He and Jeremy are a great team and are professional, kind and knowledgeable. Fun starts in the sand!…read more What an effing fun place to go dune buggy riding! They don't take reservations, but I highly recommend that you get there as early as possible. Park, head inside to buy your tickets, then write your name on the board outside near the waiting area. The guys will pull up in the buggy's, you'll climb on in, and away you go! 45/60 mins of twists, turns, and flying through the sand dunes along the beach. It doesn't get any better than this! Taking pictures is close to impossible, and you'll want to live in the moment. Wear clothes and shoes that you're comfy in. On rainy days, make sure you wear something that you don't mind getting slightly dirty. Did I mention how fun this is?? If YKYK. If you don't, this should be a must try. Just do it!
