A review for the pub/restaurant:…read more Went here on the recommendation of a hotel in the area. I had half a pint of ale and the pork sausages and potatoes in mustard sauce. The food was really well done and you could tell that care was put into it. I went with my colleague from Scotland, and he approved. Entrees ranged from around 11 pounds to 14 pounds. The steaks were more expensive. I would agree that the price was just a tad expensive overall. The inside was like a cozy little house. It had short ceilings. It was kind of like a hobbit house, but all the furniture was replaced by random mis-matched chairs and tables. A very homey feeling.

Around the back of this lovely village pub are some mobile-home-esque hotel rooms. We stayed here after an amazing wedding (as other friends also live in this village, and it was easy to get a taxi back late at night.) Yays: - The room was warm and comfy, so we slept well - Tea, cereal, milk etc was all provided in the room, so you can make your own breakfast! Nays: - I'm sure we were meant to check out by 10am, but we couldn't find anyone to give the keys back to! The pub main door was locked, so I have no idea how we could've contacted staff if we needed something! - There wasn't a hair drier (and as I said, no way to contact staff to see if I could borrow one) so if you stay here, bring your own! - We could hear the motorway, so being in the countryside, doesn't always mean things are quiet!! This didn't really matter after a night of dancing, as we were both exhausted and slept straight away!!

The Rivermill's menu offers a great selection of essential British food and a few foreign favourites all presented in an attractive and appetising style. Try the hamburgers here, they are extraordinary! Additionally, the Rivermill boasts one of the best selection of beers in the area. From local guest ales, a good selection of staple real ales and lagers, to imports including Erdinger on draft, this pub will not disappoint any beer drinker. It is also a great venue for live music, with local talent appearing several nights every week, including Tuesdays open mic night when everyone is welcome to have a go. Highly recommended by myself and a motley crew of artists from St Neots, don't miss the Rivermill, a great British pub.

I can heartily recommend the beef burgers they serve there. The only things that stop it from getting five stars is that the staff could perhaps be friendlier and the food could maybe be prepared quicker, but it is always worth the wait, both in terms of quality and quantity. Nine out of ten for this pub and very much recommended. If anything, I probably go there a bit too often, it is that good!

The place is located near the Madingley Hall, a beautiful country location of Cambridge University. The food was absolutely delicious. The menu is focused on Italian european but also has some British dishes. Loved the coffee. Drinks and spirits looked good but didn't go for it. The staff was polite and friendly. The food is innovative, interesting and always beautifully presented: having spent a lot of time in Italy, I am often dissappointed with the Italian food in England, but The Three Horseshoes always hits the right note. The seasonally changing menu is always a delight, but I particularly like their use of autumn veg, particularly butternut squash. Whatever buffalo mozzarella they use deserves a special place in heaven, and my boyfriend always manages to find room for their delicately seasoned lemon tart. Well worth a visit - if you're a student, this is definitely one to persuade your parents to take you to.

I chose the 7oz topside of beef with side salad and macaroni cheese, my wife had the sea food linguine, the beef was cooked to order (rare) but cold, it was so tough it was inedible, the manager came over and asked how it was, when i explained she said they was experimenting with the cut of meat they could get away with for the price they were charging £18 !, i declined another choice of meal as the service was really quite slow, my wife's linguine was not great, the white wine source had no punch and the seafood was over cooked and tough. When i paid, the waitress apologised for the meal and hoped it wouldn't stop us coming back, which it will and will not be recommending it, again the manager heard my grievance but made no effort to adjust the bill,£54, we will not be spending that again, a total disappointment and very upsetting for my wife's birthday.

Ambience was lovely and really different furniture, fixtures and fittings made it a really unique place to be. Service was good too. The biggest down side was that there are too many mirrors (extra large ones too) on most of the walls which is very off-putting ..

What can I say about the King's Arms? I'm at home here. When we moved to the UK, honestly our most…read moredesired feature was walking distance to a pub. We got stumbling distance to one of the best pubs in the country. This place is well-regarded by everyone in the region. I've met people here who give up walking distance to their local to drive here and have a good time. That says something. My first night here I made friends, and each time I've been here since I find myself in good company either with neighbors we've met before, or people who know we're new to the area and want to welcome us. I can't begin to tell you how often a quick pint before dinner turns into a long session at King's Arms. I wouldn't have it any other way. These guys truly embrace the concept of being the center of village activity. No TVs, no WiFi, these things distract from the community. You come here to interact with your friends and neighbors, enjoy a good beer, and enjoy living in the company of others. They regularly have events to bring the village out. The most impressive of which was the dinner they hosted on the night of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. They served the exact 10-course menu served in first class that evening, and requested everyone bust out their tuxedos and dresses to mark the occasion in grand fashion. It was a remarkable evening. One disappointment, since I have to list one to feel as though I am being fair, is the wine list. We love the temperanillo, but really none of the others. But we're not here to drink wine, we're here to be social! It makes me a little sad that we don't have this type of drinking culture in the US. If you're not an alcoholic, you're not likely be on a first-name basis with the bartenders at a local watering hole. That's why I love walking in here; everyone knows everyone else, they're always happy to see you, they know what you drink, they pour a tasty pint, and are genuinely good people. I dig it.
