I'm a really big fan of Zumba! It's a great way to get exercise and fitness without having to feel like a gym rat. So why am I writing this review? Because I'm a very big fan of Zumba Instructor, Dionne Thomas. Not just any Zumba instructor, a Zumba Jammer! A Zumba Jammer is a licensed Zumba instructor who specializes in Zumba choreography and has officially been selected by Zumba Fitness, LLC. There are only 4 Zumba Jammers in San Diego and North County San Diego area (as of September 2016). Super talented!! As many folks now know, I really love Zumba and will pretty much travel anywhere for special Zumba events (within driving distance). I try to make it to all of Dionne's special Zumba events and will travel to North County too (I live a little further south in San Diego area). At this point, I've taken a special event class with Dionne at least once every other month for about a year now (at various locations throughout San Diego). She's super talented, gives a good workout, and easy to follow as she cues really well. Love her song selections too! As of September 2016, she teaches Zumba at Dunamix once a week on Saturday mornings. Be sure to check her schedule before going to Zumba class (in case she's traveling). We love this dance studio! The people and teachers here are so nice and supportive, and such talented dancers! There's just a love for dance and a caring attitude for all dancers of all abilities and levels, and my kids have learned so much here. We have tried different classes and teachers and we honestly haven't found one that we didn't like--if there was only more time to take them all! The nice thing is that with their make-up policy, you can easily check out another class and try something new or use it to see if you'd like to pick up another dance class altogether. Everyone is kind and supportive here and the atmosphere is rare to find, especially when coupled with the talent and the love for dance. This studio is phenomenal! I have been dancing here for four years and it has eternally changed my life. The training I have received has helped me grow and improve drastically as a dancer as well as an artist. The teachers are talented, gifted, and wonderful; they expect nothing short of excellence. Dunamix offers a great range of diversity, from ballet to hip hop for all ages. The spiritual aspect of the studio is what has impacted me the most. Everyone there is warm and welcoming and full of the Holy Spirit. When you walk into the building, you can sense the tangible presence of God. Each dancer is fully committed to living a life dedicated to the Lord and bringing glory to His Name through the art of dance. My (then 10-year-old) daughter began dancing at Dunamix Dance about 3 years ago. She was welcomed with open arms by both the students and teachers. This studio is unique with professional level training and a safe, sweet family atmosphere. The dancers are extremely supportive of each other. She is now 13, and there has been NO drama! Instead, it's been a wonderful place for great training, friendships, and fun performances! It's her favorite place to be. My oldest daughter has taken jazz and hip hop at Dunamix since she was six. She participated in their Nutcracker and also Pinocchio performances. In my mind, the type of songs and outfits are appropriate for little girls - they're not being asked to dance or wear things that would be more appropriate for an older teenager. They create an atmosphere of love and respect. The teachers are both younger and older women and they are absolutely wonderful to the little girls. The owners are a Christian family who really live out their faith with biblical guidelines on how people should be treated. From the very top, all the way to how the parents act and how the girls are expected to treat each other, everyone holds a very high standard of how we treat people, and I truly appreciate that. read more

My daughters really love it here. The instructors are supportive, caring, and talented. The focus is on correct technique, and not an automatic advancement based on age. If you have an older child/teen who is just beginning to dance, they offer teen classes, and they also have "open" classes where children of various skill levels can dance together. They have optional performances during the year. The costumes and dance routines are age appropriate, which was important to me. read more

My daughter has been dancing at Dunamix for almost two years and I am so thankful that she has such a warm, positive, and loving environment to go to every week. I was looking for someplace where my daughter could get some exercise, develop poise and grace, and have fun. I did not want her at a dance studio where the focus was going to competitions or wearing skimpy dance costumes. Dunamix has turned out to be even more than we hoped for! A major focus of Dunamix is to inspire a personal relationship with Jesus and I have to say that this place has done more for my daughter's moral and spiritual development than her attendance at weekly church services and a youth group.
