$6,000+ Paid, Yet $3000 + of My Personal Belongings Went Missing…read more I want to acknowledge that the team at Neighborhood Junk Removal worked very hard during the clean-out, and I was appreciative of the amount of work they put in. However, I am extremely disappointed with my overall experience. I paid over $6,000 for a three-day clean-out of my aunt's home. With five people working throughout the house, it was difficult for me to personally supervise every room and keep track of everything. I was told that some items would be taken back to a warehouse to be sorted before being discarded, and that if I later discovered something was missing, they would try to locate it. I trusted that process. There was one incident during the clean-out that made me uncomfortable. I found a box with one of the staff members' names on it containing items he was taking without asking me. I addressed it when I found it. I am not saying this person took any of the belongings that are now missing, because I have no way of knowing what happened to those items, but it understandably made me more concerned about keeping track of my possessions. A couple of months after the project was completed, I began going through my boxes because I am now moving. That is when I discovered that several personal belongings were missing. I personally saw some of these items before the clean-out, including my Canon Rebel camera in its original box and my wedding dress in a clothing box with its hanger. I want to be clear that I am not accusing anyone of stealing. I don't know what happened to these belongings. I simply find it very strange and upsetting that items I personally saw and knew were there are now missing. The missing items include: - Wedding dress, veil and tiara -- approximately - Cuisinart coffee maker -- approximately $90-$200 - Canon Rebel EOS camera, new in box -- approximately $640-$1,050+ - Michael Aram coasters, set of 2 -- approximately $169-$273 - Sophie Conran plates/dishes -- approximately $300-$600+ - Versace bowl - BaByliss flat iron, 3-in-1 curling iron, wave iron and blow dryer -- approximately $200-$400+ - Diamond appetizer toothpicks, which are no longer made - Williams Sonoma melamine white mixing bowls - My great-grandmother's rolling pin - Gravy boat - Crate & Barrel chip and dip bowl - All-Clad Dutch oven -- approximately $400 - Diamond cross purchased from Amazon -- approximately $40 - My family tree book -- irreplaceable Based on the items where I can estimate replacement costs, I am looking at approximately $1,869-$3,093+ CAD in tangible replacement value alone. This does not include the sentimental value of items that cannot realistically be replaced. I was willing to give away many things from the house that I did not need. If I had been asked about something, I could have simply said whether it was okay to take. I also gifted the company a power generator on top of paying for the service. I appreciate the hard work the crew put into the clean-out, but discovering these belongings missing has left me extremely disappointed. I would recommend that anyone hiring a clean-out company keep a detailed inventory of their personal belongings and clearly identify what is and isn't to be removed.
