Don't they know there are a lot of tourists in town for the holidays, for the Christmas lights, and for the hockey tournaments? They had a post-it note on the door stating it was too cold...but it was actually above 10 degrees and it was the warmest of the past week. And we were standing at their door with a pocket of money! Oh, well. My wife and I scheduled 2 days to checkout every antique store in Duluth, MN and Superior, WI. It was strictly a short up-north antique shopping vacation. I was bored standing in front of Antiques on 1st because this was our last stop of the day and I could actually see all the way to the back wall from the window. It looked like a lot of mostly run of the mill for antiques...and an extremely small square footage. I couldn't see any tags (because they were closed due to the cold!?) so I can't comment on prices. The coolest thing I saw was a Denoyer Geppert WWII aviation floor globe in the front window. I bought the same exact model globe 7 or 8 years ago at Retro Classics (in St.Paul) for $400. And I sold it last year on Ebay for $380. So I guess the 400 dollar range is about right. I don't know what Antiques on 1st is asking (since they were scared of the cold and NOT open!?). Still, the globe is a cool piece. These guys might be worth stopping if you're in the downtown area.
