When I called at 10:30, I was told the appointment was changed to 1-4PM with no notice. Second time using this company. One my most recent service - I was able to get in a same day service call and they arrive promptly. Anthony and Bryan came and accessed the situation and was able to provide professional advise. The spring on my garage door broke and they gave various tiers of service from basics to best. The whole service was completed in 45-1 hr and they explained everything that was being done and what to expect. Also provided me with suggestions on how to care and maintain the door as it was a pretty old (~15 year old) door. Great work by both of these! We bought a garbage screen door and had it installed from this company. Around a year and a half later the remote stopped working, they came out and charged us $60 to reprogram it which took all of ten seconds. Year three of owning this garage door screen the battery pack they sold us stopped working for the door and both remotes stopped working. Their response is they stopped selling that door right after we bought it and still sold it to us!! They would come out now for $299 service call and replace the battery box for an additional $150! we would still be stuck with a garage door screen that is not working with two broken remotes!! THE WORST COMPANY. NO SYMPATHY. They took my $1500 & gave me the wrong sized garage screen that is oversized with an uneven frame. They take your money & laugh in your face when you want their terrible work removed. The workers who installed agreed it looked terrible. For over a week I have been trying to contact upper management. No response...when asked to contact management you're told "no". When asked for a managers email...a "no". When asked to get someone to look at the terrible work done "no". We we're only told that the president of the company said "the only way we get a refund is if they get an opportunity to make it right". Right would've been getting the situation figured out ASAP. Each time I made an appointment online picking the day and time frame and a confirmation sent to my E-Mail I would get a call the next morning at 8:30am saying that they were trying to get me on the schedule???? Then they would set up a different day and time, get another call to confirm the appointment. Service on my garage door opener, was not able to be fixed, offered to install a new one for $450.00. Service man was a good worker and was fast in installing the new opener. The only problem I had with the worker is that he never mentioned the coupon for the Free Upgrade to 2 better remotes I suppose and Opener Keypad. I had the coupon but with the problems with the opener I forgot and did not get the upgrade. Other than that and being told the belt on the new opener which bangs against the tract when it pulls the door up is normal, no other problems so far. read more

Beware! I called Discount Garage Doors, Brooksville, FL, to replace a broken spring. Their repairman gave me 3 quotes for the replacement of 2 springs, for springs and cables, and for springs, cables, and bearings. I told him I was shocked at the quoted prices. Springs were $750, springs and cables $850 and springs, cables and bearings over $1,000! He then said he'd try to give me a "deal" and dropped the prices by about $100. I told him I thought it was too much and that I was going to get a second quote. My research showed that springs replacement should run $200 - $400. He called his boss and, miraculously, the price dropped to $400! I agreed to the $400 which, while still on the high side, I did because I was pressed for time over the next several days and couldn't wait for another company to quote. To his credit, the repairman did not pressure me to take the additional work and the spring replacements appears to have been done correctly (thus 2 stars). However,this company's initial pricing is obviously quoted in hopes of snagging naive customers who don't know better or haven't done their homework on appropriate pricing. I couldn't get my cars out of the garage due to a broken spring. Called around to several repair places and DGD was able to send someone out within a couple hours. The technician was polite, knowledgeable and thorough and for that they get four stars! After he worked replacing my springs he tells me that it's going to cost $772.00 for the springs/labor which shocked me! Then he stated my rollers were old and needed replacing which was and additional $200.00. I was shocked at the total price yet I figured since they're already screwing me and he's here and has the rollers so I said go ahead, why not, I'm already screwed! So with the rollers I was charged $992! Can you believe it? For that they get zero stars but the minimum I can give is one star! Edited to add: After the reply from Jack D (who is the owner of the company according to Sunbiz) was received, I wanted to post my receipt. I did call a manager (Matt) and he (mostly) fixed the loud noise which he said was a mistake and he has now resolved. Further, he added the keypad which was missed on the first install. He tried to fixed the wifi but was unable to and gave me the phone number for Linear. I did explain breaking the belt was MY FAULT - I didn't know the spring was broken and attempted to pull the entire weight of the hurricane door with the belt. Matt wasn't surprised when he heard that and said no belt would hold up to that weight. Further, I'm not here to debate if Genie is good or not. It served me well for 4 years before I destroyed it by attempting to force the door open with broken springs. Matt was very polite and said he would come back to fix the issue again if necessary. He also said he would refund the warranty that I was told was included (although that still hasn't happened). He had a new receipt emailed to me. I would post it but it came with a confidentiality notice. Oddly, my new receipt #15104 (previously #16254) has "$50/bearing, $118/cables, $215 neoprene roller, 2@$175/ea torsion, $350/opener, $137/warranty, 2 hours@$115/hr." The receipt is still sketch. It went from 1 labor hr to 2; $37 in fuel/misc (which I was told was typically 9% but he made the math even) to none now, and the warranty went from $175 (not included - get that one in writing folks) to $137? And no tax. Not on parts or labor. My job deals with investigating fraud and these receipts wouldn't pass at my work. Anyway, my complaints except for the wifi and warranty I was told was included are resolved. The ridiculous, childish response from Jack shows the real company and that's a shame because Matt (the supervisor that came out) and Nico, the original installer were both very friendly. To be fair, Nico is young but does know what he's doing and was incredibly nice. I just didn't get the quote in writing and was more upset than anything about the noise and being told the warranty was included when it wasn't (and the keypad but I could get one at Amazon for $30 - just the principal). My experience with this company have been disappointing. Here are 2 examples of poor customer service over the past year with varying degrees of dissatisfaction. · The first experience was in never being able to speak with a live person in their Customer Service organization. After 2 times being on hold for more than an hour total, I finally reverted to using their Chat bot where I was able to schedule the work to be done. Once we got the job scheduled and the installer onsite, the results were fine and the installer did a great job of replacing the springs and rollers as well as replaced the garage door opener. · The second experience and the one I am most dissatisfied with deals with the acquisition and installation of a garage door screen. Finally on Aug 9thafter a 3rd time reschedule ... 11 weeks, 55 business days after the order was placed and 25 business days past the 4 to 6 week "worst case" estimate of availability I was quoted when I ordered the screen on May 19th ... the screen was installed but was damaged in shipment so we are now awaiting a replacement to come in and be scheduled for installation. In both cases, once installers were on site, things went well but my frustration is with the company's inability to deliver good customer service. I'm a Retired US Army Officer and a Critical Account Manager for a global Software Company, I understand the impact of COVID and what constitutes good Customer Service. I explained the situation and we were able to schedule a repair visit within a reasonable time frame. On the day before and the day of the impending service call, I was contacted several times by very pleasant DGD office staff that kept me informed every step of the way. Brandon L., the area's service technician supervisor, responded to our home at the stated time and after a complete inspection of the entire garage door system system, both inside and out, we agreed to completely repair the broken system at a fair price. Within a very short time, he repaired the garage door as promised and installed the new parts which consisted of top of the line equipment which included some very nice upgrades to make it even more efficient than before. Throughout the entire process, he took the time to thoroughly explain everything in the process from beginning to end and it was ultimately a quality installation completed in a timely manner. We couldn't be happier with our garage door repair along with some upgraded improvements and we highly recommend DGD . You won't regret it.
