This is a review for the Spring Nationals as well as the venue itself.
This is a UCI certified track that has a lot of technical aspects for the rider. The track is clean and well taken care of. The venue is covered ( shade all day) with bleacher seating and there is room on the north side where teams can set up tents. There isn't a lot of room for vendors so there weren't many, just a few. They have real bathrooms (with toilets that hold water) so ladies, we get a break from the *barf* porta potties. There is parking on the top lot and if it's full I have no idea where you would park as the lot across the street (which is part of UNM) clearly states no BMX parking. NO pets, NO alcohol, NO Smoking and there were police (not security) on premises to enforce those rules. There was camping but limited spaces. The only downfall to this facility is the layout, there is one path for riders and walkers to occupy which becomes very congested and sometimes dangerous. It would have been ideal to put a path behind the stands (or elsewhere) that is strictly for riders to utilize to separate them from the spectators. They were inconsistent with dropping gates which for us parents is important as we need the process to go smooth and efficient for the sake of our riders.
They only had snack/food bars that were part of the facility that did not have anything healthy to eat, it's fatty processed foods.
Other than that, the event was organized and ran smoothly. read more
