Never had to wait too long to get our food and with a bigger place you can be closer to the bar or further away for quieter conversations. On the fence about this place. Put in a pickup order while staying in Windom. I wasn't overly thrilled with the menu options but it seemed to be one of the only restaurants in town that wasn't just fast food. There were quite a few decent options so I decided to give it a try. I ordered pasta that had the option of blackened chicken, lemon pepper chicken, or plain chicken. I selected the lemon pepper chicken, which I did not receive. They gave me blackened chicken instead. It was okay. I'm not a huge fan of blackened chicken flavor but it wasn't the end of the world. The breadstick was good; it had a slightly sweet flavor to it. All in all, it was fine. Nothing to write home about but I wasn't totally disappointed. I'd try other things from this restaurant. My biggest gripe was when I went to pick up my food. Upon entering the restaurant, there's a sign stating "wait to be seated". I stood there for an astonishing amount of time without being greeted. Multiple staff members passed by me and looked at me but did not acknowledge or say a word to me. I stood there so long, it felt very awkward and I debated just approaching someone myself. Where was the hostess??? I felt incredibly unwelcome and it really turned me off to the place. Like the vibes were so off that I thought to myself, I will never be back here. Finally, one of the staff that had passed by me a few times looked at me with hesitation and I could tell she was thinking about how I'd been standing there for a while but I'm guessing it wasn't her job to seat people. I took the opportunity to tell her that I was just there for a pickup order and she notified someone and then brought me the food. Had this young lady not shown visible concern about me standing there, who knows how long I would have stood there without so much as a greeting. Maybe this is acceptable in small town culture, I honestly don't know. But I personally find it rude and unwelcoming. This could just be a one off, but either way... do better! read more

WOW! Diamond in the rough!!! While driving through SW Minnesota we found this gem! I had the bone in pork chop and it was cooked to perfection with the spicy apple glaze that paired nicely with it! My wife had the Not Granny's Raspberry Jam sandwich and said it was one of the best sandwiches she has ever eaten! read more

I had dinner here last night while visiting Windom. From the outside this restaurant has a nice look with its wooden exterior sitting right next to 2nd Avenue which is the main drag through town. Duffy's has an outdoor patio out front but I chose to sit inside. They have a nice looking bar and other dining rooms available inside and I bet this is probably the best place in town to eat. I decided to go with the petite sirloin (7 oz.) and of the potato choices for the included side dish I asked for the loaded potato for $15. I had them add sautéed mushrooms to the steak for another $1.50 and a side salad for another $3. First to arrive was the salad. It was quite large and was actually too big for the plate it was served on. Some of my salad wound up falling on the table simply because it was overflowing. I had to be careful with each forkful to not spill any more which I did. The small container of ranch dressing that came with it just wasn't near enough so I asked my waitress for another container which she provided. The salad and dressing were pretty good and a real value for $3 considering it's size. About 10 minutes later the entree arrived. The steak was cooked to order and with the mushrooms had a nice flavor to it. The baked potato came with a container of sour cream and butter on the side and the potato had cheese and bacon it it. Also, they provided a bread stick. Finally my table service was good. Overall it was a good tasting meal that I would rate as a 3.5 and round up to a 4 for Yelp purposes but I won't. When I was presented the bill I noticed two discrepancies. First that loaded baked potato cost $2 more. They didn't mention that on the menu. All it said was that bakers are available after 5 p.m. Nothing about the extra cost. Second there was a .75 cent charge for the extra salad dressing. In both cases my waitress never mentioned either charge. The baked potato should be listed on the menu as costing extra and I would have still ordered it. But the extra charge for that little salad dressing container? Don't serve such a big salad without providing enough salad dressing. Had I not added the extra dressing the salad would have been too dry to eat. The waitress should have mentioned both but she didn't. To the owner/manager stop nickel and diming us! It reflects poorly on your establishment. This is why I give a 3 overall. Diners beware! read more

Don't listen to Greg. We were in town for a state horse show and our service was absolutely amazing! We were consistently checked in with and our waiter always had the biggest smile on his face. Our whole table was very impressed with their food. I would highly recommend their house favorite -- Not Granny's Raspberry Jam. It was to die for !! We had dinner there last night and it was a zoo . You could here the workers in the kitchen yelling and goofing around so loud you could hear it it the dining room. The food was horrible and service lacking. I realize Covid has impacted the business but the quality of the food was terrible. My son and I drove in from Jackson for some wings and fries. We took our food to go. Once we got home we all shared the food as a family. I eat very quickly but my wife as she was half way through her food she noticed a WAD OF HAIR!! (A WAD) it had knots an kinks in it. This wad of hair didn't fall from someones head. We almost missed this place while driving on the highway and lucky for us, we made a quick decision to stop because this place blew the socks off of all three of us. For only opening 12 weeks ago (sometime in July?) one would expect some bumps that need to be worked out, but this was not even minutely the case. There are three other locations but this is naturally the newest. Beautiful exterior and interior mirroring a log cabin...the bar, which was made locally, was exquisite. Plenty of tables, bar space, and seating for large groups or families or a few individuals. The staff was all very friendly and welcoming. It doesn't happen very often that you are genuinely greeted, waited on, and sent on your way with a warm smile. Several people throughout the meal came over to make sure that the food was ok. And yes, the food was exceptional. Three of us split an order of onion rings that were crispy and not greasy or soggy, a 1/2 order of wings, and a green olive burger (with a layer of tapenade and cream cheese). We each got a side salad (iceberg lettuce unfortunately) and we left feeling full, borderline stuffed, meaning we ordered the perfect amount of food. The menu was surprisingly diverse given the nature of the restaurant, It consists of burgers, sandwiches, standard appetizers, Mexican food, and bar bites. Several TVs are mounted throughout the place, which if you come during an NFL game, will undoubtedly be playing. In fact, there are Vikings game day specials (but...go Pack!). It was packed on a Sunday night that we went and there wasn't even that big of a game on, so that must tell you something about the quality. It felt like we were the only out-of-towners in the place. They have a happy hour from 3-5pm Monday-Friday, but I didn't quite catch what the deals are. Amazingly clean bathrooms and the whole place didn't have a speck of dust or food spilled. The air conditioner probably didn't need to be blasted since the three of us were shivering while the other side room was nice and toasty, but I admit it's hard to predict a late-September evening temperature around here. All in all, Duffy's significantly exceeded our expectations and we all three agreed that we hope to be back in the very near future. PS. This roadside bar and grill is a great place to stop when you are on the road. We learned it had only been open 12 weeks and also that there are other locations! We decided to share a green olive and cream cheese burger along with, half a dozen wings, and each of us had a dinner salad. It was a great idea so we didn't overstuff ourselves and so that we each got a taste of the food. We started with the onion rings and in hind sight we should have had the dinner salad first, so we could have all the hot food together. Nevertheless, the onion rings were a welcomed sight since we were all hungry! They were clearly fresh, and not super greasy. They were accompanied by a seasoned sour cream and were nice and hot! We received our burger, salads, and wings. The burger was tasty (but kind of messy-as you would expect with cream cheese on it). The salad was iceberg lettuce, and wings are always messy...but it was all good and hit the spot! The bar is really cool it looks about 4" thick, made from a tree. There are a lot of fun sayings on all the walls and there are a good number of high top tables in the bar area and more seating of low-top tables in the dining area where it is more family-friendly. My biggest complaint is that it was absolutely freezing in the bar area where we sat, it was not like this in the dining area. Our service was good. Stopped at Duffy's with my family on our way to a cabin in Northern Minnesota. The place was empty since it was 2:30pm so my family expected to be in and out. This was not the case. The young waitress sporting a Bud Light hat was more interested in talking to her friends about a party that evening than taking our order. Once she finally came over, she quickly became upset after I asked if I could get more than one wing sauce with my meal (you cannot). After about 45 mins we finally received our food which consisted of soggy wings and burnt onion rings. If you asked me if I'll be returning to Duffy's my answer would simply be: "it's a no for me dawg." read more

I thought this place was great!! We stopped on our way home from out west to grab a bite and watch the end of the Vikings game. We shared two flavors of boneless wings and each had a side salad. The wings were really good!! Salads were tasty as well. We didn't have any alcohol but for game day they were offering a big Bloody Mary that looked like a meal in itself for only $15.00. Went here on while on a trip for work on a recommendation from a coworker. Not impressed one bit. Our server came to our table to take our orders then didn't show up again until we were totally done. Someone else brought out our food. I waited at least 10 minutes to get my drink refilled and get some condiments. I finally walked up to the bar and almost had to do it myself. The waitress walked by us 8 times and didn't check on us one time. The burgers we got were sub par at best. Very little flavor in the beef. Definitely not worth 12 dollars. Not really skins but half potatoes smothered in cheese and chives. We asked for the bacon on the side which they provided. When the Parmesan garlic boneless wings arrived, my son exclaimed after the first bite "these are the best I've eaten in my whole life". Which is saying something since he is a wing fan. Came on a Monday night with my wife and her siblings and their spouses. I asked server for a beer list, and 10 minutes later she brought it. It was a busy night, and I'm sympathetic, but it shouldn't take 20 minutes from the time she dropped off the beer menu until she returned to see what I'd like. I ordered half order of boneless parmesan garlic wings and side salad. My husband ordered a fish sandwich. My wings came SOAKED in sauce...which was more like water and butter. They were sooooo soggy i had to spit the bite i took back into the basket. A water soaked chicken tender...horrible. Side salad was mostly large chunks from the middle of a head of lettuce. My husbands fish was simply a frozen fish stick on a hogie bun. We never saw a waitress again to ask how the food was. I would have ordered something else.
