The last couple of years, I could not and cannot bear the thought of seeing how much I pay the government out of my paycheck, nor how much I pay them in student loan interest, so I stuff all of my papers (admittedly not many) into a Ziplock bag and take them to Ben. He's so nice and has never once made me feel rushed during his hectic tax season. He answers all my questions and acts as a semi-counselor as I bitch and moan about taxes. They also upload Sharefile links to you each year which gives you notice to get your stuff together and is super easy in case you don't feel like getting downtown to see them. Check Ben out!

They have helped us with payroll questions for our business and they do as little or as much as we need help with. Our personal returns are quite complicated because of the businesses we own and sometimes our returns are over 150 pages! We happily pay our bill each year and always check the square for IRS or SC Tax Commission to speak to Mr. Thiem regarding our information if need be. Mr. Thiem has represented us in two or three separate audits and they have all come out favorably - he stands behind what he puts on paper, so be truthful to him! He always knows that we need an extension and automatically files one for us - what a great person to have on your side! With Mr. Thiem nearing retirement, we hope that Mr. McCutcheon will be ready to handle all of our business (which we don't doubt for a second!) as we will stay with this long-established firm! You won't be sorry if you go to them, they are very professional and the tax people know and respect this firm!!

I should have known better than to trust "I'll have my associates work on it and they charge less but if I work on it I will charge my fees (300+)". The bill was almost 4k and I started crying because I didn't know how I was going to swing that. Then she sent a notice saying they would not submit my returns and would file for an extension if I didn't pay her invoice. I had every intention of paying and did on time. I asked for a breakdown of the costs for the price of doing my taxes, and she only wrote back "I saved you in taxes blah blah blah" but never gave me an explanation or breakdown of service fees. I still have no idea what her associates were charging hourly. Lesson learned. I will never do business with a firm that isn't clear about their charges for service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE.

We had a nice meeting with basic advice, and she stated it would be a couple of months before she had any numbers for me since she was currently working on quarterly taxes. We had a few email exchanges with Melissa over the next months and a phone call but never received any numbers. This year around March, my husband reached back out to them to do our yearly taxes. Melissa emailed us a few times answering some questions. For the past month, my husband and I have been uploading our tax documents into their platform without anyone from the office asking us penitent questions needed to complete our return. We still didn't know how much we were going to owe so we put our information into Turbotax to see an estimate and to make sure we were sending them everything they needed. A week before taxes were due, we asked them directly if they were going to have our taxes completed because we hadn't heard from anyone nor been asked anything about our different tax situations. We told them in the email that if they were unable to file in time, we could use Turbotax so we didn't receive a penalty but we wanted them to file them. I also told Elizabeth that it looked like we were going to owe a lot more than we expected next year because we failed to meet an exemption that we were unaware of before selling our home. I told her that I would have expected that to be something she told me during our first meeting because it makes a huge financial difference. Instead, of calling me to discuss the matter, Elizabeth sends us an email six days before taxes are due telling me that she is discontinuing our relationship because I questioned her integrity. She was also offended we had used Turbotax. The entire situation was unprofessional and immature.

You see, our first year's tax returns involved two states, multiple cash flows, distributions, purchase and sale of two properties, business interests, etc. , requiring proficiency above punching numbers into a canned tax program. While certainly I could have done it all myself, I wanted the benefit of tax advice and assurance that each return and associated schedules would be prepared correctly (read: lowest tax liability). As I was interested in a small office/sole practitioner, Allan G.Bolden, C.P.A., presented exactly the interface I was looking for. The front office staff is friendly, professional and efficient. Each January, we receive a notebook in which I complete tax-related proprietary forms and attach official documents which simplify the practice's information gathering phase. During our appointment, we discussed (with Allan) changes in our lives over the last year ... and anything that we could foresee ... that could affect our tax position in 2017. Allan does not actually key the input, that is completed by one of the staff specialists; however, he reviews every return and accompanying schedules. I like the fact that I've seen the same faces year after year. I know you're wondering about cost ... it's a function of the number and complexity of schedules ... so our cost each year has varied. We just signed off on our 5th year of returns. The turn around time was 3 days (including Sunday). If you're looking for a consummate tax professional ... Allan G. Should you try it? Oh yes!! I'm on my second program with Emily because she's made such an impact! Ambience: Anytime I'm ever talking to Emily or in circle, I feel so supported. In sister circles, the mood is always positive, even when one of us is having a rough day. We express what's on our minds and ask for the type of feedback we want. In 1:1 calls with Emily, she directs the call based upon what's most heavy on your mind, and destroys blockages in your life, one by one, until you feel complete and questioning why you ever second-guessed yourself in the first place! Emily is truly magical. Service: If I ever had any doubts, questions or concerns, Emily was able to explain thoroughly and work through my objections one by one. She dedicates the time necessary to address what's going on in your life in a way that feels so natural. It's like talk therapy - only she is specially trained to help you take positive, motivated action that serves you in the best way possible. Location: Emily can work with you both near and far since she communicates with you via email, phone, and Google Hangouts. The ladies in my sister circle were spread out across the US, and I feel very close to them after our time together. 3 Key Tips: 1) Be sure you're ready to set aside time to complete weekly accountability assignments. They ultimately serve your personal goals and aren't difficult - but you've gotta commit to change if you want to see improvement. 2) Emily's group programs are amazing! You'll be supported by Emily and a few other women who can give you insights on your goals that wouldn't otherwise come to light! 3) (general life tip on this topic) Learn to meditate. I have found most success with 1:1 coaching, though Emily also offers group circles that are fantastic as well. The environment that she creates for these circles is welcoming, non-judging, and very meditative. During my 1:1 coaching experience, I was shocked by how wise and understanding Emily is. When you're speaking with her during a coaching call, she has the power to distill your thousand-word rant into a short, direct paragraph that completely and 100% captures what you just said.....and then flips your perspective on how to deal with it. The biggest benefit to working with Emily is having someone listen to you and then offer words of wisdom for how to get where you want to go. Emily has a way of getting you to connect what's in your head and your heart, then guides you through the action steps you need to take. Of course, nothing changes if you don't commit to doing the work! The accountability support that's offered is fantastic. Emily also offers insight and advice based on her training and knowledge of goddesses, moon phases, and such (in a completely non-woo woo way). I always left a call with a clear idea of what I need to do to see amazing change in my life. I am beyond happy with my decision to change my life with Emily's wisdom and guidance.
